Dr. Larry Wilder and the whole team at LPAH are just so amazing! My husband and I moved to Toronto with our French Bulldog, Luna, a few months ago. We were concerned that we would have a hard time finding good care for Luna and we were relieved that LPAH was accepting new patients. The team has been so supportive, guiding us through a scary surgery that Luna needed on her soft palate and tonsils. Dr. Wilder took the time to explain the procedure, risks and rewards, and showed us video of his evaluation of Luna so we could really understand why he recommended the procedure. After waiting months for a date to get our little guy neutered we decided we were not going to wait any longer and we made the switch to Lawerence Park Animal Hospital. Best decision we could have ever made. I was able to get the initial consult and the surgery date in less than two weeks. The clinic runs like a well oiled machine and everyone provides amazing care. Their pre and post care explanation and follow up are fantastic. They called immediately after surgery with an update on how Teddy was doing and to go through post care instructions. They also took extra time when we picked him up to go through and thoroughly explain post care directions and medications again to make sure we understood everything before we took Teddy home. They called the following day to check up on him and book his stitch removal apt. It’s refreshing when you get phenomenal care not only from the Dr. but also the techs and the entire team. After my vet had retired and sold her clinic to a large veterinarian company (which offered horrendous service) I made an appointment with Dr Wilder to see my 2 babies. I need to state that I am a very anxious fur mummy so I can be a challenge for any vet. My first appointment was for a check up for my 11 year old Yorkie and new Maltese pup. Dr. Wilder was wonderful!  His exam was comprehensive and he explained everything in a calm reassuring way . I never felt rushed. My Yorkie needed his teeth cleaned and some bad teeth pulled. To say I was scared is putting it mildly. Dr . Wilder performed the surgery and called me personally following the surgery to review the surgery and reassure me. His staff called me the next day to see how Benny was doing. Months later it was time for my Maltese to be neutered and baby teeth pulled. Again Dr Wilder called to assure me all was well after surgery. My husband who is a physician commented on how precise Finns incision was . Dr Wilder also got the baby teeth out in one piece. Bottom line Dr wilder and his staff are wonderful and committed to caring for their patients. We are a family that will always have dogs and Dr Wilder will be our clear choice to care for them. Larry has been our vet for more than 15 years ... since Day One he and his team have looked after my dogs -- Henrietta (Henry), Rollie and now Bertie -- as if they were family. We haven't lived in the neighbourhood for more than 12 years now - in fact we no longer even live in Toronto - but we will never go to another vet as long as LPAH is available. One day we happened to be pushing our newborn daughter in her stroller while walking our first dog, a cocker spaniel named Oscar, down Yonge Street. Larry Wilder was outside his animal hospital handing out his shingle. We stopped, chatted with him and he's been our vet ever since. Six dogs later, he is a godsend. He not only takes care of our dogs, but when I volunteered with Labrador Retriever Rescue of Ontario, he looked after those dogs for me too. He puts his patients first. He is fair, generous and compassionate. The team he has built around him, including Kerry Tait, he co-Vet, is extraordinary. They have become family. We are about to move south and west to Liberty Village after 23 years in North Toronto but we will not be changing vets. Our 13 year old dog, Cody, had a large tumour removed from his chest. It was successfully removed in a 3-hour surgery. Both before and after the surgery the staff at LPAH kept us well informed. I am a new client at LPAH and very impressed by this clinic. In September my 9 year-old cat had a nasty urinary tract infection.  Over the weekend it became apparent that he was suffering and on Saturday evening, after having left it too late to get appointment at LPAH, I took him  to the Emergency Clinic on Eglinton West.  They were very good (although expensive!) and my cat was released Sunday evening feeling much better. On the Monday morning I had a follow-up appointment at LPAH.  Dr. Kerry Tait was excellent. She was very gentle in handling my skittish kitty who seemed to be quite relaxed when being examined. She listened closely to my questions, gave thorough answers, and I didn't feel rushed.  Staff followed up with me over the next couple of weeks, calling me on two occasions.  After a urinary analysis was completed Dr.Tait called to give me the results and she made sensible suggestions that actually worked as to how to get my kitty to drink more water. She has very kind, reassuring manner.  The costs were very reasonable.The staff are welcoming, alert, and helpful.  Previous to this visit I had only used LPAH on one occasion, which was simply to board my cat for the day. On that occasion, he received vaccinations as well.  I am very pleased with the care my cat received and  recommend this clinic. Read Less

