I highly recommend Pierrefonds Animal Hospital. They were absolutely fantastic with our German shepherd, Tango. Tango had many issues over the course of his life and they were always great with him. Dr. Erdmann is without a doubt, an excellent vet. Always took the time to answer our questions; we never felt rushed with her. She even took time out of her schedule to see us when my husband and I just dropped in without an appointment to discuss Tango’s medical issues and the different options we had. She also always promptly returned phone calls. And when it came time to put Tango down, the entire staff was great with us. Very positive experience. Everyone who works here is kind and compassionate. I walked in without an appointment and was seen within five minutes. I’ve been here a few times due to the fact that my usual vet’s office was closed when I needed him. Even received a follow up call to see how my dog was doing which is something I’m not used to. This is the first review I have ever left and the only reason I am writing is because I came to this place based on the reviews . our young dog swallowed something which got stuck in his intestine , we took him to a well known 24 hour vet which was not a great experience we spent a decent amount of money for a couple of hours with not much achieved and no update about the cost until we got him out of there, so after a while of him still not eating I found this place .The experience from the first phone call to to picking our boy up in great shape a few days later was amazing . we where given a warm welcome and contacted through each day to update us on every procedure and the cost and to let us know how he was doing . Always served with an excellent service, my dog is treated with love, technicians always greet my dog with a smile and little kind words so you know right off the bat your animal is in good hands. My dog has had 3 surgeries at this vet with Dre Prevost and always came out with clear directions, fast healing, and prompt follow ups. My dog also had very painful back problems and Dre Prevost did not just blindly prescribe medication. She went directly to the source of the problem (excess of weight) and suggested a reasonable regime and goals and my dog's weight has been healthier than ever and the back pains are gone. Read Less

I could tell that the desk staff knew I was distressed before I fully walked in. 5 months pregnant and holding my cat Rockie who was clearly not well. I don't know what the said on the intercom but quickly several people were at the front assessing him in my arms. I already knew in my heart what the outcome of our visit was going to be but everybody made sure to ask me for my permission before doing anything whatsoever including removing him from my arms. Three weeks earlier we had a similar experience with an older cat at the DMV in the middle of the night so the reality of two of our babies leaving so close together was hard to cope with. My dog injured his paw and the vet/doctor was trying to con me into paying five grand for an unnecessary surgery. But they managed to squeeze out a thousand out of me to give my dog a cast that was poorly constructed and had no effect whatsoever. Brought my dog to another vet to follow up and to second opinion. They said that his bones are way too small and that the surgeon wouldn’t be able to operate anyway. The injury was minimal all along and that casting for this was futile. We chose Pierrefonds Animal Hospital because they were open until ten. From the moment we brought our beagle in just a minute before closing, they took such good care of him. A vet tech came out with a stretcher and he was brought in and a vet immediately started working on him. I can't say enough good things to say about the vet and the several vet techs that took care of him. We were there for over an hour and never felt rushed to leave. They were so compassionate and understanding. He was kept there for two days and two nights and we were comforted by the fact that there was an attendant there ALL night and that a vet was on call in case of emergency. It was a bit pricey but far less than the DMV would have been and when your dog is screaming in pain, you don't care about the money! I highly recommend this vet clinic. Read Less

For US petowners with AVID microchips: if you have moved to the West island suburbs, this hospital has the Micro Scanner III that will read your pet's chip... otherwise you will be out of luck at other veterinary offices/clinics. Not only did the staff accept me without an appointment, but they were kind enough to provide me a letter with my pet's chip number. My experience at this animal hospital has been exceptional. My leopard gecko, Po, has been dealing with shedding issues, and it was rather difficult for me to find a vet who would see him in the West Island. Dr. Robert of Pierrefonds Animal Hospital greeted me and Po with great enthusiasm, ready to help in any way that she could. Following the consultation, she has called three times to see how Po was doing, and to offer her incredible knowledge if I required any more advice. This is a busy place for veterinary service. Why? They are the best of the best. If you think your pet is worth the difference in quality, you must come to this hospital. The wait times are way too long, especially for the expensive prices they charge. I took my dog in because I thought she might have a bladder infection. We ended up waiting 3.5 hours in all. It took 1.5 hours and us complaining to get her vitals done, then another 45 minutes to see a vet for all of 5 minutes. Finally she got urine tests, and we were told that the results would be ready in 15 minutes. We continued to wait another 45 minutes until we left because my dog was to...o anxious and stressed. We were charged $205 for the tests and consultation. After seeing this I complained that we were charged full price for a consultation eventhough we only saw the vet for 5 minutes and didn't end up getting our results. We waited another 30 minutes for the vet to resolve this issue, but she said there was nothing she could do about the price, eventhough in the past when we have waited long a different vet gave us a substantial discount without being asked. The worst experience ever. First so expensive. My experience there that made me never to go back again is my puppy ate a lot of chocolate then they gave me a price I had to pay then they told me I had to pay an additional 100$ cause she has to stay over night which was fine. Once I had to go to the front to pay a down payment they wanted me to pay 300$ down payment which was more then the actual cost of the whole procedure. So I told them to recheck there research cause I’m not paying that it took them 20 mins to try and scam me for my money. And to top it all off they don’t call you to reassure you your pet is okay or nothing. Such a bad experience never going there again. I called this afternoon, concerned that my cat of 22yrs. had problems voiding her bowels.I mentioned that she was swollen, was throwing up occasionally. Asked if there was a laxative I could buy, she told me only by prescription by a vet, by consultation from a vet.Since I couldn't come today, as I had to work until 10pm., I asked her if there was anything I could do until I could make an appointement. She told me that, no, had to consult and see a vet.She didn't tell me about the other options, such as Vaseline, Hairball Paste.When I asked if there was a high -fiber food for cats, she told me ,"no, only by prescription from a vet".I know that this is false, that you don't need a prescription from a vet to buy a high-fiber cat food.I repeatedly asked her if there was anything I can do for my cat until I brought her in for a consultation.She told me ,"no,", have to see the Doctor.Not impressed by the uncaring and unhelpful person who answered the phone today, when I called at 3:00pm.March 13,2016, who, by the way, didn't answer the phone until I was put on hold, by an answering machine, for ten minutes.Will take my cat elsewhere. IT WAS NOT A WEEK AGO, IT WAS A YEAR AGO, AND MY CAT HAS SEEN DIED UNDER THEIR CARE.Had no other choice but to go to them, since no other vet was open later. They made me sign a waiver for $800 , I left my cat overnight, as they told me she was too dehydrated, they couldn't draw blood, she would be giving fluids intravenously overnight, and they would draw blood for tests the next day.I called them the next day, they told me that nothing had been done, they had tried to call me and were waiting for me to tell them what to do.What? The plan was to draw blood from her the next day, take blood tests.Over $100.00 per day, and they hadn't done anything yet? In the end, my cat died, needlessly. Was given wrong medication, had to wait almost a week for the right meds, was charged for 3 cases of cat food, instead of 3 cans, was given a painkiller that is toxic for cats with renal failure, (which my cat had).My beautiful Moka DIED because of this clinic. I'm still receiving bills in the mail from this clinic, stating that I owe them $300 .I paid them $1,100. and they will not receive one penny more.Come on, unnecessary tests, like cancer tests, for a cat who is 23yrs? They pray on you when you're vulnerable. BEWARE. When I asked if they take payment plans,was told that,"We are not a financial intitution". Read Less

