I notice most of these reviews mention Stewart and/or Neil? Certainly Dairy Flat Vet's website does need updating also because the vets I have dealt with in the past week are not mentioned on it; perhaps I know why. My 2 year old male tabby cat came inside last Saturday obviously agitated and upset with dried blood round his neck and throat, a number of cuts/scabs on his body and, alarmingly, his third eyelid halfway across his eye. As I am in the final stages of a terminal illness and not able to drive or even tend to my cat's injuries, I phoned round for an after hours vet, Ingrid at Dairy Flat, and my neighbour took the cat there on Sunday morning. Since I could not attend the appointment I wrote Ingrid I fairly long letter outlining his symptoms and what I could feel and see, including the blood and scabs that I could see and feel but was not able to examine. My cat was sent home yesterday (4 days later) and I was told on the phone that "ALL his cuts and wounds are healed" and "his eye will take time to come right". Late afternoon yesterday when Charlie, the cat, was asleep I was running my hands over him to see if I could feel the wounds I had felt 5 days earlier and I found what I thought was a particularly large rough scab behind and below his ear. After cutting away his fur in that area I could actually get 2 fingertips around the thing; it was that big! In the end I used long nosed tweezers, held the skin down, and yanked it out. Under the light I could quite clearly see it was a piece of WOOD that had been imbedded in his neck! One end was sharp and jagged and the other was wide and blunt; this had been in my cats' neck for at least 6 days, 5 of which he had spent at Dairy Flat Vet supposedly being examined and treated each day?! I found it by just running my hands over his fur - why did a whole team of trained veterinary staff NOT find it? Interestingly Charlie's third eyelid started to retract within a few hours of me removing the piece of wood - funny that! Ofcourse, I rang to complain today about this appalling incompetence and Ingrid hung up on me! Charming! When I called back and explained to "Alannah" what had happened she refused to give me details of the practice Owner/Manager, she told me she thought Charlie was "practically feral" and that he had "tried to bite a vet" - Charlie is about as feral as a goldfish, but I suppose if I had a knitting needle stuck in my neck for 6 days and people were constantly rubbing Conjunctivitis ointment in my eyes rather than removing the knitting needle I would probably want to bite someone too! Note; Charlie does NOT have Conjunctivitis! My cat could have suffered brain damage, paralysis, loss of sight or even died had this piece of wood gone any deeper and been left in any longer. Alannah was very keen for me NOT to use social media to express my views and even suggested that the wood had imbedded itself in Charlie's neck since he got home! As I kept him inside and he simply slept from the moment he got home until I discovered the piece of wood this is completely ludicrous and actually insulting! I still have the piece of wood along with photos of it and the gaping hole it left, and also shots of Charlie's eye as it improved.... I want to save others the Stress Charlie and I have been through and recommend that you use a different after hours service, or if you have to use Dairy Flat Vet BE VERY CAUTIOUS and trust your own instincts first as a pet owner. And I would NOT recommend Ingrid treat your animal if you do actually want the animal to be healed! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES DAIRY FLAT VETERINARY! Read Less
