We have been going to Dr. Felix with our dog for 5 years. He is always professional and extremely knowledgeable but even more importantly- all the staff show a genuine love of animals. Their approach is to put the animals’ well-being first and never to encourage unnecessary treatment. We went in expecting that our dog needed surgery because of several concerning growths. Instead, Dr Felix encouraged us to wait and monitor their size and the dog’s comfort level where other vets would simply encourage expensive surgery regardless of whether or not it was essential. This allowed us to trust in his recommendations later when the situation required surgery, and it was expertly done. We cannot recommend this clinic highly enough. Read Less

I've taken many a cat here (all former strays) for over 20 years, from when I was a starving student considering giving up our first stray because we didn't have much money to more recent visits for cats with various disorders such as Feline Immuno Virus (the cat equivalent to HIV), cancer, broken tails, UTIs and crystals, and so on. He went out of his way to make the costs of our very first visit affordable. He's also come in early when we needed an emergency visit, and checked in on one of our cats on a Sunday when he was recovering from surgery (an amputation for a "dead" tail). The only reason I give him one less star is because I think sometimes he assumes you never want to spend more money, so doesn't always ask whether you want to do more. Sure, sometimes he could talk more, but that's just not him. We don't all have to be sociable. Read Less

I brought my White Shepherd here for a check up because it was close by. Other vets in this neighbourhood are 2-3x more expensive, and vaccines are triple the cost. Dr. Felix and his team are laid back and professional. I recently brought my dog there suspecting she had Lyme disease. Dr. Felix took a lot of time determining a course of treatment with us, and actually deterred us from doing blood work. We did a urinalysis and got a month's worth of antibiotics. All told, the whole experience cost less than $200, and it was amazing. She's doing great, and we have found our new vet! Read Less

Dr Felix during my intial visit with my 9 week old Cane Corso pup kind of rubbed me as a bit of a no heart kinda man, But for our second encounter, I rushed on holding my 11 week old (same pup) wrapped in a blanket and I was in hysterics- she had been limping all evening & next morning for no apparent reason. Dr Felix's amazing assistant (I cannot remember her name, but boy she is terrific!) scooped my puppy up and called in Dr Felix who called Ali by name & addressed me in the same manner. He was thorough, gentle & very understanding of my hysteria. Xray's were conducted, we discovered she had no fractures but an infection in her cartilage could be the cause. Although no guarantee as it doesn't show on xrays. He then wanted to ensure I was given the right treatment for my little Ali so he consulted a pharmaceutical book and made his decision for minor pain relief and mild dose of treatment for infection. She was home three days and her limp slowly faded away. Now she is off both meds and I have never seen her so happy or playful. Read Less

Price: Great price compared to other locations. Knowledge: Not so much. Out of touch and mis diagnosed my kitty many times. Didn't perform simple tests that other vets would have. Didn't really listen to what I said about my kitty's behaviour. All signs pointed directly to something and I knew it but he didn't once look into those causes when in the end that's what my kitty was diagnosed with after going to 2 different vets. Communication: Poor. I asked for kitty vitamins and he said he'd order some and call me. Week later no call. I called back and the lady said she would talk to him and call us right back. No return call. Called again and he said he'll look into it and call back. No call back again. Gave up on trying to chase them for my kitty's vitamins. Would not recommend. You'll get better service paying the $80-$90/appointment elsewhere than here. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.  It's your pets life, always find the best doctor regardless of price. Not thrilled - told me to operate on my senior dog who had a lump. It seemed like a really rushed appointment to just be told he needed an operation without any information or tests. Went to another vet for a second opinion and after a thorough examination, it turned out he already had cancerous masses throughout his body and an operation would have killed him outright. We had to euthanize our dog which obviously sucks but at least I could be there for him instead of him dying during an unnecessary surgery. Read Less

Dr Felix is a really great vet. As many other reviews attest, he never tries to get you to buy extra stuff you don't need or do procedures that are not necessary. This is a very rare circumstance in Toronto where most vets are looking to make as much money as possible and you can't get out the door for under five hundred dollars. He has taken a no nonsense approach to helping me with my nineteen year old cat, and I really appreciate everything he has done for me. I recommend him for any pet owner. I was a little surprised to find that Dr. Felix doesn't have more reviews than this...  so I am going to go ahead and write!!!   I was a regular at the Bloorcourt Vet until the one time I called to say there was something very wrong with my pet, she was in distress and could I bring her in because I thought she was dying.  I was told "sorry we are busy but you could bring her in tomorrow".  I was "Are you kidding me" and after a few words I hung up.  Found the closest vet to me and called...  it was 5:30 pm.  I spoke with Dr. Felix and he said come by right now he would wait for me.  The cat was very ill, and was put down that same night. That was about 15 years ago.  It is not a fancy trendy place... it's a veterinary clinic... clean and efficient.  Dr. Felix is to the point, he will answer all questions and very good with animals( I am pretty sure I saw him crack a smile once) He is still my vet and I am a happy customer/patient owner!!BTW ...  He reminds me of Neil Young ...   :) Read Less

This is an excellent  veterinary clinic. I will not dress it up though, the office is not much to look at and doesn't  have that gross antiseptic smell!! The Veterinarian Dr. Felix is a bit curt and not overly friendly. The office hours are sometimes a bit of a guessing game! He's usually not there in the afternoon, we usually go on a Saturday morning. This is not why we take our dog here. We take the dog here because he likes it!! He doesn't try to escape as soon as we get in and seems happy to be there. Dr. Felix doesn't waste your time or his and doesn't try to talk you into a bunch of nonsense. He is also very good with the animals they seem to be comfortable around him. This is definitely not the norm when going to the vet. Dr. Felix's fees are very reasonable as well, compared to other vets in the area and our past vet.Despite everything I stated he is the best Vet we have found and I am happy to recommend him to anyone looking for a good Vet. Again he is not the most social guy, the place isn't super modern but, it's not for you it's for your pet!!I also believe he makes house calls if needed and there is a groomer on site. Read Less

Read Less
