Hôpital Vétérinaire Taschereau

Yesterday we brought in our rabbit Timmy to get neutered, it was such a stressful day for us as we had lost our dear Marshmallow a few months before to a spay surgery, the team at the "Hôpital Vétérinaire Taschereau" were absolutely get and reassuring that everything would be great, and it was! We could not ask for a better day of both us and our little guy. A big thank you to Claudette for all the help and looking after our little guy and to of course to the wonderful doctor who performed the surgery. I have been going to see Dr. Allen for years. I have vetted over 30 cats there. I rescue cats. Dr. Aben, Dr. Felix and Dr. Roy are great as well. It's a long wait but my animals always got good care. I always go at night and the staff is great. Read Less

Great Veterinarian Hospital . Thank you so much Dr .Richard Allan and your team to save our little dog life. We came on Monday and by Tuesday Morning surgery was already done. Will hope now and pray she will recover fast, without any problems. Very professional team . Very well organized. Even you need to wait a few hours, but beleive me its worth it !!!! Someone I know brought their cat there to be sterilized. A few days later, the poor animal passed away. While inserting the breathing tube into the animal's throat prior to the surgery, the veterinarian accidentally perforated the trachea. The poor cat ended up dying after several days of horrible suffering. While mistakes can and do happen, for an operation this common, this kind of blunder shouldn't have to be expected from experienced professionals. But it seems like tragedies like this one aren't uncommon in this establishment. Maybe it's time to get this place formally inspected by officials. And until it is, I'd like to suggest animal owners to stay well away from this clinic. Read Less

I have been sitting in this clinic for 2 hours now because the secretary with dark hair and braids has no customer service skills.  She claims she called 31 when she was calling 33 and decided that because we didn't hear her we would wait and be put to number 34, totally useless ignorant b.... do not expect friendly service and they have no manners, same terrible service every time we come here! Absolutely the worst animal hospital around.  Rude and incompetent staff, I was yelled at by a crazy secretary because I questioned the legitimacy of the "services" offered.  She threatened to keep my cat if I didn't pay, I told her to bill me, but give me my cat or I'd call the police.  THEN she got my cat, who they claimed had a contagious disease, so they couldn't operate.  As I prepared my cat in her travel bag, I was aggressively told my file was permanently closed and that I was no longer allowed on the premises ("sur les lieux").  I chuckled and said "thanks", so she yelled to the entire waiting room, "Don't go near him! His cat has an infectious disease!!".  First, had there been a disease, my indoor cat would have contracted it at this clinic, considering she's never been in contact with another cat. Second, I just got back from a REAL vet who said she had a tooth infection and nothing more.  How did the Taschereau staff miss that?  After 30 years, I'm done with these clowns. Read Less

Terrible place lost 2 of my dogs files and I was going there with them from day 1 my dogs where fixed there I need proof and they tell me oh well nothing I can do we didn't have a computer then and lost the files. so unorganized.... Read Less

This is not a place to bring your animals. This so called vet does not perform any procedure properly - ever. Wake up people! Why do you think he's so damn cheap?! Yeah you dont wanna pay really expensive prices, but 1) there is pet insurance and 2) there are some vets who are reasonably priced and will do all procedures properly!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE IF YOU ACTUALLY CARE FOR YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER! Read Less

For the clinic I would give zero stars if I could but for Dr. Allen I would give 5 stars. Here are my complaints: I have been a going to this clinic since I was born with my family and have always loved Dr. Richard Allen. This letter is not against him but against his two day time receptionists and one of veterinarians. Every time I have been there the receptionists are complaining about clients in front of everyone, they are talking about their day, week, and weekend or surfing the internet instead of picking up the phones or calling numbers. When you walk in you take a number to establish an order of first come first serve then they put your file in so that you can see the veterinarian but they make you wait and do anything and everything else before calling your number. When you are there just to see the technician they don€t even tell them that you are there. Every time I went I heard them/saw them telling the technician that I was there once. So I was waiting as long as if I would have wanted to see the veterinarian. One Vet, Dr. Boulet, even made a decision in my file without ever meeting me or my dog, without the complete file and medical history. All this based on the receptionists opinion. Read Less