We recently added a poodle puppy to our family. Neither my husband nor I have ever had a dog so we are the typical nervous first timers. We live very close to LPAH and so decided to take our puppy there. Dr. Wilder could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable. Our puppy was very comfortable with Dr. Wilder and all of the staff at LPAH. We probably asked a lot of stupid questions (being newbies) but none of the staff made us feel stupid! Amazingly, after each visit, one of the staff at LPAH called us to make sure that our puppy was feeling well, did not react to any of the medications (vaccines, heartworm pills, etc.). What great service. Also, we had a couple of questions regarding neutering our dog -- Dr. Wilder was away at the time but on his return, he called us back at our cottage... GREAT SERVICE! I joked with the staff recently that I heard many dogs fear the vet, when we get close to LPAH my dog drags me with all his strength to get in the door of LPAH. I had taken my new puppy to LPAH earlier this week. It was my first time as a client since the other vet I deal with has decided to only deal with exotics and no longer accepts dogs and cats as new patients. LPAH was close by and had good reviews so I booked an appointment. In one phone call they took all of my info as well as my dog's and everything was ready to go. The process was very easy. As well I was able to get an appointment that worked perfectly with my schedule which was amazing.Everyone at the clinic was friendly and helpful. The office is small but very clean. I saw Dr Wilder for my puppy's checkup and he was great, very knowledgeable, personable and really great with my dog. Imagine taking a puppy to a check up at 7 weeks and the vet was so good that my little guy didn't make a peep and barely squirmed. All of the staff I interacted with were wonderful and they all seemed very passionate about what they do. The customer service was great and everyone who handled him was great with my dog. I was put in a very difficult position overnight, trying to do what is best for my Westie, Trotsky, and when I came in this morning, I had to ask Dr. Wilder for his understanding as to why not to proceed with surgery right away. Without going into details, without hesitation Dr. Wilder suggested what was the only solution that would be best for all. Dr. Wilder showed incredible judgment and tact and made a decision that was difficult for him and the staff at this wonderful Animal Hospital. He gave of himself and of his staff in a way that is very unusual these days - he took my needs into account, as well as the dog's and his own/his staff's. I can't say enough to recommend very highly this Animal Hospital. All his staff are of excellent calibre. They not only have the experience and will technically perform what is necessary, but know how to handle us "canine companions" (the humans who own them). The service here is second to none. What can we say about Dr. Larry and Dr. Kerry? There are no more capable and caring veterinarians on the planet. They treat our fur babies as if they were their own. The staff are dedicated and attentive to our pets. They know our cats by name and are always excited when we bring them in. Our cat was diagnosed with a heart condition that led to serious complications when he had a stroke. Dr. Larry and Dr. Kerry followed up twice weekly for over a month to make sure that our little fellow was doing fine. Although we had low expectations for his future, the little guy has regained use of his legs and while he may never be 100%, we credit his remarkable recovery, in part, to the great care he received at Lawrence Park. Dr Tait is amazing as is the rest of the staff I've met. My cat as been going there for a few years and recently had to have some (12!) teeth pulled and Dr Tait went above and beyond. I was nervous about the whole procedure and she explained it and made me feel at ease and I knew my cat was in good hands. She then touched base with me multiple times during the procedure. Given the opportunity, I will not trust the care and well-being of my four dogs to anyone other than Dr. Wilder and the rest of the staff at Lawrence Park Animal Hospital. Along with being caring and compassionate, Dr. Wilder is the most competent veterinarian that I have met in my 30+ years of "pet parenting." I am a new dog owner as of this past summer. Lawrence Park Animal Hospital came highly recommended to me by a trusted person who is very involved with canine rescue dogs. My puppy had to stay overnight for some tests and examinations. During the two visits that I had dropped her off and picked her up, each one of the clinic members made a point of greeting me, introducing themselves, and trying to make a personal connection to my puppy. It was a very welcoming environment. The doctor that my puppy was treated by thoroughly impressed me. His dedication is noted in his detail to examination, thoroughness of explanations, and even the dedication to his obvious passion by travelling to developing countries to treat the lost and the sick animals there. Add in a splash of welcomed humour and I knew I was in the right place. This is a clinic that whether it is a routine visit, an outpatient procedure, or a more in-depth treatment requiring a sleepover, you leave knowing and trusting that your pet is/will be in good hands. I find all the staff at Lawrence Park to be absolutely great. They are helpful, caring, and very helpful in answering questions. Dr. Wilder is especially helpful, knowledgeable and cares greatly for pets. My Shiloh Shepherd was the first this season with Lyme disease. He explained the condition so very clearly, answered follow up e-mail questions, called to see how my dog was doing with the medication. Dr. Kerry Tait is an excellent veterinarian. We first met her when we brought my old and sick childhood cat to Lawrence Park Animal Hospital; she provided very supportive end-of-life care for the last month of Cally's life, and when the time came to put Cally down, she made time for an appointment that very day. We can tell she genuinely cares about animals, and does not pressure us humans to put our pets through unnecessary procedures in order