This team always look after our pets so well. They have genuine sympathy for the animals, and when our dog ended up having to be put down last year, they were very kind and compassionate. Mr Singh can be a bit rough around the edges, but he always seems to put the animal first, not the owners :D I appreciate that. It's also a vet with reasonable prices, one of the very few in Auckland that we can actually afford. We have just taken our kitten in and they were great. Thank you team

My partner took our dog for a consultation with Dr. Harcharan Singh (not an emergency) yesterday and was given 3 injections WITH NO CONSENT OR CONSULTATION with my partner. My partner wasnt able to enter the vet clinic due to their resitrctions they had, so our dog could only be dropped off while my partner waited in the car, after the consultion, our dog was walked out and was handed an invoice and that was it, no discussion of anything when our dog was walked out to the card - just expected us to pay - that is exactly how it played out. Code of Professional Conduct states that "veterinarians are obliged to obtain clients informed consent to a proposed treatment/course of action" this should have been a interactive process between the vet and my partner however NO ONE contacted her to let them know of anything. My partner had to call in after and ask what all the injections were for? This should have never been the case to begin with & i am unhappy that this vet injected my dog without ANY VERBAL OR WRITTEN CONSENT!!!! I will be laying a formal complaint with the Veterinary Council of NZ as this is a serious and direct breach of trust between vet and client relationship and the professional standards that Veterians must uphold. I don't dissmiss the fact that the vet may have done what was best for my dog, however there was L I T E R A L L Y no consulation at any point.

Dr Singh and his team have been my vet for the past 15+ years for my now elderly cat Tessa aged 20 years old. Her longevity is due to the high quality care and advice Dr Singh has provided me over all these years. I cannot speak more highly of the service I have received, and for everything they have done for her over her very long life. Dr Singh has provided me and my Tessa with superior care, treatment and respect at all times, and has seen her through several surgeries, long term conditions treatment, and general check ups. If it wasn’t for Dr Singh and his team, I wouldn’t have been so fortunate to have had Tessa for this long, and I am forever grateful of all they have done for her.
He is also very affordable, and is always accommodating to answer any of my questions. Dr Singh is a very passionate about being a vet and giving the very best care to not only my Tessa, but to all animals that I have witnessed visiting the survey when I am there. His dedication to helping animals, his empathy and unrelenting support would be hard pressed to be surpassed by any other vet.
I cannot recommend him enough to anyone who is looking for a quality vet who you know you can trust with your beloved pet. I am truly grateful for everything you and your team have done for my Tessa. Thank you Marie

Poor service - whats the point of an emergency vet if they have no medication to offer.
Last night I took my Cat Sassy as she was struggling to breathe , she obviously has an respiratory infection which the vet confirmed . However we were extremely disappointed that the vet could not offer any medication because she did not have anything to give. The only thing they could offer was an incubation which would have stressed Sassy even more. $120 we were in consult for no more than 10mins - unfortunately won't using again
Now I have to see our own vet with another consultation fee !!

More sorry for my cat than for what i had to pay at the end of the visit. Saw a vet called Tina I think who is a Asian quite small girl. I have never ever seen such an awful injection and communication skills of a vet doctor. Inject my cat like inject a pile of dead chicken meat, without even explaining what and why she was using. 6 jabs I think straight into a terrifying dehydrated cat, over $400 bills with some unnecessary jabs. My poor cat is still getting over the experience. Not recommended her as a vet doctor for your fur babies

My poodle needed teeth work done, as well as ears plucked. I contacted the clinic, and they said to bring him in and they would do his ears and check his teeth. I took him in and they did his ear he never once yelped (when I do it he performs as if I’m killing him) The vet checked his teeth and said he needed teeth removed. Made an appointment to get him done, and dropped him off. Picked him up after 8 extractions, he has been happier than he has been in ages. Eating well already. I have other dogs who need teeth work done, and when I have saved up, I will definitely take them here.

