If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Long story short they screwed up royally and now my cat is puking up worms. I recently adopted a cat from the shelter, a couple days after adoption I took her to central animal hospital for a check up and to receive her remaining shots/doses, etc. She told me everything was fine and all the cat needed was a rabies shot. I'd had my kitty for a couple of days now and I'd noticed a lot of gunk in her ear (leftovers from a completed mite treatment). I had to specifically ask the vet to clean her ears otherwise she wouldn't have done it. They charged me $40 for the ear swab alone. Now, a couple of months later my cat is puking up round worms the poor thing. I called the shelter to ask if they deworm their cats. They told me yes, it's one of the first things they do. Looking at my cats medical history from the shelter I can see that they did in fact administer Ivomec. but she was due for a second does around the same time I took my cat the vet. I called the vet and spoke to them and after getting in touch with the manager was very upset. To begin the receptionist came up with multiple ways to pass the blame before finally passing the issue on to a manager. The manager then tried to avoid talking to me saying she was too busy and that she would call me in a couple of days. I had to remind the receptionist and manager multiple times that my cat was puking up worms, and that I could not wait an indefinite number of days for them to get back to me. After getting on the phone with her I explained the situation and the mistake as calmly and politely as possible. Then the manager tried telling the me that the shelter doesn't de-worm, and my cat probably got if from another cat, or from being outside etc. Except my cat doesn't go outside, is my only cat, doesn't have fleas, etc. I told her that I already called the shelter to ask if they de-wormed my cat, and the manager insisted on arguing with me. Essentially claiming that the shelter had lied to me which I don't believe they had. All I was asking was that they provide the first dose free of charge to right their own mistake. Instead, the manager refused to take responsibility for her companies mistake and kept blaming everyone else instead. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAT THERE AGAIN. Read Less

Yesterday, Bobby, my cockaschnoodle, met his new vet, Dr Vanessa Tonn, for the first time. Previously we had always gone to Dr. Powell whom we will forever love and miss and I wasn't sure how Bobby would be with a new veterinarian. Dr Tonn was awesome with him, despite his mini-tantrum over the dental check and the anal gland procedure. The staff at Central have always been excellent to deal with over the last 20+ that I have dealt with them on a professional and personal level. Sometimes it gets a bit hectic and one might have to wait a few minutes to speak to a tech, or the Vet, but that is a sign of a good busy business where staff spend the time needed to educate/inform their clients. Nobody likes waiting but it's a fact of life everywhere you go and truthfully, I've never had to wait for my veterinarian as long as I've had to wait for my regular medical doctor. Kudos to the staff for being kind, compassionate and decent people who love our animals almost as much as we do.Read Less

Was disappointed in the service when I arrived to pick up my cat from her spay surgery. I waited 30 minutes to speak with a technician for care instructions, 2 people who came in after me were helped before me and were there for the same thing I was. It seemed as if they were helped because they're regulars (they were familiar with the staff and were chatting while others were waiting to be helped as well). The reason I used this vet clinic was because I had to go through somewhere that SCAT cat rescue partners with. I will be going back to my regular vet from now on. Read Less

My sweet little Yorkie Ella has had a rough first year of her life. She was born with a back leg defect, and went to see Dr Gibbs after having 3 patellar surgeries fail on her and he performed her fourth surgery. He is amazing with her and he is so smart! I especially enjoy the fact that he takes the time out of his day to make sure all of your pets needs are met. There's no rushing or time frame. It's now 3 weeks post op and her surgery is still a success and on the road to recovery. I also took her to see him when she was sick with a bacterial infection. I had taken her to my previous vet two days in a row where she was undiagnosed and she visited him the third day where he diagnosed her infection within minutes and she was on the right meds. We love the staff here and we have definitely found our new medical team. Dr Gibbs can't retire in the near future because we need him!Read Less

This was a disaster of an experience.  We normally have vet we take our dog to, however we chose Central Animal Hospital because they spay with laser treatment.  This reduces pain, scaring and speeds recovery.  We were quoted 350 total.  We asked if we could do checkup there before hand when dropping her off.  They said we could drop her off and they would do check up but we could not be present before or after surgery.  We refused checkup as we want to be present to voice concerns and hear and see the vets reactions live.  The appointment was made  for one week later.  During that week, we noticed she had developed an ear condition...likely an infection. We were told they charge for a checkup on top of spay anyway and still could not be present.  So we said if that's the case we think she has a ear infection and asked them to look at it.  They agreed and made notes. We arrived to pick up the pooch later in the day at the prescribed time.  We asked to talk to the vet, but was informed that no vets were working.  I asked about the ear and they said they could not  be sure what, if anything, the vet did or looked at as there was no notes from the vet.   The ears were cleaned however.   The total bill was not 350.... But nearly 600. A week later her ears are worse than ever..... I called for our free recheck appointment to get the ears looked  at and was informed that because she was in for a spay and not a checkup the ears would not be covered for free. Read Less

I took my dog to central for his yearly check-up and vaccines. I had a great experience. We were treated very nicely by everybody. It was recommended that he have a dental cleaning which I had done shortly after. I am so glad that they use the best standard of care here. They take dental X-Rays for all cleanings and for this I am so thankful. He had 3 abscessed teeth that needed to be pulled that would not have been visible to the eye that were causing him a great deal of pain. I had no idea! Read Less

Dr. Vanessa Tonn is the best vet I have ever had. When i awoke saturday morning before thanksgiving to head to Regina I realized my cat was very sick and in pain. The clinic was able to get me in immediately and kept my cat to ensure his health while I went to Regina. I have received numerous calls on his health and if money were an issue Dr. Tonn was willing to work with me to ensure he received the care required but was affordable. I live in Warman but will make the drive to Central from now on.

Read Less

We've taken various pets to Central over the years for various investigative procedures and / or surgeries our small town vet couldn't provide. There is none better than Dr. Gibbs and his staff. As to those who have complaints regarding the prices I would like to mention that a large staff and top end diagnostic equipment don't pay for themselves. I'd take my animals here again anytime. You guys took such excellent care of Buddy over the years, including during his recent, too short battle with kidney failure, which ultimately led to us saying goodbye yesterday. Thank you especially to the vet techs who took care of him during his stay in the clinic last week (thanks Sarah for leaving the cone off of him on Thursday so he could be more comfortable), to Dr. Lawrence for caring for Buddy during his illness, and to Dr. Wiks for looking after Buddy and Bear all of these years. Buddy will be greatly missed by all. We definitely will continue to take our Bear to your clinic in the future! Read Less

I adopted my kitty Jazzmine from the SPCA in October of 2000. She had her first checkup at Central Animal Hospital with Dr. Powell the next day. She hates being in the car, but Dr. Powell is always so good with her at her visits. He is also very friendly and knowledgable, which I appreciate as her kitty Mom. As an apartment dweller, I have needed to board Jazzmine several times when pest control spraying was being done, and each time the staff have been so helpful, and have both reassured me, and gone out of their way to make her stay a positive experience for her. I never hesitate to recommend the Clinic to others.

I have been going there ever since and have seen all of the doctors (Dr. Lawrence, Dr.Dull, Dr. Powell, Dr. Gibbs, and Dr. Wiks). They are all fantastic and show they really care. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Gibbs and Central Animal Hospital. We went for a meet and greet with our puppy, and Dr. Gibbs gave us an hour of his time, free of charge, to tell us all about the Center and tour us, talk to us about vaccines and different dog foods, and even invited us to stop by his home "whenever" with our dog for a visit. When my dog had her entropion surgery and was spayed, he called me at home to check on her, and even gave me his personal number to call if I had any concerns. Such a great place! Read Less
