Parkdale Animal Hospital

Awful. Awful. Awful. While the front of house staff and Vet Techs seem nice, the Veterinarians Dr. Rosnick and Co are very cold. I took my dog in when she was in heat and was made to feel just awful about my dog bleeding on the floor. The doctor(Rosnick) seemed offended and disgusted. Fast forward to today - I called to make an appointment as my dog is quite sick and I'm very concerned, with the stipulation that my partner left the city with my wallet in the car and so could only pay them on Saturday - this after being a client of theirs since our dog was a puppy - not the most insane request, and certainly one would think that people in the business of compassion would be a bit more understanding. But no. Instead I was told 'We can't do that.' - over and over. No reason, no explanation, no accommodation after we have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars with them. Needless to say they have lost us as customers and I will be absolutely sure to steer any and all friends away from them. These people are in it for the money, not for your pet. Read Less

The Good: Clean, friendly, professional. The Bad: Incapable of handling dogs with any sort of demeanor, pill pushers, over prescribe medications. Overall: Avoid this place if your dog has a strong will. They are not experienced with handling dogs with character. Read Less

We have been visiting Gary, with our dog Dreyfuss, for almost 16 years now. The whole team seem to treat our pup as though he were a celebrity. Not surprisingly the vet, is one of his favorite places to go. Read Less

Can't say enough positive things about this vet clinic. I just recently moved to Toronto and had not found a vet for my Bichon mix yet. Unfortunately, he was not feeling well (it ended up being pancreatitis) and I took him into Parkdale Animal Hospital because it was nearby. And to be honest, I'm always apprehensive about having Benny in new situations (I.e. new vet or groomer) because some people underestimate his ability to "act out" because of his size. But the staff there were patient and kind with him (he is a rescue and has anxiety issues, especially with people touching around his head/neck area that he does not know) and they even sent me video and pictures of him during his stay (he needed to be there for 3 nights). Dr. Toprak would call me at least once a day to give me updates on how he was doing. And most importantly, he came back home as a healthy and happy dog! I know that no matter where you go - the vet bill is typically the most dreaded part, but it's much easier to let that money go when you know your dog has been treated well and no longer sick. I consider them to be fairly priced on top of everything else.Read Less

We have been taking our 2.5 year old boxer here since he was 8 weeks old. Dr.Toprak is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Our dog loves coming here and seeing her and the staff.They provide an estimate of costs prior to services like vaccination and tests so that we don't have a suprising bill. They provide honest estimates of the benefits of using their services and other options. We were very pleased with his neutering surgery done here by doctor Resnick. Read Less

We have been taking our cats to this hospital for over 20 years, and all the doctors and staff have always been very kind and helpful, being there for us through the ups and downs of our cats' lives. Oh - Pixie is tugging at my jacket. I think she wants to add that she appreciates how gentle Dr. Gary is with her, especially since hospitals scare her so much! Read Less

Staff were friendly and efficient and they were the first clinic where the staff had the patience to clip my dogs nails....not an easy feat! I was pleased with the professionalism and thoroughness of the appointment and the fee was comparable. Being new the area, finding a place Maggie was comfortable and a vet we could trust , was of the utmost importance. This will definitely be our regular clinic. Read Less

My son Kayra's dog Buddy visited his vet for the first time on Friday. We travelled on TTC to prolong this special day with Kayra and Buddy from North York to Parkdale Animal Hospital. Choosing a vet is important! He / She must be knowledgeable, compassionate and especially if the pet belongs to a child, there must be a connection between him / her and the vet as well. Dr. Toprak fulfilled all those requirements quite well! I like to thank Dr. Ebru Toprak and the staff again for their magic touch in taking the weight off of Kayra and Buddy's shoulders (Shots and needles!!!). My longtime (and first) companion animal had been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure by another vet. After two years, my pet's quality of life had significantly diminished, and it was time to make a difficult choice regarding euthanasia. As a friend of mine recently had to experience something similar, she recommended Parkdale and Dr Gary Rosnick. Their pricing was reasonable/market; but what made all the difference was the remarkable level of compassion and patience, of the staff and particularly Dr Rosnick. I have been taking my dog Katie to dr.rosnick for several years now.  We actually changed vets 4 or 5 years ago as I was not happy at the previous location. Katie is now 7 and normally we only have to visit the gang at Parkdale for her annual check up. Starting in march she was getting diarrhea every couple weeks and as quickly as it came on it cleared up. This went on for 3 months and we were doing various things to try and solve the problem. Dr. Rosnick was so helpful calling me at home to check in with us. Katie is very nervous and he takes the time with her to make her feel comfortable. We ended up changing her food about a month ago and since haven't had any abnormal stool (knock on wood!). Dr. Rosnick called again the other day to touch base, totally going the extra mile. I am so appreciative of the care he has given to Katie to get her well again. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, I highly recommend Parkdale animal hospital! Read Less

