The staff are incredible here, so caring and compassionate. I took my hamster here because she was old and I thought it was her time to go. The staff were incredibly simpathetic and explained to me that treatment was hard for a hamster and we decided together (with no pressure) that we would euthanize. They explained everything so well and made sure I was okay with everything they were doing. Will be taking any and all future pets to them. I want to thank them for respecting my love for the little hamster and understanding how hard it is to say goodbye. Read Less

The staff answered all my questions and were up front about the costs. At the Hospital my conure was treated very gently and explained what they observed and concluded. Dr. Luckwaldt was very patient and gentle with Bonsai and let me hold him while he passed, then left us for a time to say goodbye. I am glad I chose this practice and would recommend them to friends. I was a little concerned because the reviews here seemed either amazing or awful, but I also figure that's because we're talking about our fur/ feather babies, so people are understandably pretty emotional. Went for the first time today. The staff were friendly and caring. Dr. Luckwaldt knew exactly what the problem was, didn't do a bunch of invasive, stressful and potentially costly procedures before first trying a medication to fix the problem. I was taught how to help my little feathered friend keep clean until she is feeling better, and how to give her the medication she was prescribed. Had a hundred questions for Dr. Luckwaldt and he took his time to answer and explain the pros and cons of everything. Told a friend of mine who also has a parrot how much I was charged and she said that was a great price (I don't have anything to compare it to personally). Read Less

My daughter's little hamster was very ill. Since all vets were closed when we realized, I rushed first thing in the morning to get to Greenwood Park Animal Hospital hoping to get her seen by a vet. When I got there, the receptionist informed me in a very detached and uncaring way that there were no appointments until late that afternoon. For a website that touts a warm and caring staff, I would disagree. Family pets are part of a family and if all the staff at a vet are unable to be empathic and at least pretend to care, they should be in a different industry. I would never support such a vet. Thankfully, I found another vet - Wellesley Animal Hospital. The receptionist was so lovely and genuinely concerned and Dr. Ma was amazing with my distraught daughter (and myself) when we discovered our beloved pet had cancer. We decided to put her to sleep and was so grateful to be in a caring environment. Read Less

Do not go here! When a vet takes your dog into a private room for a long time, and never returns, that is questionable. When you leave and the bill is $325 yet the anti-inflammatories you came for were $27, there is a problem. I've been in contact since then. Once they promised to call when my refill request was complete--no call...they 'lost' the request... Then they promised the vet would call me to discuss my concerns. The office is closed and I did not receive a call all day.I especially enjoyed when they blamed me for paying the bill without questioning it. The problem is that the vet NEVER returned to tell me what he was subscribing and why. Perhaps a good technique when they don't want questions?Normally I wouldn't complain, or write reviews in general. My dog has a  problem that seems serious/life-threatening, so I am inclined to think a vet would care more about that than making sure he gets a $25 nail trim. The priorities are questionable when that is a main concern yet your dog can't bark or move well. Read Less

This place didn't even explain the pricing all I wanted was shots done that's all but then I find out the poop sample test was added They really need to explain the pricing of what they're doing such as exam + shots add ons etc Found a much better vet that charges less and explains in detail of the shots etc and isn't pushy with trying to "sell" extras Read Less

Generally the staff is great. But the phone call I just had with whoever picked up the phone just left a very sour taste in my mouth. I was aware that I was asking something vague about my rabbit, obviously I'm calling THEM because I can't tell what it is. Instead of providing me with some idea or suggestion to come in - the lady who was on the phone with me just said: "..I don't know.. can't tell without seeing it." And just left it there. No effort at all. There was no: would you like to bring your pet in for a check up?"; no: can you describe what you're seeing to me in more detail?. Just silence. I stood there thinking, should I be courteous enough to say bye or just hang up the phone? I understand that they can't properly diagnose something without seeing it in person. But it could be nothing at all and I wouldn't be the wiser. But at the very least, fake like you give a crap. Because I don't want to bring my beloved animal here to people who can't be bothered to help when your job IS to help. I've never had an issue in the past 2 years I've been here - YES I am a repeat customer. Thanks for making me feel like you value your business.. I'll be taking it elsewhere. Read Less

