Please avoid this place!!!!
My dog almost died in their care from a completely treatable parasitic infection.
I brought my dog in with a brutal parasite. Initially it started well - they allowed me to come in after hours which was very kind, as my dog hadn’t even been able to keep water down in almost 24 hours and I couldn’t get her in anywhere in the city. That night we did an IV and a blood test, and the vet sent me on my way. I came in the following day with a ziploc bag with poo in it for a fecal test, and they started my dog immediately on a round of antibiotics while waiting for tests to come back. A few days later they called and said they saw nothing in her results, she was fine, and the antibiotics would work. Fast forward three weeks, 3 different rounds of unsuccessful medication later, and my dog was terrifyingly close to death. They actually scheduled “exploratory surgery” to rule out an obstruction after the sonographic scans showed nothing in week three. As the vet and I are talking about surgery and I’m in full panic, I ask the vet to reconfirm that the fecal sample was normal. To which he replied - “we never got a fecal sample from you.”
Now this is absurd and irresponsible for a few reasons.
Not only do I vividly remember bringing in a ziploc bag of poo (because who forgets that?) that they clearly lost and never tested, but more importantly, if their records showed never having done one, and they believed I never brought one in, they might have requested one from me somewhere along this 3 week long journey. Had they done their due diligence, they would have at the very least requested one before recommending exploratory surgery. Or after the first or even second round of unsuccessful antibiotics. My dog wasn’t eating or drinking and was too weak to walk, she was two years old. These vets never even looked over the file to double check that they had followed the appropriate steps before throwing more medications and expensive tests at me. In those 3 weeks my dog lost 20% of her body weight and the various tests they ran cost me upwards of $3,000. Had they tested the fecal sample on the second visit as they should have (or requested another one on any of my next 5 visits), my dog would have been cured in a week and I would have saved thousands of dollars.
Of course, the fecal sample showed a rare parasite, we treated it, and she was back to her normal self 5 days later.
Had I not done MY due diligence to explicitly ask again about the fecal sample, they would have performed extremely invasive and expensive surgery on my dog for absolutely no reason.
It’s appalling.
I never got an apology and they absolved themselves of all blame. Took zero responsibility. Don’t be swayed by the positive reviews as I was, while the staff may be friendly, the clinic is shady, dishonest, and greedy.
They are careless with their veterinary care and don’t accept responsibility when they make mistakes. Nor do they offer any financial recourse. In fact, they insisted I pay for the last $1000 (completely unnecessary) test before leaving their office when I discovered their misstep.