We had to euthenise our old friend yesterday. Took him to western veterinary in avondale. The vet said the procedure was "quick and painless. Over in 5 seconds". She injected what she said was a sedative into his shoulder so he "wouldn't get agitated" during the procedure. Within a minute our poor suffering friend was wretching and vomiting. His whole little body was wracked with spasms. This went on for around a minute before the sedative worked enough for her to begin the final procedure. She then injected him with the anaesthetic. She said his heart will stop within 5 seconds. He howled in pain as she was finishing giving him that dose. And he was struggling to escape throughout this whole procedure. Well the first dose of anaesthetic didn't put our trusting friend to sleep. So she had to give him another dose. He was quite still by then but still alive. He howled again as she administered what was his final experience with us, his loved and trusted humans. It was THE worst experience I have had at any vet. We were already distraught and just wanted him to be out if his pain and misery. Well the experience he had gave him nothing but pain and misery until the anaesthetic finally worked. Would I recommend these vets? Only to be charged under the animal cruelty act. Scum.

so me and a friend went in for our puppies shots and the vet was very awkward towards me but he did kinda seem rude but i didn’t take it in a bad way. But when it was my friends turn to go see him he started making comments on the dogs collars (both our puppies had the same collars just different colours). Pretty much lecturing her and telling her not to do this and do that. Only thing he told me was the types of food dogs shouldn’t eat. IDK but my friend came out and said he was rude so not sure if we will take the puppies there for their next shot

Dr Singh is a man of little small talk, instead he cuts straight to the point about how he can best serve our beloved pet. After his physical observation of our pet (with the cause of illness still unknown), his recommendations for diagnosis were realistic and comforting. Even when I brought our pet back for a second observation two days later, he was rational, polite and explained what the next steps would be should Rico's health still not improve. It's not nice seeing your pet suffering, but it is nice to have trust in a stranger who cares as much about them, as you do.

We have been taking our Cara here for over a year now and have also taken her litter of pups. So thrilled we found these guys the quality of the care that our pets have received can’t be faulted and I really feel we have been given sound unbiased advice without trying to milk us for money. My brother is a vet in Ireland and has always commended the advice we get here, where he felt other vets had occasionally given us overly expensive unnecessary treatment recommendations. The staff have always been really friendly and accommodating especially when I’m clearly overreacting - they have been very patient which I appreciate. Highly recommend.

Have been taking my dog's to this vet since way back. I know a lot of people comment on Mr Grumpy being rude, but hey if you can get past that and wanna save a few bucks then go!! Your not there for small talk, it's all about your pet not what's the wife cooking tonight bs!! Very affordable pricing compared to most other vets. His daughter is also awesome and always spot on with what ever diagnoses for our fur babies. She also smiles 😁. Recent was desexing our boy and I must say you'd think the wee boy had nothing done at all, bounced back within hours and Mr Singh did a great tidy procedure for our boy. Highly recommend due to good pricing and quick efficiency.

Thanks to Dr Singh every visit had my cat coming home fixed up with a new zest for life, out doing some old cat hunting.. purfecting his new slow pounce technique, happy hungry with sparkle in his eye, it was really good to see. Sadly the years caught up and i had to have him put down yesterday so wanted to leave a review to thank all the crew for doing nothing but the best always....THANKS! and please guys ignore any bad reviews this vet knows his stuff, maybe he`s not mr walky talky man but he really does have your pets best interests at heart as i found out.

We have been going to Harcharan (Dr Singh) at Western Vets for 10 years + and he has always been excellent. Our very elderly dog was put to sleep after a stroke last week and, right till the very end of his life, he was still being cared for with a lot of heart and compassion. Harcharan is a no nonsense guy, whose kindness and generosity is obvious and consistent. He is a brilliant vet and surgeon, always gives you options, and never does anything unless is it totally necessary. If you want a vet to fluff around and listen to all your pet stories, do unnecessary tests and x-rays and charge you heaps, then give him a miss - if you would rather have a experienced and intelligent vet who stays focused on the job of healing your pet with the best quality service and at a very, very, reasonable price, then he is your man! I recommend you ignore the negative reviews - a one-off visit simply cannot compare to a client who has been impressed with this vet for a decade.

Very disappointed - my dog was in critical condition after an allergic reaction to a swarm of wasps and they made me wait in the waiting room while they were deciding what to feed a cat. They were then very rude to me and spoke to me as if I was stupid. Payment afterwards then took half an hour as we had 3 different people come out asking what we were waiting for after saying we still needed to pay several times. Just ridiculous and makes me wonder if they actually care for the animals. Won’t be back!

Terrible service! Both vet nurse & vet were very rude, I tried to ask questions about how the desexing procedure went and vet just closed the door in my face!? Lost my cats blanket and towel then blamed it on having a lot of cats in that day. Did not seem to show any compassion or empathy for my cat. Was charged for defleeing even thou my cat was defleed a couple days before by our usual vet. He talked down animates flee treatment saying “it didn’t work , was shitty cheap stuff ( which it was not) and that a flee jumped off my cat and bite him “ also over heard the vet nurse saying my cat hadn’t been defleed but soon changed her story when she saw me standing in the door way listening. Very poor communication and was talked down to the whole time. Will never ever be using western vet services and would NOT recommend going there!

