My 2year old cat got into some sewing thread in my basement during the new year. He started to vomit one night, and since he is a long hair, I thought he had one of his regular hair balls, not having any idea of what had happened. The vomiting continued through the night and the next day, I took him to his FORMER clinic at Brimley and Lawrence. The vet was a mess, jammed packed with people and animals. Cats were hissing at dogs who were barking at other dogs. There were at least 20 animals in the waiting room. A puppy peed on the floor and the receptionist did not notice until later on, when she just placed a cone over the mess and did not bother to clean it. After a 4hour wait, the vet told me that he had a thread stuck under his tongue. Without explaining, she said that I would have to get him in surgery ($3000) where they'll have to open his abdomen, and find the thread in his intestines. I asked what my other options were, and she said that he would die and if I was not going to get him into surgery, then she would call Animal Services on me. She did not explain to me that there were Pet care financing services available. She had no compassion for my cat. Me being an emotional wreak, and seeing that my cat was not well and very lathargic, agreed. Right then, the vet took my cat in to do X-Rays, which I had to pay $340 right away. That day, they sent us home with our cat, and did not give him anything to comfort him. They advised that I would receive a call the next day with instructions, and not to give him anything to eat or drink after midnight. The whole day, my cat was getting weaker and was still throwing up but just liquid. The next morning, I received a call from another doctor at the same clinic, and they had advised me that the specialist had looked at the X-rays and said that the thread had not affected the intestines, and they could see if they could remove it without surgery. With great relief, we got ready to take my cat back. Not too long after, I received another call from the doctor stating that he made a mistake, and that my cat needed to come in immediately for surgery. We bring my cat back, and waited another 1hr before we were seen, and luckily my boyfriend was with me and able to rationalize the situation. Since my cat had the thread under his tongue and it was visible, my boyfriend asked if the thread could be cut instead of the risk of an abdominal surgery. The doctor agreed and we paid another $190 to sedate him, so the doctor could cut the thread. A few hours later, I picked up my cat and was instructed that if he was not improving during the evening to take him back the next day. When I took him home, I could see that he was clearly dehydrated, and the vet had done nothing to treat him of the dehydration, nor did they give me instructions to do so as well. I ended up finding another vet, whom basically saved my cats life. Brimley Lawrence animal clinic is just a money grab. They do not care about your animals and are very rude and dishonest. I was appalled of the treatment or lack of that my cat received, and if you love your animals, never bring them there! Read Less
