General Info
My goal at the time was to find a way to practice Veterinary Medicine, as well as raise a very young family. Over the last five years GBMVS has grown into a full time venture that provides Veterinary care to over 1200 clients, which is about 2000 four legged patients, all spread over the countryside from Wasaga Beach to Honey Harbour. We have grown to a team of 4 staff members.I love exploring the beautiful area we live in, and getting to see all the special places that our clients and patients call home! I have wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember, and to make that happen I attended the University of Guelph. Before graduating with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, I received my Honors Bachelor of Science in Toxicology. Upon graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College, I worked in a busy mixed animal practice where I gained a lot of 'real world' experiences in medicine and surgery of both small and large animal practice. From there I spent the next eight years focused on small animal medicine and surgery, with special interests in dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry.

I have been taking my German Shepherd here since 2011. My dog had a bad experience with a vet in Barrie and never forgot. I explained this to the vet and staff here and they have done everything in their power to accommodate me and my dog. They go out of there way to figure out how to examine and deal with the task at hand for the animal and owner. And they do it with a pleasant smile. I would, will and always recommend these vets and staff. Thank you Read Less

We have used both mobile and on site facilities both are top notch. Dr Leanne came to our home and looked after our rescue with multiple medical concerns. Her compassion and time taken to explain rationale and processes was appreciated. When his time came she allowed we humans and our other pets the time we needed to grieve and gave us strength to know we were doing the right thing as our hearts were breaking. Dr Leanne Jess and all the staff we have met have made us and our pets comfortable always taking time to answer questions thoroughly. You and your pets wont be disappointed. A great choice to care for your pets❤ Read Less

Amazing facility, the staff are some of the best I've dealt with in the industry. They go well above and beyond the service, creating an overall pleaseant experience.

We fostered a dog from the OSPCA who needed monthly skin tests and the OSPCA asked that we bring him to Georgian Bay Veterinary Hospital for care. We got to know these lovely people over the 10 months that our foster dog needed care and just loved how they treated him. Once he was cleared of his skin condition and was available for adoption we ended up adopting him and making him a part of our family. Even though we live two municipalities away and our other pets go to a local vet, we decided to stay with Georgian Bay Vet for their excellent customer service and care of our dog. Read Less

In spite of the fact we were about to send our 4 yr old mastiff to Rainbow Bridge, I do believe that angels walk among us, Dr. Leanne and her staff are just that. They came to our home, they explained everything that was going to happen with very compassionate tones. We all 4 sat on the floor with Bihler showing him all the love and tenderness, letting him know we are there with him, he is not alone. When Bihler had taken his last breath, Dr. Leann checked for a heartbeat, let us know he was gone and told us to take as much time as we needed and she and her assistant gave us hugs and quietly stepped outside of our house to let us say goodbye to our beloved Bihler. She promised she would take great care of him, and would call when his ashes were ready to be picked up. This is one of the hardest things any pet lover will have to do, but I will always have it done this way, in the comfort of my home with people who truly care for my pet almost as much as I myself do. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts. You made this bearable for me, and your kept my baby boy comfortable, that meant the world to our family. Read Less