Even got a text to say the surgery was a success and he would be ready for pick up earlier than expected if it suited. No problems with puppy he seems happy and ready to recover!

Went in for a checkup for an old cat that lives in our neighbourhood and may have been dumped. wanted a general checkup as well as a specific issue with her drooling and sticking tongue out.
Was not happy with the vet's communication skills and apathy. He did not seem to have any empathy with the cat at all and did not seem to follow any sort of process in his checkup. He made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him.
He told me that some of the teeth didn't look great but did not recommend anything unless specifically asked.
Told me to put her on dry food and give her a supplement pill, told me that the diet we were giving her of raw chicken was not good and that a dry food would be better.
The nurse was lovely and obviously loved animals, so she was definitely the highlight of our trip.
Went to another vet about a week later due to her suddenly developing abscesses on her gums from the tooth being so bad - dry food is completely wrong for the cat and supplements are the least of our worries.. would recommend going to St Luke's Vet instead, as the vets are much more caring and forthcoming with advice and information.

I started going to this vet a few years ago and really didn't know what to expect, but when one of my dogs had his first seizure I realised how much they really do love pets and care for them. Their approach is no non-sense, they don't do anything extra to your pet if it's not necessary. In our eyes, he save our dogs life and he's taught us how to cope with an epileptic dog. He's amazing and we wouldn't trust anyone else! Affordable prices and great service. Highly recommend.

I started going to this vet a few years ago and really didn't know what to expect, but when one of my dogs had his first seizure I realised how much they really do love pets and care for them. Their approach is no non-sense, they don't do anything extra to your pet if it's not necessary. In our eyes, he save our dogs life and he's taught us how to cope with an epileptic dog. He's amazing and we wouldn't trust anyone else! Affordable prices and great service. Highly recommend.

Ended up healing with out any need for surgery after advice alse where! He just wanted $400 to do nothing! All I needed was some kind words and good advice not to feel like there was no hope!

This team always look after our pets so well. They have genuine sympathy for the animals, and when our dog ended up having to be put down last year, they were very kind and compassionate. Mr Singh can be a bit rough around the edges, but he always seems to put the animal first, not the owners :D I appreciate that. It's also a vet with reasonable prices, one of the very few in Auckland that we can actually afford. We have just taken our kitten in and they were great. Thank you team

My partner took our dog for a consultation with Dr. Harcharan Singh (not an emergency) yesterday and was given 3 injections WITH NO CONSENT OR CONSULTATION with my partner. My partner wasnt able to enter the vet clinic due to their resitrctions they had, so our dog could only be dropped off while my partner waited in the car, after the consultion, our dog was walked out and was handed an invoice and that was it, no discussion of anything when our dog was walked out to the card - just expected us to pay - that is exactly how it played out. Code of Professional Conduct states that "veterinarians are obliged to obtain clients informed consent to a proposed treatment/course of action" this should have been a interactive process between the vet and my partner however NO ONE contacted her to let them know of anything. My partner had to call in after and ask what all the injections were for? This should have never been the case to begin with & i am unhappy that this vet injected my dog without ANY VERBAL OR WRITTEN CONSENT!!!! I will be laying a formal complaint with the Veterinary Council of NZ as this is a serious and direct breach of trust between vet and client relationship and the professional standards that Veterians must uphold. I don't dissmiss the fact that the vet may have done what was best for my dog, however there was L I T E R A L L Y no consulation at any point.

Dr Singh and his team have been my vet for the past 15+ years for my now elderly cat Tessa aged 20 years old. Her longevity is due to the high quality care and advice Dr Singh has provided me over all these years. I cannot speak more highly of the service I have received, and for everything they have done for her over her very long life. Dr Singh has provided me and my Tessa with superior care, treatment and respect at all times, and has seen her through several surgeries, long term conditions treatment, and general check ups. If it wasn’t for Dr Singh and his team, I wouldn’t have been so fortunate to have had Tessa for this long, and I am forever grateful of all they have done for her.
He is also very affordable, and is always accommodating to answer any of my questions. Dr Singh is a very passionate about being a vet and giving the very best care to not only my Tessa, but to all animals that I have witnessed visiting the survey when I am there. His dedication to helping animals, his empathy and unrelenting support would be hard pressed to be surpassed by any other vet.
I cannot recommend him enough to anyone who is looking for a quality vet who you know you can trust with your beloved pet. I am truly grateful for everything you and your team have done for my Tessa. Thank you Marie

Poor service - whats the point of an emergency vet if they have no medication to offer.
Last night I took my Cat Sassy as she was struggling to breathe , she obviously has an respiratory infection which the vet confirmed . However we were extremely disappointed that the vet could not offer any medication because she did not have anything to give. The only thing they could offer was an incubation which would have stressed Sassy even more. $120 we were in consult for no more than 10mins - unfortunately won't using again
Now I have to see our own vet with another consultation fee !!