to make more money. We recently adopted Rosco, a rescue from Turks and Caicos. Shortly after, we were devastated to find out Rosco had heartworm disease. My vet had me so upset, telling me Rosco might not survive the treatment and he was reading from a manual. I was not comfortable at all with what he was telling me. Then, thanks to a very good man, we were introduced to Dr. Larry Wilder. Right from our first conversation, I knew Rosco would receive the best care possible. Dr Wilder explained the treatment in terms that we could understand and was confident Rosco would be o.k. following the treatments. He also helped me as we went through this. The staff are amazing, caring, compassionate and confident. Rosco has completed his heartworm treatment and is doing great thanks to Dr.Wilder and his team. My family has been loyal clients at LPAH for over 20 years. We have had many cats throughout those years and have always trusted them with our very loved kitties. Even when I brought my cat in for a routine neutering and I was called shortly after to be told that he had died and been unable to recover from the anesthesia. I was of course devastated. But I forgave them. When my mom called me sobbing because her cat was obviously on deaths door and the receptionist at LPAH would not let her come in with him due to having no appointments available. Even when she asked if she could come and sit with him in the waiting room they told us not to. They finally gave her an appointment 3 hours later and I made her go early because the cat was so obviously in huge distress. The cat died in their waiting room because no one would see us earlier. They never recommended that we should have gone to emergency with him, which any good vet would have suggested. But, again, I forgave them.Now I have moved out of the area. I just got a new kitten and decided I would book him at a new vet, but keep my older cat with LPAH. My older cat was not doing well with adjusting to the new kitten and had stopped eating completely. He was lethargic and hadn't eaten in almost 2 days. So on Monday morning when they opened I called immediately to get my older cat an appointment. I told them how sick he was and they said (again) that they had no appointments and that they could see him the NEXT DAY. I stressed how badly he was doing and they said they would get back to me in a couple minutes. 30 minutes later no one had called. I called back. They again said they'd call back. Don't forget, I have stressed how sick and desperate my cat is and they haven't even suggested I go to the emergency vet. In the mean time, I call the new vet office where I have booked my kitten an appointment for the next day. I had never even been to the new vet before so I didn't expect that they would see a brand new client with an emergency. But they did. They told me that I had to come in right away because cats don't do well at all if they stop eating. On my way to the new vet (over an hour later at this point) LPAH called to say I could come and drop my cat off and they'd see him when they had time. So I should drop of my distressed cat and have NO ONE watching him for god knows how long? My cat needed immediate care and we have had to force feed him to get nutrients in him. It's been so difficult and at least someone was there for us. No thanks to LPAH. If you go to this vet, expect to have to go somewhere else when you have a sick pet. They are only good for booking appointments far in advance. Seems that they don't like dealing with actual sick animals. I'm absolutely disgusted by the service I did not receive. Go anywhere else. We've been friends of LPAH for over 20 years. Cats have been our family members forever and most have been fortunate enough to benefit from the caring team at Lawrence Park. Our current senior, Reggie, was a rescue cat from LP, 19 years ago. While he does not necessarily ask to visit his home turf, he's extremely well treated and recognized.LPAH used to have a photo gallery of their little pals, above the files. There would not be enough room now to have pics of all the cats and dogs they've helped, but the number of files should tell the tale, as do the testimonials here. We moved from the neighbourhood 7 years ago, and there are a number of closer vets or animal hospitals. But it's not about convenience, but care, and we're very happy with the care at Lawrence Park! Dr. Larry is AMAZING!!! He is very knowledgeable and able to explain our dog's condition in layman's terms so we can comprehend. He is very patient and compassionate and willing to answer all questions without feeling rushed. He has a great sense of humour which puts worried and neurotic parents as ease at the vet appointment. He is very professional and has a great bed side manner. He is a dog-lover and our dog gets lots of lovings from him, while she is there, which in our books gains our trust. We trust him with our dog as his approach is always "what would I do if it were my dog" . He usually takes a conservative approach, which we like because our dog is never over-vaccinated or over-medicated. Dr. Larry is our regular vet, but our dog has seen Dr. Kerry as a walk-in injury and she seems very nice as well. All the staff at Lawrence Park Animal Hospital, the RVTs and receptionists are super friendly and our dog seems to love them all. This animal hospital does courtesy phone calls and e-mails to follow up on our dog's illness or injury, to see how our dog is doing, which to us stands out from the other animal hospitals. If we ever moved out of the city, we would probably drive 5 hours to see Dr. Larry, we highly recommend Dr. Larry.Read Less

