Horrible experience. The worst ever. The veterinarian put my cat in a leather device where she couldn’t move for absolutely no reason. Luckily I went into the back to check on her and they stopped torturing her right away. Toward the end of June this summer (2018) our elderly Yorkie, Willie was terminal with congestive heart failure and a growing tumour. We brought him to our cottage at Hope Bay where we summer. Willie adored the cottage. He had a couple of weeks there, soaking up the sun, making a slow motion chase after the chipmunk who walked rather than running across the deck. Then Willie had a crisis of very rapid breathing, weakness, and despite us not being regular clients we were given an appointment at the end of the day. We came knowing that euthanasia was what Willie needed. Our hearts were breaking. Dr. Lefebre took the time to review Willie’s recent history, treatment and medications with us. He reassured us that we had indeed done everything for Willie that could be done. He supported our sad decision. He and the staff were compassionate with us both when we ended Willie’s life, and also later when WAH sent us a sympathy card with Willie’s paw print on the front signed by all the staff that was so caring that we were in tears all over again at that kindness. We were strangers, but treated as if we were old and valued clients by everyone at WAH. We could not have asked for more thorough and compassionate care for both Willie and us. Dr. Lefebvre and his amazing team all deserve 5 stars! I called this past Tuesday morning (morning after a very hot long weekend) with concern for my 11 month old Golden. I assumed they were really busy and they were but I was told to come around 10 am and they would see Harvey. They were beyond busy but everyone there were definitely calm and welcoming and never showed any sign of being overwhelmed with the number of 4 legged friends in to see them. We moved to the area about a yr ago and have 3 kitties .The staff is amazing and when one of my kitties passed away unexpectedly they helped me find a new kitten when I was ready ..They call you to follow up on appointments and how the cats are doing . I had the unfortunate decision to put my best friend down while vacationing on the Bruce Peninsula.  I found myself at the Wiarton Veterinary Hospital.  I wish we had never crossed paths, however I am glad it was them I ended up with.  Very compassionate people.  I even received a card in the mail from them a week later. Wonderful vet and equally wonderful staff. Facility was clean and inviting. We took in a young lop bunny with an inner ear infection, vet came in to see him and successfully treated him.
