Please avoid this place!!!! My dog almost died in their care from a completely treatable parasitic infection. I brought my dog in with a brutal parasite. Initially it started well - they allowed me to come in after hours which was very kind, as my dog hadn’t even been able to keep water down in almost 24 hours and I couldn’t get her in anywhere in the city. That night we did an IV and a blood test, and the vet sent me on my way. I came in the following day with a ziploc bag with poo in it for a fecal test, and they started my dog immediately on a round of antibiotics while waiting for tests to come back. A few days later they called and said they saw nothing in her results, she was fine, and the antibiotics would work. Fast forward three weeks, 3 different rounds of unsuccessful medication later, and my dog was terrifyingly close to death. They actually scheduled “exploratory surgery” to rule out an obstruction after the sonographic scans showed nothing in week three. As the vet and I are talking about surgery and I’m in full panic, I ask the vet to reconfirm that the fecal sample was normal. To which he replied - “we never got a fecal sample from you.” Now this is absurd and irresponsible for a few reasons. Not only do I vividly remember bringing in a ziploc bag of poo (because who forgets that?) that they clearly lost and never tested, but more importantly, if their records showed never having done one, and they believed I never brought one in, they might have requested one from me somewhere along this 3 week long journey. Had they done their due diligence, they would have at the very least requested one before recommending exploratory surgery. Or after the first or even second round of unsuccessful antibiotics. My dog wasn’t eating or drinking and was too weak to walk, she was two years old. These vets never even looked over the file to double check that they had followed the appropriate steps before throwing more medications and expensive tests at me. In those 3 weeks my dog lost 20% of her body weight and the various tests they ran cost me upwards of $3,000. Had they tested the fecal sample on the second visit as they should have (or requested another one on any of my next 5 visits), my dog would have been cured in a week and I would have saved thousands of dollars. Of course, the fecal sample showed a rare parasite, we treated it, and she was back to her normal self 5 days later. Had I not done MY due diligence to explicitly ask again about the fecal sample, they would have performed extremely invasive and expensive surgery on my dog for absolutely no reason. It’s appalling. I never got an apology and they absolved themselves of all blame. Took zero responsibility. Don’t be swayed by the positive reviews as I was, while the staff may be friendly, the clinic is shady, dishonest, and greedy. They are careless with their veterinary care and don’t accept responsibility when they make mistakes. Nor do they offer any financial recourse. In fact, they insisted I pay for the last $1000 (completely unnecessary) test before leaving their office when I discovered their misstep. Please, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. My cat Yogi died under Dr. Badri's careOn Saturday, July 20th 2013 at 10:00, I arrived at the Animal Vaccination Services clinic located at 2432 Eglinton Avenue East (416-752-8511) with my cat Yogi and my friend. The reason for our visit was for Yogi to get his rabies vaccine and consultation for his occasional aggressive behaviour. The vet on duty that day referred us to Dr. Ahmed Badri at the Toronto Central Animal Clinic, 167 Parliament st, Toronto, Ontario for the check-up.   We arrived at Toronto Central Animal clinic around 11:30. I explained that Yogi needed sedation before getting his vaccines and I wanted a treatment for his temper, possibly a natural sedative I could give him at home.    I specifically said not to add other services without my consent at least on three occasions. I asked if we could come in the examination room with Yogi.  The assistant said no because it would interfere with their work.  She said to ignore any screams or meowing coming from the exam room.  Moments later, we heard a very loud scream coming from the exam room.  I recognized Yogi's voice.    I knew something was wrong. When assistant came out with Yogi and the invoice, there was a urine test for $50 which I never authorized.  I didn't want to argue, so I paid up the invoice reluctantly.  When I got home, I noticed a huge red lump on his groin and he was crying and licking that area.  I called the clinic to advise them on Monday morning.  The assistant told me the vet would get back to me.  He never did.  I kept calling and finally reached him on Thursday.  He said there was some resistance when he removed the catheter and all he needed was some anti inflammatory drugs.  By the time he delivered the drugs on Friday, Yogi was bleeding and could barely walk.  I asked Dr. Badri to look at Yogi.  He took him for observation.  He called me back on Sunday to tell me there has been damage to the groin from licking and that the only way to save him was to perform a surgery to remove his penis to make him like a female cat so the urine could pass.  He said the surgery was going to cost $2000 and I was to help cover the cost.  I told him that under no circumstance I was going to pay for this as I told him I didn't have that kind of money in the beginning.  He then told me he was going to proceed with the surgery.  One hour later he called me back to say Yogi had passed away during surgery. I filed a complaint to the Ontario College of Veterinarians.  It took three years to investigate.  He was found guilty of professional misconduct and had his licence suspended for one month. I'm very sad and angry to hear that after all this, Dr. Badri is still practising and killing other pets.  This is outrageous!  I encourage everyone who has been victimised by Dr. Badri to file a complaint to the college of veterinarians of Ontario and even the media. I had been going to this vet Dr. Badgery since 2008 when I brought my two males in to get nurtured and they came home sooooo heavily sedated.... I had never seen a cat so drugged up in my life. I stupidly kept going back there as they were close to my work, up until last year, when my baby was sick, little jack a beautiful white and black cat. He was not doing well and I had thought it was a Uti again but it turned out to be heart failure... At 8 years of age?!... While I was at work I had my friend bring him into the vet around 10am. They left him in a cage neglected, untreated, dehydrated and in very bad shape because I didn't get a call until 6-6:30 that he wasn't going to make it. I jumped in a taxi cab and by the time I got there he was lying there dead. They did nothing but over charge me for basic procedures. They wouldn't sell me advantage for the cats without seeing all 3.... A bill of over $300..... And it was the fleas they had caught, that lead to all 3 of them getting cat scratch disease and killing two out of 3. If the doctors weren't neglectful and misinformed, if they weren't heartless greedy monsters.... Maybe my baby would be alive today. I wouldn't even give them one star but I had no choice. The last problem that we had with our cat, we were afraid he wasn't going to make it. Dr Badri performed a very tricky surgery on him that even came with surprises and he saved his life! Brought in my dog who wasn't eating and was very impressed by the service I received (it was a Sunday so they were the only place open in the area). Don't remember the doctor's name, but she was great. Later that day we were up all night with a dog who was vomiting blood, pretty scary, so we went back to the clinic first thing Monday. This time and from that point on I was dealing with Dr. Badri and do not wish to do so ever again. He was very unclear in his explanations, cut us off when we attempted to ask questions, didn't listen to anything we had to say about our dog's usual habits, and mentioned multiple times (without adding any reason or thought process) that "ya know, we'll probably have to cut him open." I paid a deposit and received an estimate for blood work, a set of xrays, overnight hospitalization, IV fluids, and antibiotics. I also signed a paper stating that if any other procedures needed to be done that I be called in advance. While the clinic had my dog overnight Dr. Badri performed at least two more sets of xrays before the bloodwork even came back (no explanation as to why and I was NOT called beforehand). The bloodwork came back to reveal that my dog had a bacterial infection, so I was told he needed about a week's worth of antibiotics. No problem. Also no need for the doc to mention *again* that he might have to "cut him open." When I did pick up my dog later that afternoon I was handed a bill for around $600 more than my estimate. When I inquired as to the difference I was told I was paying for all of the xrays... Not a chance considering I specifically signed to be called before any additional procedures. To that I got a pretty snarky "Well we were just trying to save your dog's life... If you don't want to pay for it, I'll take it off." Not my point, I have no problem paying for procedures that were vital/deemed necessary/effective, but why have a contract with a "please call me first" option if you are just going to do whatever you want? Totally unprofessional in terms of doing business as well as in the way I was spoken to. No idea why Dr. Badri was so obsessed with performing surgery with no apparent reason, but I'm guessing he gets people to agree to that cost not knowing better. That first female doctor was great, I would be willing to find out when she works and only go back then. Otherwise, go elsewhere! Read Less