I'm a first time rat owner, and when I woke up one morning to find one of my boys with an eye infection, I was worried. I searched for clinics that would take rats and had Greenwood recommended to me by one. I took him in, and despite forgetting to call first, the staff were all very friendly. The lady at the desk took down our information, told us what the price of the exam would be, and booked us an appointment for that afternoon. When we returned, a lady with blonde hair took us into one of the rooms to get the exam started. The way they treated my animal astounded me. They handled him with great care and ALWAYS considered his needs first. He was clearly nervous, so the first lady got me to take him out of the box and put him on the scale. Took his weight, and left to get the vet. Dr. Erin (I didn't catch her last name) was the one who attended to him, and I have never been more impressed with a veterinarian. She obviously loves her jobs, and is very much a people and animal person! She commented on how cute and healthy my rat looked, gave him a quick look-over, and ruled out any possibility of injury to his eye. She was very patient with him, even when he pooped everywhere, peed on her, and jumped onto the floor. She even checked him over after he pulled that stunt to make sure everything was okay. She showed us how to administer the eye drops that he'd been prescribed and when we expressed concerns at the cost of everything made sure that we would be able to afford it, which impressed me greatly. This has, hands down, been the best vet experience out of all the animals I've owned and all the places I've lived. I will definitely be taking my boys here should they have any other issues. I thought that $85 was a bit much to just exam a rat, but I'm very pleased with the quality of service I received. If I could give more stars I would. Read Less

I want to start by saying that Dr. Munn was one of the most personable, most knowledgable small animal vets in the city. I LOVED him. Taking my rabbit to him was as pleasurable as it can be taking an animal to the vet. I would give Dr. Munn 5*, no questions asked. The problem is, Dr. Munn is not there anymore (whether this is temporary or permanent remains to be seen). One of his replacements, a Dr. Banerjee, is also WONDERFUL. Kind and compassionate, and she knows her stuff. I would not hesitate recommending bringing your rabbit to her. Unfortunately, for what ended up being the last week of my rabbit's life, Dr. Banerjee was on vacation, and we were given her replacement, Dr. Merryn McIninch. We were there that day to check the dose of the medication we were giving my rabbit to treat congestive heart failure (he was acting normal, but had been breathing hard for a while). Dr. McIninch tried to convince us to put him down then and there. Except he was still happy and eating and running and jumping, so I said no. She increased the medication dose with the warning it might just make things worse. But her attitude was very much, "this is already over so nothing really matters." She did come off as somewhat knowledgeable about rabbits, but had zero bedside manner and was very cold and stand offish. In fact, for the follow up appointment, I specifically booked for once Dr. Banerjee was back because I did not want to deal with Dr. McIninch again. Unfortunately, my rabbit never made it to the follow up appointment.Literally the evening after seeing Dr. McIninch, my animal started to decline. The meds made him dizzy and he was falling over. And I'd talked to other rabbit owners about other possible solutions. I tried calling about changing his meds twice and the tech (who was wonderful--I will say all of the techs I dealt with in this place are INCREDIBLE. Thank God for them) asked the Dr and was told they would get back to me the next week and not to worry. My rabbit never made that, either. One morning, he fell over and couldn't get up. We brought him in, knowing full well what we were going to have to do. And unfortunately for us again, Dr. McIninch was the one to do it. After giving me a low blow remark about how she told me she saw this coming days ago (which is what any grieving owner wants to hear), she went about the procedure with not a trace of emotion. It was NOT quick, and it was NOT peaceful, though I have been told by others rabbits fight going to sleep, so this may be common. I don't know. All I know is it was the worst 30-40 minutes of my life and I was offered zero comfort by the vet. When it was over, all the Dr said was, "His heart has stopped." and she left the room. I was practically collapsing on the floor with grief and didn't even warrant a kind word from this woman. Once again, thank goodness for the kind techs who got me Kleenex and hugged me.I don't like leaving this review. I used to tell everyone with a rabbit to go to this place. And I still will. If you get Dr. Banerjee. (The problem is, if you were unlucky like me, you might not get her every time). Or if you are okay with someone who is cold and unsympathetic, then that is okay. I was not, and I truly feel my pet (my best friend) deserved better in those final hours, and I can't help but wonder if his dose was increased too much too fast because Dr. McIninch had already given up on him. As for me, have been left with guilt and nightmares and questions from his time with Dr.McIninch and none of it seems to be going away any time soon. Read Less

We adopted a senior rabbit last year from friends who were moving away.  Bunny was a beautiful, mellow male Rex with a great disposition.  Very friendly and loveable.  With his age, we knew we may not have him for long.  At a checkup with Dr. Munn a few months ago and he was determined to be 8 years old.  We enjoyed having him in the house, or in the backyard for him to explore, under our watchful eyes.  Aside from the regular pellet food, he loved Chinese greens.  In the last month, he ate very little, lost a lot of weight, lost fur on his cheeks and had laboured breathing. The prognosis was not good. We did not want bunny to suffer.  The staff was fantastic in sending him to bunny heaven.  We cannot thank them enough. Read Less

