I have been going to Trinity Mews for 28 years with my several guniea pigs and my hedgehog.  This is a WONDERFUL veterinary practice.  Simple straightforward and excellent healthcare for animals and helfpful and reassurance for their families.  You don't pay for a fancy waiting room, marketing gimmicks, high overhead or extra costs, just first rate animal care.  Dr, Purtill is a very sensible, highly experienced vet who never treats unecessarily, but always does what is best whether it is an agressive or conservative approach.  He is very holistic in his approach, and understands animals very well as do his very fine assistants Mark and Marylin.  I have been to other vets who are good, but this is the best clinic, and you always feel like you have superb value for the money you spend.  I completely trust in them and have never felt anyhign but grateful since I started going there in 1988.  This clinic gets my strongest recommendation. This has been my vet for six years now.  Having shopped around at different downtown Toronto vet clinics to check how Trinity's prices compare, I can say the prices are relatively similar.  Yes, Trinity may be a little on the higher end, but certainly not at the top.  In regards to service, I think our vet is better with cats than dogs.  His calm disposition seems to put my cat at ease even when Pups is panicky.  My dog, on the other hand, is a drama queen and would likely do better with a more no nonsense approach.  Regardless, as far as both animals are concerned, my vet takes their health seriously. This is my first dog, so like a new parent, I fretted over him a lot when he was a puppy.  One time, I left a frantic message around 9:30 pm on a Sunday hoping to get an early appointment for some perceived Eli emergency.  Not ten minutes later, I got a phone call from the vet who listened to my description and coached me through what to do.  Trinity isn't open on Sundays, so by no means was he under any obligation to call me.  But I was so glad he did. It's not a fancy clinic, and it doesn't have the longest hours.  It's no longer even the closest vet to me anymore.  I go back there because I trust the advice that my vet gives me, and with all the hot spots, eye infections, and seizure-like sneezing fits that my dog seems prone to, I've had a chance to test that statement again and again. And yes, Mark is awesome. Read Less

My dog was a patient here until we recently moved to the States.  I was never all that pleased with the service or prices, but since this was our first dog and Trinity Mews our first vet in Toronto, I had no real point of comparison. Now that I have a good vet, I can confidently say this place sucks. First off, it is WAY expensive.  My dog suffers from frequent hot spots (which are now being cleared up by my new vet with the help of hypo-allergenic food) and what I pay now for a visit AND topical medicine ($80) would have cost me between $120 and $150 previously.  Being a completely new dog owner who really loves my pooch I was also a sucker to buy all the extras the vet suggested I should get.  I would often spend $300 plus when visiting for routine shots or check ups.The vet himself was fine in terms of "bedside manner" but nothing to write home about. But what pushed me to write this completely negative review is the HORRIBLE customer service we have been getting since we left.  It has been a now month long struggle to get them to forward our records to our new insurance company.  We have made 4 phone calls to them personally in addition to the phone calls our insurance company has made trying to get them to send over the files.  Surprisingly, they charge $35 for this service and we gave them credit card information 2 weeks ago, but when we called today to follow up because the insurance people had STILL not received the paperwork, they told us they don't accept Amex.  After the approx. $2,000 that we spent there in the 1.5 years our dog was a patient, the fact that they don't have the courtesy to do this one small task (seriously to fax over some freaking paperwork) is UNACCEPTABLE.The only good thing about this place was Mark, one of the assistants.  He was the only genuinely nice and friendly person that I dealt with.  And he legitimately cared about my dog.Bring your money elsewhere, there have got to be far better vet clinics in TO.
