They wanted 300 to sedate x-ray + pain killers for my small terrier cross dog. I left with the dog who was in serious need of vetinary assistance I was made feel very embarrassed and upset in an already stressful and upsetting time. I also received a very unnecessary phone call from a staff member who made me even more upset and stressed stating that " no vet would look at my dog for less then 300" . I found a vet in Slane who stated the dog did NOT need sedation to x-ray as he was paralyzed they did four x-rays and gave him strong pain killers all for 60. Thats a BIG price difference. I have always had a great experience with the guys in Athboy Veterinary Clinic, but I must commend Anthony who came out at 12.30 the night before Christmas eve for my dog who had possibly eaten gum. We have all our pets registered here, they are the kindest most thorough vets I have come across. My lovely Dog Bodhie suffered for 3 years with a condition that my ( then) vet put down to him being overweight.... He had lost all the hair on his tail and on patches throughout his body. At Athboy vets he was diagnosed within weeks , he was hypothyroid, he is now the proud owner of a lovely bushy tail.... He has since had cancer and due to their excellent diagnosis and care he is now perfectly healthy. We moved here after another of our dogs sadly died due to inadequate diagnosis and care from a local vet. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. Read Less