More sorry for my cat than for what i had to pay at the end of the visit. Saw a vet called Tina I think who is a Asian quite small girl. I have never ever seen such an awful injection and communication skills of a vet doctor. Inject my cat like inject a pile of dead chicken meat, without even explaining what and why she was using. 6 jabs I think straight into a terrifying dehydrated cat, over $400 bills with some unnecessary jabs. My poor cat is still getting over the experience. Not recommended her as a vet doctor for your fur babies

My poodle needed teeth work done, as well as ears plucked. I contacted the clinic, and they said to bring him in and they would do his ears and check his teeth. I took him in and they did his ear he never once yelped (when I do it he performs as if I’m killing him) The vet checked his teeth and said he needed teeth removed. Made an appointment to get him done, and dropped him off. Picked him up after 8 extractions, he has been happier than he has been in ages. Eating well already. I have other dogs who need teeth work done, and when I have saved up, I will definitely take them here.

We had to euthenise our old friend yesterday. Took him to western veterinary in avondale. The vet said the procedure was "quick and painless. Over in 5 seconds". She injected what she said was a sedative into his shoulder so he "wouldn't get agitated" during the procedure. Within a minute our poor suffering friend was wretching and vomiting. His whole little body was wracked with spasms. This went on for around a minute before the sedative worked enough for her to begin the final procedure. She then injected him with the anaesthetic. She said his heart will stop within 5 seconds. He howled in pain as she was finishing giving him that dose. And he was struggling to escape throughout this whole procedure. Well the first dose of anaesthetic didn't put our trusting friend to sleep. So she had to give him another dose. He was quite still by then but still alive. He howled again as she administered what was his final experience with us, his loved and trusted humans. It was THE worst experience I have had at any vet. We were already distraught and just wanted him to be out if his pain and misery. Well the experience he had gave him nothing but pain and misery until the anaesthetic finally worked. Would I recommend these vets? Only to be charged under the animal cruelty act. Scum.

But when it was my friends turn to go see him he started making comments on the dogs collars (both our puppies had the same collars just different colours). Pretty much lecturing her and telling her not to do this and do that. Only thing he told me was the types of food dogs shouldn’t eat. IDK but my friend came out and said he was rude so not sure if we will take the puppies there for their next shot

Dr Singh is a man of little small talk, instead he cuts straight to the point about how he can best serve our beloved pet. After his physical observation of our pet (with the cause of illness still unknown), his recommendations for diagnosis were realistic and comforting. Even when I brought our pet back for a second observation two days later, he was rational, polite and explained what the next steps would be should Rico's health still not improve. It's not nice seeing your pet suffering, but it is nice to have trust in a stranger who cares as much about them, as you do.

We have been taking our Cara here for over a year now and have also taken her litter of pups. So thrilled we found these guys the quality of the care that our pets have received can’t be faulted and I really feel we have been given sound unbiased advice without trying to milk us for money. My brother is a vet in Ireland and has always commended the advice we get here, where he felt other vets had occasionally given us overly expensive unnecessary treatment recommendations. The staff have always been really friendly and accommodating especially when I’m clearly overreacting - they have been very patient which I appreciate. Highly recommend.

Have been taking my dog's to this vet since way back. I know a lot of people comment on Mr Grumpy being rude, but hey if you can get past that and wanna save a few bucks then go!! Your not there for small talk, it's all about your pet not what's the wife cooking tonight bs!! Very affordable pricing compared to most other vets. His daughter is also awesome and always spot on with what ever diagnoses for our fur babies. She also smiles 😁. Recent was desexing our boy and I must say you'd think the wee boy had nothing done at all, bounced back within hours and Mr Singh did a great tidy procedure for our boy. Highly recommend due to good pricing and quick efficiency.

Thanks to Dr Singh every visit had my cat coming home fixed up with a new zest for life, out doing some old cat hunting.. purfecting his new slow pounce technique, happy hungry with sparkle in his eye, it was really good to see. Sadly the years caught up and i had to have him put down yesterday so wanted to leave a review to thank all the crew for doing nothing but the best always....THANKS! and please guys ignore any bad reviews this vet knows his stuff, maybe he`s not mr walky talky man but he really does have your pets best interests at heart as i found out.

