Our dog Joey passed away today. Our regular vet, who had attended Joey many times but particularly over the last 6 weeks, (and who had been rude in the past) was unbelievably rude when I brought Joey in this morning. He was equally rude to the lady ahead of me and she was very upset. The vet basically said if the dog can stand up he's fine and when I tried to explain that he hadn't eaten anything in 10 days and barely drank (throwing up when he did), the vet refused to listen and told me to find another vet. I am so glad I went to Nutgrove Vet hospital. They were incredibly compassionate, professional and kind. They listened, gave us plenty of time, treated Joey and his human family with great respect and made an awful day as good as it could be. They may be slightly expensive but I wish I'd gone there a long time ago and maybe Joey would gave lived longer. Anyway, the other Vet persuaded us to buy a bag of specialist food 10 days ago which cost €100, and they MUST have known he was dying. I'd prefer to pay a bit more for professional and ethical treatment. I would highly recommend Nutgrove Veterinary Hospital. Read Less

Really friendly group of people providing the specialist care needed for sick pets. Tom and the nurses spend a good amount time making sure you know what's going on, so you leave really confident that everything that needs to be done is taken care of. I’ll no doubt be back. Read Less

I always bring my dog to Tom here. He is an excellent vet, very informative and compassionate. Treats my dog as a doctor would treat a human. Note there are other vets here but I stick with the same on each visit. Front desk staff friendly. Read Less

I don't doubt that the vets in this practice are skilled and experienced. But twice now I have been hit with unexpected bills. Last month my pet had a dental procedure (200eu). When I was paying and leaving, I was then asked to return one week later for a check up - I specifically asked how much it would cost and was told "free". However after the check-up I was charged 47eu for a "consultation" ... one which I didn't want or expect - my dog was perfectly FINE and I would not have gone back to the vet if I thought I was going to face another bill! I disputed the bill but it became embarrassing in front of a room full of pet owners, but I insisted that I was told the visit would be free and the nurse insisted on charging me. Similarly last year, my dog had some procedure, afterward I was told that they wanted to keep him for the afternoon to watch him .... I said grand ... but then I was hit with day-kennelling fees which I had not been told about or expected. I am not a customer who likes to be hit with unexpected bills like this. But other than the vets' billing practices, I think the vets are dedicated and have their pets interests at heart. I am moving to a new vet practice now and have explained this to Nutgrove Vets. I was not offered a refund for a 47 euro consultation which I had originally told would be a free check-up. I was disappointed in that. Read Less

We've been coming here for over 20 years with a variety of animals (rabbits, cats and now our newly adopted older dog) and can not praise the whole team highly enough...Even when the time has come to make difficult decissions (like putting my 18yr old cat to sleep late last year) the whole team were brilliant-really supportive and compassionate Read Less

We got to hold her in our arms while she went to heaven. The dignity and respect the staff showed my family and Missy will never ever be forgotten. Tom, William and the rest of the team have always been excellent with our two Staffies and have guided us through many trials and tribulations over the last 15 years. Most especially when it came time last week to say goodbye to Bella, they allowed her to pass with dignity and for us to be with her at the end. Read Less

My cat was recently quite ill, the first thing I did was bring her to Nutgrove Veterinary Hospital as I had previously brought her to this clinic before because of their fantastic service. The Vet I dealt with was professional and sympathetic, I could not rate him and this veterinary hospital any higher. P.S. My cat is back to full health again! Read Less

Terrible vet. My dog came here because he swallowed a chicken bone and they wanted to keep him in overnight for "surveillance". During the night he choked on his own vomit and died because there was no one actually watching him. Traumatic. Read Less

Having lived abroad and in Ireland, and working in cat rescue for most of my life I have brought animals to many vet practices over the years, both my own and rescues.  I made the mistake of trusting this practice with my senior cat and found both vets to be both incompetent and unkind, along with the veterinary nurses at that time. i found a baby bird today that was being attacked by big blackbirds,poor thing couldnt walk,i didnt know what to do with it but couldnt just watch it be pecked to death.After it was put in a box for me i didnt know where to bring it so called in at nutgrove vets just over the road.The nurse was very helpful and told me they would do the best they could for it,i was excepting to be sent away to the dspca,but there attitude and today just proves that they really care for animals.Thankyou to the nurse and vet there xx Read Less