Prices they give in the exam room do not correspond with those on the invoice. Never ever go there, or if you do, ask for a written estimate. They lied to us... they lost our business. It is very rare I will go out of my way to write a review, but please be cautious of this clinic. After seeing my cats paws jerking out in front of him and his mouth quivering i called here immediately to explained the symptoms. Assuming it was a seizure i went into triage. I was told he was very stable but that he would need over 600$ worth of tests. Including tests which i explained had been done recently by his usual veterinarian. The vet. seemed very kind and empathetic but basically only gave me that option and also suggested he could stay there and be monitored for an extra cost. All that being said, in the end all it was is a cracked tooth that needed to be extracted. Thankfully my amazing regular veterinarian took 1 minute to look in his mouth and see the obvious. All for 55$. My suggestion would be to only go here in serious cases of emergency. Taking advantage of someone who is emotional and concerned for there animal is never right. Read Less

If I were a cat, or dog, I would certainly prefer this veterinary hospital. Why?, it is first class and never stressful. Are prices lower in understaffed clinics with less experienced doctors, and located in less convenient comfortable and spacious environments? My cat Domino is spoiled. He is a member of our family, so we give him only the best of everything, including a patient doctor relationship with the elite veterinarian Dr Goldenberg. We are less than a few minutes away from a vet in St Laurent, We still insist on bringing him 21 kms further. When I need to see a doctor, sometimes the clinic is not half as nice as this one. My Oreo is like my baby. I've gone to many clinics before but they all seemed rushed and pushy. This is the only place that has answered all of my questions, were super friendly, professional, and POLITE. No stars. I worked for two different Vets for a total of 40 years. All injured or orphaned wild animals or birds where treated free of charge and if the person who brought them in did not want to care for those that could be treated then one of the staff ( 3 including the doctor ) would take them home and care for them until ready for release . These people will NOT help them, won't even try ! I found an injured seagull & offered to care for it but all they would do is kill it, fixable or not. I understand if it was my pet, they do have to make a living they are not a Humane Society but a wild bird ? It costs them pennies ! Do not believe for one second these people care about your or any animal. They care only for $$$$$. I gave 1 star only because you can't post without giving 1. I would prefer to give no star. Facility is fantastic: modern, clean, bright and fully-equipped for any need your pet has. Staff are competent and friendly and the vet care is second-to-none. I trust the care here 100% and have switched from my local vet practice in NDG all the way to Pierrefonds because of the confidence I have in their recommendations and quality of care. Tests can add up in cost, but these will be explained to you beforehand and an exact price quoted - one of the major gripes I had with my former vet was never knowing what the bill would be until it was too late to do anything about it. Love this clinic. They have been taking care of my many pets over the years and have always put the animals first, from always giving me thorough advice on the phone (not just saying to come in when not necessary) to helping us out with services for strays we found etc. They are doing great job and after having tried a lot of clinics I think they're the best in Montreal, from their gorgeous facilities to the great deal of compassion and knowledge their whole staff exhibits, especially in difficult times such as a big surgery or the passing of a pet. Our dog suffers from addison's disease, so i've been to a significant series of veterinary clinics to get her initial diagnosis and then for later treatment after moving.  She has been consistently mis-diagnosed or improperly medicated by multiple vets in the past...That stopped at pierrefonds animal hospital.  We specifically visit Dr. Erdman, who has continually gone above and beyond to treat our pup.  The facility is clean and professional.  I only wish they had a boarding facility.  The price is competitive with all other local veterinary services.  It's a bit out of a drive if you live downtown, it's in the west island, however the quality care provided by the staff overrules the drive.If you have an animal, do them a favor and take them to this vet for all their medical needs.
