Great clinic! The staff is always so friendly and informative. We always see Dr. Birss, she is great with the animals. She gets on the floor to play with them and is always putting the animal first. They are on the pricier side but as far as I’m concerned it’s worth the level of care they provide. And in my honest opinion, they care about the animals well being before the money. Read Less

Friendly, professional help. Pricey. I am slightly confused. Yesterday I was in with my dog for her annual checkup. It felt as if I was being assaulted by pushy salespeople. It could be just me, it seemed as though Clara's health and well-being were of secondary concern to selling additional stuff to me. For over 20 years Baker Animal Clinic have taken care of all of my fur babies. The receptionists are always welcoming when we arrive and greet my babies with love. They call after the visit to see how they are doing. After their passing, the compassion they have shown is immeasurable. When I returned with a new puppy, they gave me a hug a told me it was nice to see me again. Baker animal clinic is amazing!!! They've always taken such good care of my cats. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the vet techs are thorough and loving to my pets. The vet I saw recently has taken the time to call me, and speak with me for a few mins when I went to pick up a medication, as well as being extremely kind, knowledgeable and genuinely caring for my cat. I have taken my dogs to Dr. Dave Sutherland since they were puppies one for 11 yrs. & my new little one for just over 1 yr. Dave has always been wonderful in the way he takes care of them. He listens to everything you have to say, never rushes you and explains everything so that you understand. You can see how much he loves the animals. The techs and all the girls at the reception desk are so friendly, helpful, and do anything they can to make you and your animal feel right at home. I would never go anywhere else. Dr. Nelson & Dr. Birss have been caring for my Boxer Stella and Boston/Frenchie Hank since we relocated to the Oshawa area. Everyone at the clinic is extremely friendly and caring...from the receptionists, vet techs and the doctors. We are surrounded by animal lovers when we walk in the door. Have been going to Baker's for over 6 years now and they are fantastic! All of the vet techs and vets are compassionate and do great work. We had to visit a lot with our dog and they were always so calm and reassuring. When he passed away they called right away to check in and send their condolences. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!! They are completely clueless and will wayyyy overcharge you. The first time I brought my new puppy there the vet let him jump off the exam table while I wasn't even in the room. Then she proceeded to charge me $50 for pain pills because he hurt his foot in the process. I let that one slide, but I have had to go back a handful of other times for pup issues, and it has only gotten worse. On another occasion a different vet told me to feed my dogs natural treats like grapes!!! So I had to inform him grapes will kill dogs and cause kidney failure. How can a proper vet not know this? And how many other people has he told that to? I have yet to meet a competant vet at this poor excuse for a clinic. Well the last and final time I went to Baker, I called over and told them my dog scraped his foot outside and asked what to do. They told me to pop him by so they could just take a look at it. When I got him there, the vet came out and looked at his paw and told me it was fine and there was nothing they could do. I said thanks and went to leave, until the receptionist called me back to pay my $110 bill !!!!! That was the final straw. Absolutely disgusted with this vet office and do not recommend it to anyone. They will nickel and dime you to death, are obviously uneducated, and I would never trust them with any of my animals again. I would put zero stars but it won't let me. Read Less

When we got our first cat, I did a lot of research on vets in the area so that we could choose the best one for our first cat, Buster. Baker Animal clinic had a good reputation so we ended up choosing it, as it was well located.Every time I've walked into Baker, the receptionists are so super friendly. They're always interested in seeing your pet and every time I brought Buster in, the receptionists remembered him (one in particular who loves cats was always so wonderful with him when we brought him in, and she's wonderful with our current cat, Kitten). I've seen multiple doctors here and they all have a wonderful manner with my cats.Unfortunately, Buster was diagnosed with a fatal disease, but Baker did everything they could to help us through it and provide us with options for treatment to make Buster's remaining time more comfortable. We had an unfortunately awful experience when we put Buster down, but I've tried to look past that and look at the vet clinic as a whole, and not just on that one experience.Our current cat, Kitten, has been for all of her shots and checkups and was fixed in the spring. She didn't have any issues with healing and they did a very good job stitching her up (my family's old cat ended up with a low-hanging pooch because of a poorly done job when fixing her, so I'm pleased that Kitten does not have this). They also were able to use stitches that were inside and the used cauterizing techniques to minimize discomfort and promote healing. They've always been willing to answer any questions we may have, no matter how small or strange they may be. And they always have my pet in mind when recommending things. I really feel like the clinic cares about the well being of my pets, just as much as I do.I've been very happy with Baker Animal Clinic and we will continue to bring our pets to this location. After moving to *gasp* Whitby, we had a full list of places to source. A good vet is definitely on the list. So I let my Googlin' skills run wild.Seriously, I don't understand businesses without websites. That being said, I don't understand businesses that don't have decent websites. I immediately crossed off any vets that didn't have a website (gosh so mid 90s) and focused on vets that have the following:- multiple vets- on-site lab- on-site surgical facilities- on-site boarding/kennelBaker Animal Clinic had all of the above and also a handy online services and forms for clients such as booking requests and refill on prescription requests.Everything from booking the appointment to the reception to the vet tech assistant to the vet was a great experience. They were nice, knowledgeable, asked really good questions and blew all our expectations. They are the best vet clinic we've ever been to (and we've been to a lot). I won't get into the nitty gritty (umm my dog's anal expression is way way way TMI) details but there are things that Baker Animal Clinic did that other vets didn't do and get this - COMPLIMENTARY as in FREE.A few days after the appointment, we got a phone call from the clinic asking if we had any concerns or questions and that we shouldn't hesitate to call if we did.Great great greatBonus tip: The town of Whitby lets you purchase your dog license at the vet.
