My mom had good experience with her cat WITH MALE older vet. I was bringing her cat back to get pins out Nov 30, 2021. I called to get tooth extract & cleaning on 17 yr old cat. Told reception we are coming from Calgary. She said Norman was book No 29 Mon, but the would move him to Nov 30, put lottus to Mon knowing we are arriving Sun. I brought my Lottus Mon 8 am blood work done vet was lady ( THEY DIDN'T DO SUREGERY ON LOTTUS TILL LATE NOV 30 SHE HAD NOT EAT OR FLUIDS ALMOSE 2 DAYS) Dr. C.S. thought it would been old dr the man. Anyway, she did blood work said lottus sever anemia and kidney disease, in the hi to med level. she said only there would be a risk, "NOT THAT SHE WOULD DIE FOR SURE IF SHE GOT PROCDURE"! She didn't mention ketamin and traquilzer with kidney issue would kill her! I thought risk, but not death (TRANQUILERS WITH KIDNEY DISEASE OR FAILURE OR NOT RECOMMENDED THEY ARE VETS & SHOULD KNOW) and left Lottus. We travelled Sun Nov 29, 2021 Lottus didnt eat since 9 am and had chick broth and pediylite many times on travel. Anyway, Vet called Nov 30 said don't come down Lottus had trouble waking up they want keep her overnight. I came next day she was on her side doing a swimmer thing front lets. I asked whats going on? she didn't tell me why! Found out Dec 2 when I called her (I took her home NOV 30 nobody said not too ! Didn't tell me she would die or had GRAN MAL SIEZURES PRIOR) I took her and all night severe siezures) nobody who is a vet should let a cat go and not explain whats going on! what kind of person does that! I asked vet questions Dec 2 on speaker mom was listening, she siad cat had siesures after surgery, flatlined 2 x during and they didn't give epiniphrine no oxygetn when I saw her either, no mention of siesure meds giving, she needed B 12 also. no proper care & letting client know what happened! The office was so busy, but a senior cat needs special monitoring! I had to put her down Dec 2 am )she suffered severely all night) PA vets aren't open for emergancy, Nove 30 eveing. I called this vet that night she didn't say too much like bring her down will take care of her I asked for siesure med she said shed call in that it! too late by morning suffering GRAND MAL SIESURES ALL NIGHT. she should of told me not to take her because of the situation. she didn't she just wanted to paid! UNBELIEVABLE! THEY KILLED MY CAT WITH NOT PROPER CARE OR MEDS AND SHE NEEDED OXYGEN WHEN SHE GOT THE SIESURES AND ALSO SIESURE MEDS AND TO TELL ME WHAT WAS HAPPENING! AFTER SHE SIEZED ALL NIGHT I TOOK HER IN AM TO VET IN PA THOUGHT ID PUT HER DOWN SHE PROB HAD SUCH BRAIN DAMAGE. IT WAS A HEART WRENCHING THING WATCHING HER SUFFER ALL NIGHT..AS A VET SHE NEEDED TO ADVISE PROPERLY AND TELL NOT TO TAKE HER AND TELL SHE WAS SIEZING NOT HIDE IT FROM ME! UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR FROM A HUMAN BEING! I WILL BE FOLLOWING UP ON THIS I AM NOT LETTING THIS GO. NOT PROPER HANDLING OF AN ANIMAL AND CLIENT. NOBODY SHOULD GO THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT EVER! I found the male vet, who felt he needed to tell me that he has been one for 40 years, was rude and unpersonable. I inquired about vaccines for my dog, in particular the distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccine and if it was possible for an owner to get the three year vaccine at their clinic. I don't like to overvaccinate my dog. He proceeded to tell me that there is no such thing. Research papers I have read show that this vaccine can cover up to five years safely but companies like to protect themselves and say to vaccinate an adult dog at least every three years. My dog is ten, has had all of his proper puppy vaccines and when I worked in Montana as a vet tech my dog received a two year distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccine and a three year rabies vaccine. Once I moved to Kelowna and my dog was due for vaccines the majority of clinics I called offered three year distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccines along with a three year rabies vaccine. When I tried to tell him this he just walked away. The vet tech then tried to tell me that maybe it had to do with the region we lived in. This has nothing to do with the region we are living in. Yes, different drug companies may have different dates on the validity of their vaccines but I was disappointed that a vet, who apparently has 40 years of experience, told me that there is no such thing as three year distemper/parvovirus/adenovirus vaccine when clinics in Montana and B.C are giving dogs them. Sounds like a money grab to me trying to get people to come in more often than they need to and perhaps the vet needs to get with the times and do some research. Read Less