I have been taking my two cats to Parkdale Vets since 2005.  Both were orphaned kittens.  One had a viral infection and the other a parasite. They are both healthy now. Gary and the staff always take the time explain the problems, find a solution with medication, treatment etc.  Elaine is the nicest and kindest person, always going above and beyond.  My babies get treats after every annual visit. My cats Mig and Allie have been patients at Parkdale for 7 years or so now and I'm very pleased with the service Dr. Rosnick and his team provide.  Right from the front desk staff (Elaine is awesome!), thru the vet techs, and to the doctors, all are professional, caring and very knowledgable.   I found Parkdale when my new kitten Mig got into trouble eating an orchid, a very toxic plant to cats I've since learned.  Acute bloody diarrhea and vomiting ensued andme with my old vet having just moved out of Toronto.  What to do?  I called Parkdale  and got excellent phone advice from Elaine and a speedy appointment for my very sick kitten.  Mig was hospitalized, treated and got thru the whole episode with no serious consequences.  However, the thing that stands out in my mind today from that first visit  is how compassionate all the staff were.  I was a worried momma and they suggested I could come and visit my kitten each day of his hospitalization.  I got to see behind the scenes how much they cared about this little fella. Plus, how well this clinic is run.  I work in "human" health care and have volunteered at various animal shelters thru the years and have seen many well run and poorly run operations.  I've been privy to the best, the worst and tons of "middle of the road" health care experiences and I can honestly say Parkdale is well-above average on all fronts.  Experienced and versed front line staff, talented and kind vet techs,  compassionate and skilled doctors.  The place is clean and doesn't have that smell that many shelters and vet clinics have.  It's not the most flashy veterinary office in Roncie Village but what does that really matter.  It has a comfortable feel and the service is really all I care about.  My latest visit is a good example of how things run at Parkdale.  Mig has unluckily had bad teeth his whole life and we finally decided that he needed dental work done.  Cleaning and extractions were suggested when/if we wanted Mig to have it, no pressure, just suggested.  Elaine let us know that their are times during the year that Parkdale offers discounts on procedures so we booked Mig during one of these times.  We were given an estimate of the range this procedure would cost, upfront and when all was said and done, we came in just a little below the estimate.   Mig now has a beautiful, healthy mouth again (and better breath!) and we feel that we got good value for our bucks!  Plus, we got a free goodie bag of dental samples and food!!  The clinic even called to check in on Mig's progress at home, post op...a nice touch. I'd highly recommend Parkdale for your veterinary needs. Read Less

I have had the worst experiences at this vet due to Dr Ebru Toprak. She is rude and belligerent. She has a terrible attitude and always wants to run up your bill with hundreds of dollars worth of unnecessary tests. In my opinion vets should be more concerned with the health of your pet rather than making money off of them and unfortunately I believe she is out for the buck. Also, not treating your clients like incompetents would be a nice change. I have taken care of my cat for 18 years and he is old so, yes, he gets sick occasionally but that is no reason to talk to me like i am an idiot or not concerned about his well being when i don't want to hospitalize him for $870+ dollars for 2 days!On a visit to another vet I showed him the list of tests she had wanted to perform and he asked where she got her education? and told me that the only test that would have been necessary was a blood test. My opinion is Dr. Toprak needs to reevaluate why she became a vet in the first place and work on her people skills. Read Less

Wonderful staff and veterinarians! The vets, technicians and staff are so knowledgeable and courteous. I have had appointments with both Dr. Rosnick and Dr. Toprak and each vet took the time to explain the procedures my pets were receiving and why they were necessary. In addition, the receptionists were both very kind and helpful. (This was especially important when I was experiencing an unexpected and complicated medical issue that arose with two of my cats.) A big "thank you" to all of the members of this clinic who made our trip to the vet a much more pleasant experience. I'll definitely recommend you! Read Less

My girlfriend has been taking her cats here for a couple years.  Since I was new to the city and in need of a vet for my dog, Sadie, I naturally took her to Parkdale Animal Hospital.They're a small outfit, very clean, with friendly receptionists who genuinely love animals.  While it is ostensibly owned and operated by Dr Gary Rosnick, I've yet to meet him -- my visits have been with Dr. Ebru Toprak, a relatively new vet (grad in 2007, her bio states) who has been great thus far.  She handled "Dude", Heather's horrified-to-ever-go-to-a-vet-attack-cat with aplomb... I won't go into details, but he does both disgusting and violent things at the vet (any vet), and Dr. Toprak just soldiered on without complaint.As for my Sadie, they're great with her and she with them -- she gets very excited if we're even nearby, and insists on pulling for a visit.  That's always a good sign! I will note that, as with most (all?) vets, you're probably better off purchasing your basics -- such as flea control -- elsewhere, as their prices are at a premium.  The rest of their services are very reasonably priced, however, and it seems pretty clear they're one of those vets whose first concern is animal well-being rather than profit.  All in all, recommended, and I've no concerns pushing me to find another animal hospital!
