Market Lane Animal Hospital has been our vet in our family since I was a teenager (over 20 years) and we got our first dog. My parents continued to go to MLAH for the lifetime of their 2 dogs, Oscar and Winnie. I moved out, went to another vet with my dogs because they were closer to home, and always complained that the vets I used were never as understanding and willing to work with me like MLAH. When I moved back to Woodbridge, I immediately went to MLAH because my parents trusted them, and I had heard they were still great. The staff there are always friendly, know my face and name, know my dogs names, and pay attention to what I want. They are some of the few vets I've met that actually work with you, instead of telling you what you have to do, and that's that. If I have researched a treatment, or have an opinion about vaccination schedules, they listen and work with me, and respect my decisions as a pet owner. They always inform me of my options, so I can make an educated decision that is the best choice for my pet, as well as our wallets! Vets can be expensive, they all are, it's something you have to be prepared for as a pet owner.I had a dog Axel with a chronic problem that required a lot of care. Axel was slowly dying of a progressive disease of his lungs, and I know that Dr. Gayed and his team were the reason we got to have as many years with Axel as we did. Axel's prognosis from a specialist was that he would die within 12-18 months, I believe that it's the staff at MLAH that made it possible for us to have Axel in our lives, as a happy and functioning dog, for 23 months, before he made a sudden downturn and we had to make the heart-breaking decision to end his suffering.Dr. Gayed tirelessly tried new treatments until we found one that really seemed to work for the last year of Axel's life. Dr. Gayed knew that coming in to see him at least once a month with repeated infections in Axel's lungs, or difficulty breathing, was wearing on us financially, and he always worked with us to figure out what we could afford, what was available, and what treatments we were willing to try. I never felt that I was being ripped off for unnecessary tests or charges. Often times they seemed quite apologetic when a test was quite expensive. When Dr. Gayed was stumped on a treatment option, because Axel's condition was so specialized, he admitted it, and would tell me that he would call people with more expertise to consult with them - he called many specialized treatment centres on my behalf. He would always follow through as soon as possible. MLAH made follow-up calls to every treatment we tried with Axel, they would make wellness calls just to make sure he was doing ok. Our other dog, Hope, had her back go out to the point of full paralysis of her back end. Instead of suggesting surgery immediately, or euthanizing an otherwise healthy pet, Dr. Gayed worked with me to figure out a plan for conservative treatment with steroids because there had been a lot of success in that, if I was willing to put the work in. He was aware that I'd done my research, and it was a much less invasive process, as well as affordable for us ($30 for pills, vs $6000 for surgery). After 8 weeks, and very little cost to us (steroids are cheap), Hope made a full recovery and is now walking normally, as if nothing had every happened. We are soon getting a puppy as a companion for Hope, and I have absolute trust that the new puppy will be treated just as well as Axel and Hope have been, and that he will have as healthy a life as possible under their care.My husband and I have always appreciated the respect we get when we walk into MLAH, the compassion, the smiles and the support. I have never felt bullied, pushed or humiliated, which, yes, I have felt under the care of other vets.Thank you. Read Less
