Money grubbing and holds pets for ransom; One time my kitty was sick with something but we could only afford in house testing (that wouldn't do much,) but we still paid it for it was all we could afford to do. I had paid the amount required--going into overdraft to do so--and was awaiting my cats cage when this large, overweight man came in an started heckling me for more money, saying the in house test was useless. I protested saying, "I have no more money to give. Literally, I don't, I have nothing left," but he kept hounding me and when I got "irrational," he sent in a lady nurse to deal with me. I told her what had happened with the other vet--that everything was already settled by him so I didn't understand what the problem was with this new jerk--and that, "I want my cats cage, *now,*" and awaited for my mother to pick us up. While I was being berated for more cash, hiwever, he would hold onto and stroke my cat rather vigorously; in a domineering way that I had to physically get between in order to stop. It was extremely unsettling. Finally my cage came and even THEN he protested, asking for more money to which I said, "If you care so god damn much, then you absorb the price and send it off for outside testing because I literally do not have any more money give. Check the paper work I signed; ask the lady why I had to pay with two cards; the well is dry, damn it! We're DONE, now let me leave!" I was wondering if I was going to have to fight my way out. Sadly, this wasn't our only visit. They examined our other, now late cat, Isis and just determined she had anal cancer through physical exam alone and put her down on the spot. We really didn't get much time to say goodbye and we were never convinced euthanasia was necessary but they preyed upon my grieving mother and forced the issue. I wish we knew of the other vets office--Beaches Animal Hospital--not that far away from this scam. Sure, it might not be open 24hrs--they're open from 8am - 10pm every day of the week--but they're respectful when you say, "I can't afford this," try and give you options. They never guilt you for not being able to afford treatment. That's another thing. This vets office would list unchosen treatments on the bill as "Patient refused," as if we're purposefully trying to be delinquent. This is a guilt tactic that only this place employs. Every other vet simply removes the option from the bill entirely at the end of the session. Sad part is, they're preying upon people's desperation. We really do need a 24hr vets office in this location but the people running it only care about dollar signs and will do anything/everything they can to get the money out of you. Please, someone reputable, buy out the greedy gusses, change the branding and run that place like you're supposed to. I've given up hope on the "professionals" that currently run the place. Read Less

I feel this review is long overdue. I've been a client here since December 2014, both my female peruvian guinea pigs Cocoa and Caramel received the best of care under Dr. Mitelman and Dr. Satha. The first time I came to this hospital was for Caramel, who had a cyst rupture. Little did I know that in the coming years, 3 surgeries would follow for Caramel, as well as 3 surgeries for Cocoa either for more cysts, ovarian cysts, tumours, spay, ect. They both recovered well, and Cocoa passed away October 6th 2017, whereas Caramel passed away March 26th, 2018. Both were 5 1/2 years of age when they passed. Wasn't impressed, I called because my puppy ate some pills. I clearly stated the drug he consumed, how many milligrams each one was and how many pills he ate, I even said that the pills were for breast cancer. Her follow up question to that was "so did he eat dark or milk chocolate?" I restated everything and she put me on hold, we immediately got disconnected, I called back right away and she asked me questions she had already asked and had previously told me she was looking into. At this point I was pretty put off. She put me on hold for a second time and we got disconnected again. No one attempted to call me back. I didn't feel comfortable bringing my pet there after this experience and I called a different emergency vet. This is only one experience, so perhaps the girl I spoke with isn't a true representation of this location but I definitely wouldn't recommend it! Read Less

Uses the 24 hour to there advantage. Nice nurses but Dr Zak Saleh tried raising the prices, telling us false information, scaring us, then he tries to take advantage of the fact that we were scared to make over charge us. He gave us a quote, then came back and more than doubled the quote. We realised what he was doing by giving us bogus numbers so we asked for the quote sheet and wanted to get on our way but he refused to give us the quote sheet (probably because he himself knew the prices were bogus). On our way out we had the most help from the nurse/lady at the front, but Dr Zak came out his office to interfere with the conversation and make sure she wasn't giving us ANY help. I rate this doctor a 0/5, he was rude, lazy, he lied to our faces numerous times and had poor ethics. It's a shame because I knew one of the late co owners. And this "doctor" Zak ruined the image of this clinic for us. Read Less

The Kingston Road Veterinary Clinic is awesome and the very best vet clinic I've ever taken our cats, and we've taken our numerous cats to clinics for over 30 years. The empathy for both the patient and the family exhibited by the staff combined with their truly exemplary authentic veterinary care, makes this clinic second to none. I only wish human medical treatment could be so good. The star of the clinic, in my view, is Dr. Jonathan Mitelman, whose diagnostic and surgical talent has saved two of our cats who had challenging and complicated conditions. He patiently and thoroughly explained each step along the diagnostic and treatment journey with compassion, deep expertise, and humility. My experience with Dr. Mitelman has found him to be professional, caring, and dedicated. I, for one, am glad a clinic of the calibre of this one exists in the city. Read Less

Wish I could rate this place zero stars. Absolutely horrible service, our family has been taking our two dogs here for 12 years now and consistently are pushed to spend ridiculous amounts of money on unnecessary vaccinations and tests. The vets that we have had in the last few years just want to get down to business and want to quote "talk money later". Today Dr. Eugene Alexeev was uneducated on our dogs files and not understanding at all when we asked for explanations on each vaccination in order to determine which were really necessary. This place is a total cash grab and I am not convinced that the vets we have had even care about the animals they treat. Only positive thing to say about this place is that Esther at reception is lovely, genuine and personable and seems to really care about clients and their pets. Only vets that our family has ever had a positive experience with have left this animal hospital.. wonder why. The cherry on top today had to be when the vets assistant was incredibly unpleasant and unskilled. While our dog was getting his vaccination she had no grip on him even after we told her that he was going to squirm. He was poked and prodded with a needle with no success and no apology from her when I stepped in and did it myself because I couldn't bare to watch the repeated attempts and failures any longer. DISGUSTING. Read Less

Dr. Mitelman is a kind and caring person and an excellent vet.  Today, I lost my cat of 10 years.  She stopped eating and Dr. Mitelman spent almost 3 hours with us diagnosing her problem and offering solutions.  At no time did we feel like we were being bullied into unreasonable procedures or excessive payments. Unfortunately, what she had was incurable and she went downhill very quickly between Tuesday and today.  We decided to end her suffering after a long and happy life (15.5 years).  He put her to sleep and was extremely comforting - I do not know what I would have done if anyone else was to have done it.  Our experience with Kingston Road Animal Hospital and Dr. Mitelman was exceptional.  I would definitely suggest giving this clinic a try.  We will hopefully be returning for something less serious in the future. Read Less

With our little Izzy (cat) hardly breathing we rushed to VETS Toronto. They took him in and thanks to Dr. M (Mitelman) he is alive today. Since he was only a year old it was a rough go. I have been going here for 35 years and think the staff are truly amazing. They are kind, respectful and always go the extra mile. When one of my cats was dying, who was terrified of going to the vet, they came to my house to put her to sleep, for which I shall be forever grateful. They always have my Dog's best interests in mind and have performed surgery on him many times for a recurring health problem. Thank you for looking after my sweet girls throughout their troubles. Read Less

Took my Hamster Porkchop to this location cause she was in need of medical treatment, diagnosed with rectal prolapse and they gave her an operation. But the rectum would not stay in, but after another operation the rectum stayed in place for many hours. But my poor baby couldn't keep it in, we had no choice to but her to sleep. Hardest choice I have ever done with my family. They were gentle, caring and very supportive with us all. RIP Porkchop daddy will love and miss you baby girl. Read Less