They didnt do a proper operation on my dog and they refuse to even take a look at him without for free when its thier fault it's nothing but a slum dirty place they smoke inside where they kept my dog in a spare cage I noticed the ashes on the ground as soon as i steeped foot in the place if you truly love your animal do not bring him to this place!!! No appointment vet clinic and emergency 24/h. Must grab a number and wait to be called to give information. It has narrow hallways and old friendly facade. The waiting room is very clean but no water available for dogs. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Would return again. Read Less

Terrible service with rude people on the counter. Took my dog since he had intense diarrhea and they said keep him for the day so he poops here and we will test the stool. I told them he will not do it in the cage they should take him outside and they did not then called me at 9pm to pick him up and they did not take him out obviously. Nothing was done and was charged 40$ for the stay. As soon as i took him out he pooped at the door. So i picked it up and gave it to them then they decided to do their job and test it. Turned out he had worms so had to give him anti-biotics. All in all was a bad experience and would never go there again. Read Less

My first visit to the Taschereau Veterinary Hospital was in 1982 when my situation changed drastically and I had to find homes for my two beloved cats and I found an organization that guaranteed good homes to cats they accepted. They also provided an examination and vaccinations and told me to take both cats to Dr. Allen at the Taschereau Veterinary Hospital which I did. They explained that Dr. Allen provided free service for the animals Meiouf sent to him. It was a godsend for me and my cats, Midnight and Cheyenne and I was grateful to this unusual veterinarian who clearly was going above and beyond the call of duty. Over the years, when I need care for my cats, I have always returned to Dr. Allan, even though I have lived in locations far away sometimes with more than an hour travel time. I can always count on efficient loving care for my pet(s) and reasonable costs as well. My newest cat, Solly, a delightful, fearless, curious and personable golden, outdoor cat was brought to me when he was not yet full grown, by a friend of mine in Laval who couldn't keep him because she already had 3 cats.  He quickly became a great companion to my older cat, Zara. Solly found a spool of thread one day when I was at work and he turned out to have an appetite for thread, unfortunately. He became terribly ill. I called Dr Allen who told me that thread can cause severe damage to a cat's internal organs as the thread acts like a knife inside the digestive system. When I asked how much it would cost (being on a very strict budget) he didn't answer at first, so I asked if it would be more than $100 or $200 and then he simply said "yes, it would" and he told me to bring him in fast. Solly's liver was in tatters when Dr. Allen's team operated and they worked on him for hours to mend the destroyed liver.  When I picked him up the next day Solly had survived and was awake.  Dr Allen didn't tell me what the real value of that surgery was but the vet who I saw when I picked him up the next day told me that the surgeon had thought it was not likely Solly would survive the damage and the complicated repair job but worked for hours to sew everything back together to try to save him anyway. Everyone was amazed that Solly had survived. She let me know that the price I was charged (I don't remember exactly the amount but it was between $250 and $350, not more than that anyway) which was only a fraction of the real cost - which was in the thousands. That vet who gave Solly back to me told me she had her own clinic and was moonlighting at Dr. Allen's and she said she'd never be able to afford to charge such a low price for such a huge job at her clinic, and was shocked at the low price Dr Allen asked of me. I was a long time client and he knew my financial situation was very tight as I'd just recently recovered from breast cancer. It takes a very big-hearted person to be able choose to behave this way.Sometimes there's a bit of a wait in the first-come first-served clinic - but never as long as I've had to wait to be seen in Emergency at any of the Montreal area hospitals for people. This clinic deals with everyone who shows up with a pet in need during the hours the clinic is open, and the price is always fair and the treatment appropriate, without padded fees or unnecessary expensive additions. It's the fairest and most dependable Veterinary service I've ever encountered anywhere - and as long as I live within 200 miles of Dr. Allen's clinic I will always return there when my pets need care. Thank you Dr. Allen for your unusual and unique way of running your animal hospital!To the previous reviewer, Carolyn - I have to say: Carolyn! Have you noticed how full the waiting room always is at that Clinic? Have you noticed that there's no other clinic anywhere (that I've ever heard of) that accepts everyone who walks in the door and without having to make an appointment in advance? Did it occur to you that Dr. Allen is a very very busy person and as with most doctors is always in demand - and often, exhausted?  His clinic just might be the most unusual Pet Hospital on the planet. Please don't take it personally that he doesn't have time for small talk and just be thankful he exists. You probably would never have met that nice vet you can get along with if Dr Allan's animal hospital didn't exist. It's all because of him! ...and you are benefiting! Read Less