Being an animal person I have always been at the mercy of vets, many of which make all manor of claims but in the end it's all about the money for them and Greenwood is no exception unfortunately. I have searched far and wide for trustworthy Veterinary care for the plethora of beautiful animals I have been privileged to have in my life so I have had my fair share of experiences with vets and few have lived up to the challenge.I decided to try Greenwood as they advertise the vet being Dr Murr I believe who specializes in the care of rabbits and small animals. However  I was seen by one of the other vets ( Dr Mackenich; who's name is conveniently not available on the website, so the spelling may be wrong ) when I took my bunny Wonka in to be examined, which did concern me slightly as I was hoping to see the specialist who was the primary reason I chose to drive to the other end of the city. She seemed pleasant enough however her only real concern was for me to bring in all 4 of my rabbits, 3 of which aren't showing any symptoms but she insisted... Of course... That all 4 come in so they could charge us the exam fee x4.  I told her I was unable to bring in all the rabbits at once and asked if there was anything they could recommend to make it possible but they offered zero options or help in anyway. They seemed more concerned with pushing products then really helping the animal. We were told at the end of that visit that we would only have to drop by and pickup the next bout of wonkas meds but when the time came around they not only insisted that we pay them yet another examination fee for Wonka but they wanted to see all the rest of the bunnies and charge us the exam fee for each. As I said ive dealt with many vets and I know my last two didn't require an exam fee for a follow up so after driving all the way across the city to a tiny, kinda run down vet with no parking I was a little taken aback by how greedy they were. The lady at the front desk was also a little off putting, she cracked a few sarcastic jokes which although I can't remember the context exactly I found unsettling at the time. She had a pretty cold and sarcastic demeanor that I didn't find conducive to what you would expect from a secretary or someone dealing with the public and again offered no help or information when asked. Lastly, I had to literally hound them just to get a response... I had called to inquire about the next round of meds to have the secretary claim someone would get back to me which they never did. They knew cause they administered the meds that he required the meds for a certain date otherwise any progress made would have been lost. So having to chase them down to do their jobs and then have them try to swindle us for more money was needless to say very upsetting for me.I will not be making the hr long trip again to venture out to be exploited by another greedy vet as there are plenty to choose from and I'm sure I can find one closer to rip me off Read Less

I cannot sing the praises of Dr. Munn and the staff at the Greenwood Park Animal Hospital highly enough. After we had been turned away by other veterinarians (The abysmal Animal Hospital of High Park) in an emergency situation, Dr.Munn took the time to asses our rabbit after-hours, deemed that immediate surgery was necessary, showed me a step-by-step photo breakdown of the operation he proposed, and was completely upfront about her chances of survival. Not only that, but the staff were more than generous in taking our financial situation into consideration.Three years later, our rabbit is alive and thriving (though minus an eye, several teeth and portions of her jaw) thanks to excellent emergency services and post-op care provided by the Greenwood Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Munn has been her vet ever since, and his attention, expertise and straightforwardness have always been impeccable.I've been consistently pleased with the cheerful desk staff and friendly veterinary assistants, who remember our and our rabbits names. Greenwood Park is the third veterinarian we've patronized in Toronto, and although their location is more than an hour out of our way, they will have our continued patronage for all of our animal care needs. This is the best vet in the city.(Also, if you're going to wait a surgery out, there's a lovely coffee shop called Grinder on the corner who don't mind pets tagging along) Read Less

This was probably the worst vet experience I have ever had. I would never recommend greenwood animal park hospital to any pet or rabbit owners. The front desk receptionists and staff are extremely rude and cold. I had a pet rabbit and through research I found that greenwood animal park hospital specializes in rabbits and small animals. For each visit I came down from Milton. I was 15 mins late for my last visit and drove through a snow storm with extremely bad road conditions from Milton and had mentioned that my rabbit stopped eating, pooping and urinating for over 14 hours. When I got there, they made me wait another 2.5-3 hours and were the last to be treated knowing that he had a serious case. The technicians couldn't even feed him some water or quickly check his condition to see how serious he was as he was slowly dying away. And when we got in the room they mentioned he had to be euthanized because he was extremely dehydrated and weak. He also had an another condition which was not curable but the whole process was unexpected and completely rushed as the clinic was closed. They couldn't wait for other family members to come for this process as they were already closed and suggested the procedure to be done immediately. I came to pick up his ashes the following week and someone had called in from the clinic and asked me to be there between 1-1:30 . So I called just to let them know that I'm on my way and I'll be there at 1:15 and that I was coming from Milton. Again the receptionist was extremely rude and cold and said that they close at 1 and that I would have to come back again. I got there at 1:15 and had to wait out the door for a good 15 minutes knocking. Until they finally decided to open the door for me to get his ashes (which I have already paid $200 for). I have never met Dr. Munn and he may be a great guy but the staff there has no empathy and are extremely rude. It was probably the worst final moments for my pet and my self. I cannot give this establishment as much praise as they deserve. Foremost, Dr Munn and his staff are absolutely amazing. Top notch care when it came to my bunny when she needed emergency surgeries. They were so accommodating and understanding, as much of a mess I was from being upset over her situation, they were so helpful and caring. Dr Munn is amazing at his care and skill for small animals - just in the way he talks to them, you can tell he has nothing but their interest and care at heart. He saved my bunny and I am forever grateful. His staff was so patient with me calling to check-up, making appointments, etc. they did their best to work around my schedule. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wants a reliable and loving vet. Read Less

