Our brand new animal hospital is being purpose built at 511 Cameron Road, Tauranga and will be open soon. We have mobile service available at the moment. We have state of the art equipments and facilities including digital radiography, ultrasonography, in-house laboratory and sterile surgical suite.
Our aim is to provide friendly advice and high-standard of veterinary care at an affordable price. And thats possible because we work smarter…
Our team is led by Dr. Shrawan Bhandari, a New Zealand registered mixed practitioner with several years of working experience both with pets and farm animals. Originally from Nepal, he migrated to New Zealand in 2004 and is now a NZ citizen. Besides overseas (Canada, Nepal), in New Zealand he has worked as a vet in South Canterbury, Manawatu and Waikato regions.
He was qualified as a vet (BVSc) in 2001. After working for two years in mixed practice, he completed a masters degree from Massey University specialising in reproduction in 2004. He then moved to Canada and worked at University of Saskatoon. He came back to New Zealand to undertake a PhD in lung infections. After five years of research works, he successfully completed the doctoral degree from Christchurch School of Medicine, Otago University. He then studied at Massey to complete a postgraduate diploma in small animal oncology (study of cancers) and anaesthesia. He is very keen to keep himself update on the new research areas that can be applied to everyday vet practice.
He will be looking forward to meet you and your pets very soon!

I recently brought my goat Milo to SmartVets as he had been unwell. Although Milo's condition ended up being terminal, the treatment Milo received was outstanding. Dr Shrawan went above and beyond in obtaining a tricky diagnosis, was compassionate and understanding throughout Milo's illness and most importantly of all Milo was treated as not just a goat but as a beloved family member. I highly recommend SmartVets to everyone for any animal big or small.

What fantastic people! ! I had my 2 cats teeth cleaned yesterday. They took such good care of them. Jaz was just wonderful. It was really sweet she must have cuddled them so much I could smell her perfume on their heads. Thank you so much. I totally recommend them. Jaz just phoned me to check they were okay. What a thoughtful thing to do. Fantastic vets!!!

Thanks to Smart Vets, all my kittens bred are taken care of with the best quality of care. Shrwan and the team, have huge hearts with all animals that come into the hospital and thankfully, with great generosities and good will, have the cheapest options to suit most budgets. This is no doubt the best vet I have found in the whole of the Bay of Plenty. I will continue to visit Smart Vets Hospital for all my pet essential requirements and have developed great friendships with the staff, I am incredibley grateful for their commitment and service to our family.

Wouldn't hesitate to use SmartVets again! My dog needed emergency surgery for a pyometra..i was quoted $1400 from another vet down the road, and shrawan at SmartVets quoted me less than $300 for the same surgery and care! Definately the best price in town..the service was great, even though the surgery took place in the mobile unit due to clinic renovations, everything went without a hitch and the staff were very friendly and reassuring! Also had the added benefit of being able to text the vet with any queries and getting direct professional answers whenever needed without the hassle of making further appointments! *recommended* thanks again Shrawan and team

They have seen Simba a couple of times now for his shots and when he had a sore tummy I give these ladies 5 stars they are all very caring and the way they rushed out to see him it reminded me of the ...

Awesome!! Service is fantastic and so is the price. Took my dog to get spayed and she was so well looked after. I recieved texts to know she was doing ok and also texts days after to see how she was going. Took her and her big brother back and she was so happy to see shrawan! Excellent service and genuinely very caring. Highly recommend

I recently brought my goat Milo to SmartVets as he had been unwell. Although Milo's condition ended up being terminal, the treatment Milo received was outstanding.