My cat had a bath at this clinic. The bath was good. The annoying thing was, they kept asking me to leave the room for at least 12 times during the bath. I just wanted to stay with my cat for the whole process. What's wrong with that??? My cat is at strangers' hands. I want to make sure she won't get mistreated. It almost like they have something to hide, or something they didn't want me to see or know. Before the bath, I told the staff I just want a bath for my cat. And I checked the box "do not do anything else". But during the bath, the staff asked me to sign a new paper says they can sedate the cat WITHOUT authorization. What I can say is, since they are really uncomfortable with people monitor them step by step. When you bring your precious pet to them, do monitor step by step. Read Less

Brought my dog in who was bleeding from presumably broken glass (they were the nearest clinic). Given I spent years working in a vet clinic uptown and currently bandage up people for a living, I preferred to buy the materials from them rather than pay $70 plus tax to have her looked at when I could clean and treat at home. I made this decision after meeting two of the DVMs who clearly couldn't care less about the dog (no hello or goodbye for that matter). After I paid for the bandaging, they made it clear I better be quick about wrapping her up "because we have appointments coming in." The place was deserted. She's an injured dog and they would have preferred she walk home on an open wound if they weren't being paid to treat her. Gave two stars because I appreciated being able to purchase the materials, but otherwise couldn't get out fast enough. Read Less

Amazing team here. I've been to a few vets in the area and this place is by far the best. Dr Azad and Dr Badri are amazing surgeons and vets. They genuinely care about your pets. The rest of the team is wonderful too. They have saved my cat multiple times from complicated problems and I am forever grateful. The last problem that we had with our cat, we were afraid he wasn't going to make it. Dr Badri performed a very tricky surgery on him that even came with surprises and he saved his life! His care and skills really are amazing. Our little guy is doing better then ever now. I highly recommend this clinic. Read Less

Read Less