If I could give this place a rating of a 0 I would. I started coming here as I bought a rabbit and a lot of the vets I researched did not take rabbits.I went a couple of times within the past year and had okay service but there is one receptionist who was always frazzled and rude. I was only ever booked with Dr. Munn so I can only speak to my interactions with him.In the fall my rabbit wasn't really drinking water and thus wasn't urinating very much. I took him to the vet and Dr. Munn felt his stomach looked at his teeth and took a urine sample. My bill came to $300! I was shocked that I was charged for a full exam from him touching his stomach. I only wanted the urine sample because the exam wouldn't have told anything! My second bad encounter was even worse. First the horrible receptionist/technician answered the phone. It was 8:07am (they were open 7 minutes only) and she was already frazzled. She booked my appointment and when I asked if it would be with Dr. Munn she said no it is with a technician, we do not have the time to cut your rabbits nails on a Saturday. When I said I would have to rebook she hung up on me. No bye no let's see what else we can do. Just a hang up. I called back the following week because I needed to get my rabbits nails cut and I had called a few other places and they do not take rabbits. When I showed up I waited 15 minutes before anyone even came out to greet me. The receptionist/technician came running out saying they had an emergency and all hands are on deck including her. I'll be honest, I don't really care I just want to be checked in for the appointment to be over. She puts me in a room and says they'll be right with me. She doesn't put a new blanket on the table - so she expects my rabbit to be put on the metal and slide off because there was currently no towel! When I opened his cage she was shocked and started questioning if I even had an appointment and she thought it was a dog not a rabbit. I have a dwarf rabbit - there is no way you can mistaken him for a dog! She told me I had to wait and when I asked if she had any idea of how long (I had an appointment right after) and she freaked out that they had an emergency and she had no idea what time. I asked if I should just reschedule because I had an appointment that I could not be late for. She freaked out that she had no idea and there's an emergency and that's where their focus is and slammed the door. My husband came a couple of minutes later confused that we were still waiting because there were 2 technicians in the waiting area talking away. I waited 30 minutes and finally left. I was able to find another vet that takes rabbits and they were absolutely amazing! I would never go back to Greenwood especially because once I left they never even called to check if everything was okay or to apologize for the way we were treated. I understand emergencies but that is not an excuse to act the way she did. I will not recommend this place and my new vet is Ashbridges Bay Animal Hospital which is about a 5 minute drive from Greenwood Animal Hospital. Read Less

Great clinic, sensitive to both the pet and the owner. I have had excellent experiences with the vets as well as the vet techs. When my 18 year old cat fell ill recently, they didn't pressure me into any invasive measures I was uncomfortable with. All options were put in front of me, and the vet said she would support whichever decision I made. We tried the least invasive mid-range option for treating my cat. Unfortunately the treatment didn't improve her condition, but, as I said, she was 18. When I lost her the staff was very sweet and kind, even ushering me into a room to deal with the bill, and going to manually enter my credit card info so I didn't have to stand in the waiting room in my distressed state. Their kindness and sensitivity at such an awful time was greatly appreciated. Read Less