We have been going to Harcharan (Dr Singh) at Western Vets for 10 years + and he has always been excellent. Our very elderly dog was put to sleep after a stroke last week and, right till the very end of his life, he was still being cared for with a lot of heart and compassion. Harcharan is a no nonsense guy, whose kindness and generosity is obvious and consistent. He is a brilliant vet and surgeon, always gives you options, and never does anything unless is it totally necessary. If you want a vet to fluff around and listen to all your pet stories, do unnecessary tests and x-rays and charge you heaps, then give him a miss - if you would rather have a experienced and intelligent vet who stays focused on the job of healing your pet with the best quality service and at a very, very, reasonable price, then he is your man! I recommend you ignore the negative reviews - a one-off visit simply cannot compare to a client who has been impressed with this vet for a decade.

Very disappointed - my dog was in critical condition after an allergic reaction to a swarm of wasps and they made me wait in the waiting room while they were deciding what to feed a cat. They were then very rude to me and spoke to me as if I was stupid. Payment afterwards then took half an hour as we had 3 different people come out asking what we were waiting for after saying we still needed to pay several times. Just ridiculous and makes me wonder if they actually care for the animals. Won’t be back!

Terrible service! Both vet nurse & vet were very rude, I tried to ask questions about how the desexing procedure went and vet just closed the door in my face!? Lost my cats blanket and towel then blamed it on having a lot of cats in that day. Did not seem to show any compassion or empathy for my cat. Was charged for defleeing even thou my cat was defleed a couple days before by our usual vet. He talked down animates flee treatment saying “it didn’t work , was shitty cheap stuff ( which it was not) and that a flee jumped off my cat and bite him “ also over heard the vet nurse saying my cat hadn’t been defleed but soon changed her story when she saw me standing in the door way listening. Very poor communication and was talked down to the whole time. Will never ever be using western vet services and would NOT recommend going there!

A week later when combing her she was covered in fleas, do not believe she was given a flea treatment only charged for one. Service was slack and slow.

Even got a text to say the surgery was a success and he would be ready for pick up earlier than expected if it suited. No problems with puppy he seems happy and ready to recover!

Went in for a checkup for an old cat that lives in our neighbourhood and may have been dumped. wanted a general checkup as well as a specific issue with her drooling and sticking tongue out.
Was not happy with the vet's communication skills and apathy. He did not seem to have any empathy with the cat at all and did not seem to follow any sort of process in his checkup. He made us feel like we were an inconvenience to him.
He told me that some of the teeth didn't look great but did not recommend anything unless specifically asked.
Told me to put her on dry food and give her a supplement pill, told me that the diet we were giving her of raw chicken was not good and that a dry food would be better.
The nurse was lovely and obviously loved animals, so she was definitely the highlight of our trip.
Went to another vet about a week later due to her suddenly developing abscesses on her gums from the tooth being so bad - dry food is completely wrong for the cat and supplements are the least of our worries.. would recommend going to St Luke's Vet instead, as the vets are much more caring and forthcoming with advice and information.

Pretty shocked to read bad reviews! I started going to this vet a few years ago and really didn't know what to expect, but when one of my dogs had his first seizure I realised how much they really do love pets and care for them. Their approach is no non-sense, they don't do anything extra to your pet if it's not necessary. In our eyes, he save our dogs life and he's taught us how to cope with an epileptic dog. He's amazing and we wouldn't trust anyone else! Affordable prices and great service. Highly recommend.

Their approach is no non-sense, they don't do anything extra to your pet if it's not necessary. In our eyes, he save our dogs life and he's taught us how to cope with an epileptic dog. He's amazing and we wouldn't trust anyone else! Affordable prices and great service. Highly recommend.

Good first time experience with another vet but unfortunately on the second visit we experienced poor communication skills, injecting pet without saying what it is, why or how much it's going to cost, prescribing antibiotics without explaining what they are supposed to treat. Left with a hefty bill and a traumatised and manhandled cat.

Terrible! Went to them in desperation on a Sunday as my usual amazing vets was not open and had a terrible experience.
Dog with a wound on ear after dog fight and was treated like a criminal! Told that they would continue to fight as they are fighting dogs he acted like he did not love animals sceard of a 7 month old pup! Then no help with wound wanted to put him under just to look at it. Ended up healing with out any need for surgery after advice alse where! He just wanted $400 to do nothing! All I needed was some kind words and good advice not to feel like there was no hope!

Found a lost dog and the people there were very friendly and helpful they took care of everything very quickly. Plus, they work on Sunday.