I lost my special guy a couple of months ago and before losing him, Dr. Larry, Dr. Kerry and the whole team went the extra mile coming into the clinic in the middle of the night and working through the weekend. They are a great bunch of people who cared for both my pet and I during a difficult time. I can't say enough about the positive experience I always have at Lawrence Park Animal Hospital. They show genuine care for my dog Stella and always manage to fit me in if there is an emergency. Dr Tait is the doctor that I usually see and she is very thorough and explains everything. I like that regardless of the reason that I bring my dog into them, they do a follow up call 2 or 3 days after to make sure everything is ok. When it came time to finding a vet for our new, very shy, dog, we were being very particular to say the least. After a falling out with our last vet when we had our first dog, three family friends gave the crew at Lawrence Park Animal Hospital a rave review.We have seen the ever gentle, Dr. Tate since day one with our puppy and she is wonderful! She knows exactly how to approach a very anxious dog and will adjust her demeanor to fit the dog's personality. Her team of assistants are all very kind and gentle with the animals and they do what they can do ease the stress of a vet appointment for both the animal and the owner.The clinic itself is wonderful. They try and book only one animal at a time for an appointment and if they know a pet owner needs their space (such as after losing their pet), they will do their best to ensure the office is empty both before and after that appointment. They are upfront about what they charge and I have never found that they charge for unnecessary procedures/tests. They are also flexible and will accommodate clauses/contracts the pet owner has with the person or organization where they got their pet. They do not push products on pet owners which is a nice change. All in all, I am very happy with the services my dog receives from this clinic and I  know that if I ever have a question or concern, they will be on the other end of the phone doing their best to help. I've been pleased with the care my pet receives at Lawrence Park Animal Hospital, however they have some customer servce issues to address with one of their Receptionists.I've been a client of Lawrence Park Animal Hospital for just over 1.5 years.  My dog has been examined by both Dr. Tait and Dr. White. Both doctors have been excellent with my dog and she has not been nervous or anxious at all. Once, when I discovered ticks on my dog and was very worried, I e-mailed LPAH and received a lenghty reply from one of the doctors who obviously took a lot of time and care to reply to me. Two thumbs up!The price I was quoted for a spay was too steep for me (+$800) and so I had the procedure done out of town at less than half the cost, however their prices for regular services and check-ups are reasonable and in-line with what a pet-owner should be prepared for.Their reception, however, needs a major improvement. "Dez" (who is listed on their website) is rude and his tone is condescending and arrogant. The management at LPAH should really reconsider who they have as a first-point-of-contact. I've had the unfortunate experience of calling a number of times when he's answered. Each time I've hung up angry and frustrated with his patronizing language and inflection. He also uses the term "No worries" which is a horrible customer service term to use. Any customer should never be a worry to someone whose job it is to help them! As a customer, I should never leave feeling like what I asked for (and purchased) was an imposition to the employee who is benefitting from my business.Anyway, other staff at LPAH have been a pleasure and I'm happy to continue going there.  My advice is to call with any questions in the morning so you can avoid speaking with "Dez." I thought maybe it was just a bad day for their staff.... second and third time same thing. For people that are representing a company... you should be nicer to people. While having coffee in the area I would ask people that had dogs with them about vets... 3 of 3 said don't go here! WOW! All I know is walking threw the door so far. I have 2 beautiful cats. Troy is a Bengal and Melissa my Savannah. I want to pick a fantastic vet. Friendly staff means a happy place. They have their teeth and everything else done once a year and I won't be taking them here. That is for sure. Whom ever owns this place... should have a chat with their staff when new people walk in! We've been taking our pets here as long as I can remember. We first found Lawrence Park Animal Hospital when I was about 3. My mom wanted a cat, and Dr Larry Wilder (Dr. Larry is the BEST) said a cat in their care had kittens. We got Simba. He had to have been one of the best cats ever. The summer after we got him, Simba attacked and ate a bee's nest. Dr Larry took us in, looked Simba over, and even gave us his own number in case anything happened in the night.Currently our dog has been having some medical problems and everyone at Lawrence Park Animal Hospital has been great. They've called to check on her, to see if the meds were working and when there was an emergency and we needed to book her in ASAP, they had an appointment ready. We've never felt pressured to run tests that weren't needed or medication that wouldn't help. Dr. Larry always takes it one step at a time (which for my anxiety is a huge help), trying the easiest/least expensive test first, before jumping to the worst case scenario. He told me not to worry until he told me to.I will always take my pets here. For a vet in the city, the pricing is great.Dr. Larry is my favourite vet there, probably because we've always gone to him. However, he's not always available. So we've had to have "emergency" appointments  with some of the other vets. They've all been exceptional!!! Read Less