When you care about the health and longevity of a special hamster in your life, the choice of vet can be crucial.   If you want your hamster to have a fulfilling and dignified existence, Dr. Munn can help you along the way.  I continue to be impressed by his experience with various hamster-specific ailments and his genuine desire to continue learning and sharing his experiences about how to improve the quality of life of my hamster.Unfortunately, hamsters have a history of being disposable lab animals and most other veterinarian practices in Canada still see them that way.  Without the current knowledge about hamster husbandry, most people let hamsters end up as children's toys living in tiny enclosures and consuming poor diets.  The majority of these tiny animals rarely even see a vet when they are suffering.Since I would like my animal companion to have a better life than that, Dr. Munn is the only veterinarian in Toronto whom I fully trust with my hamster's medical care.  This practice specializes in small animals, so your little one will be handled with the utmost respect.  Specifically, what truly makes Dr. Munn unique is his dedication to stay on top of international trends in specialized care for all living creatures (not just cats, dogs, and rabbits).  As someone mentioned earlier, I never feel pressured to run extra tests, but always feel comfortable knowing that Greenwood Park Animal Hospital has the knowledgeable vet and the necessary facilities to diagnose and treat my small animal friend. I have taken 2 of my cats to Greenwood Animal Hospital a few times and have always been happy with the service and care received.  The last visit, though, was a really really special one.  My cat, Henry, had to be admitted to the vet's for a week due to a serious condition.  During this time (and during the initial visit), Dr. Munn and the staff were upfront and honest about the prognosis and the quote.  I absolutely felt at all times that Henry was being very well cared for (it is clear that all staff love animals!) and was not in any discomfort.  I have to write that Dr. Munn was incredibly generous during Henry's visit and I really feel that Henry was given the best care possible - and yes, at a reasonable cost.   I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greenwood Animal Hospital. Attention Toronto Bird Owners!  I just found the perfect vet!My darling bird got into a scrap with my other bird, and I had to take her to the VEC Sunday evening, then had to do a follow up with my regular vet today (Monday). I usually go to High Park, which I don't love, but heard about this vet and decided to give them a try. They were able to squeeze me in last minute (as we needed an appointment to get my bird on her antibiotic medicine that the VEC was not able to give us). We saw Dr Luckwaldt and he was amazing! The vet itself is lovely, clean, and the staff are all very nice and caring. It was obvious they had experience working with birds before which was great! Dr. Luckwaldt himself has had a lot of experience in avian medicine (20+ years) and also has experience working with raptors, so I know my little birdie was no problem for him!He was able to check her stitches, clean them up, and informed me of all the things that could go wrong, and also informed me of things that are going well (in regards to her injury). What I liked most is that he didn't treat me like an ignorant bird owner (which is nice, since I look really young, I get that a lot even though I devote a lot of my life to avian care). Dr. Munn also popped in to say hello and told me he also had a Quaker parrot (although his was a lot nastier than mine, lol).It was great cost-wise also, as I paid an arm and a leg at the VEC and they said they would treat this as a follow-up appointment which saved me a LOT of money. They also said they woud remove my stitches for free, which is something HP would NOT do (they charged me $50 to just come in and look at blood results!).So yeah, great experience and highly recommend them as THE avian vet. Dr. Munn, the main vet at this clinic, saw my pet recently for a respiratory issue I asked him to look at.  He said my animal didn't seem to have one, and charged me about $180 in fees.  A week later the infection I asked him to look at almost killed my animal, and resulted in hundreds more in fees.  I had to go to another clinic of course--not just because Dr. Munn missed the illness I specifically asked him to look at in the first place, but because Munn doesn't like working when animals are sick and so wouldn't see wouldn't see my pet anyway.I know a lot of people like this guy, but being charged nearly 200 bucks for an exam that misses a deathly illness that the patient's human is *specifically asking about*, then not being around when the illness becomes full-blown is something people should be doing without. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Our three rats were aging and having various health complications.  The vet at Greenwood Park examined them, outlined their problems, suggested I think it over and I decided to have the rats euthanized a couple of days later. The vet gave me the option of staying with them for sedation and euthanasia process which I did.  She and her assistant  explained everything they were doing to make sure the rats weren't in any discomfort. The team at Greenwood couldn't have been more supportive, caring and compassionate, not only of the rats but also of me as the owner.  I would definitely go back to Greenwood Park.

If I could give a 0 i would. Read Less

I just called to get some information about possibly having my cat put down which is obviously a very emotional conversation to have in the first place. He is 16 and is having seizures and has completely lost control of his bowels. I have known him for 16 years and I can see that he is uncomfortable. The person I spoke to was rude and cold and did not give me any answers aside from saying, "16 is not old for a cat." I ended up just hanging up the phone because I was so shocked that someone could be so detached and unhelpful. She provided me with no information but at least I can confidently say that I will NOT be bringing my cat here for his final moments. I know a lot of pet owners in the neighbourhood and I will be telling all of them to stay away from here as well. Maybe Dr. Munn is nice but they should really hire more personable front desk staff.
