We took our little pup to the Kempton Animal Hospital Sunday the 20th of Sep . He had been trying to vomit and he just wasn’t the same . We had recently had a big mice issue and we had used a glue trap . We had disposed of the trap but our little puppy had dug through the bags and managed to get to the packet . We didn’t physically see him eat one . We just assumed he did . So we explained to Dr Herman that it’s possible he has ingested this mouse covered in the glue . Herman than felt a little and the just took him and gave him injections for Nausea . First of all he didn’t he say what he was going to do he just took him and went only after when he had given him the injections did he tell us . Already I was out off because of their lack of communication. So they do a levy surcharge so Sunday was double consultation fee which was R750 After everything he said we can go . My dogs condition worsened drastically and Tuesday afternoon we rushed him back to the Kempton Animal Hospital. He was admitted . While we were waiting to hear what now . They were so busy trying to attend to so many animals at a time . They were running around like headless chickens . They didn’t tell us anything they just gave us an invoice and asked for a deposit . We paid a deposit and left . Wednesday we tried phoning them to see how my puppy was doing . They would just say the vet will get back to me . NO VET EVER GOT BACK TO ME . Eventually after phoning about 5 times within 3hrs we got some feedback . Then when we asked will he make it past this Dr Thinus said “ Ya he looks fine but I’m not God so ja “ Wednesday we went to visit him . When we walked to the back to his cage his drip he was on wasn’t even working !! He had extreme diarrhea and they left him laying in it . The environment just standing there was so dark and dingy it was unpleasant. Can you imagine what those poor animals feel like . My pup was clearly neglected . We went straight to reception and said we would like to discharge him as we are transferring him to Craig View . The other VERY rude receptionist with the glasses and a bob asked the other receptionist what was happening. They were gossiping about my decision to move my dog to Craig view right in front of me , all in Afrikaans yes I’m English but I understood every word. They then said they waiting for the discharge papers . So we waited for about 10min . Herman than came out and asked if we done visiting already ? We said no sorry we discharging him and we waiting for the papers . He turned around and said “ what papers “ Those receptionist clearly don’t know what an Emergency is . They took another 20min to take the drip out and clean him . Eventually they brought him out . Then they were going to keep him until I paid up to date . To be honest I hadn’t plan any of this and I had already made two Payments to them . I said I will come and settle it now I need to get him to a vet . All they care about is MONEY and not the well being of your baby . They are the worst vets out there . Please don’t put the lives of your fur baby’s In Their hands . If I hadn’t moved my dog to Craig View I can guarantee he wouldn’t have made it . They are so focused on getting money that they take on so many animals in that they cannot give each animal the attention they need . Disgusted by Kempton Animal Hospital . It is a shame that I am giving this Vet 1 star due to 1 doctor. The staff and doctors are wonderful and I have been with them for many years, unfortunately after my last visit and the treatment and demeanour of one "gentlemen" doctor, who did not care about my concerns and my worries about my animal and seemed to be more concerned about money rather than my animals care and my concerns as the animals owner. Due to this doctors behaviour and the treatment I experience, I have moved my animals care to another Vet. Read Less

My cat went walking on our pavement as cats tend to do and was attacked by loose dogs in the neighborhood. We got rid of the dogs and caught our cat and cleaned him up gently to see the extent of the damage because he had messed himself during the whole ordeal. We got him warm and called around to vets. This vet was the only open vet and so we drove to them having never been there before. When we got there and sat down, we took a look at our guy and unfortunately our cat had passed already. We told the receptionist that we didn't need to see the vet because our cat had passed on already. The vet came out and insisted on seeing the cat and I told him the cat was gone but he said no he wants to take a look quickly and I repeated that it wasnt necessary because the cat was dead and he grabbed the container from me and went to the rooms while my son and I followed telling him the cat was gone. He took him out of the container we had him in and unwrapped him while I kept repeating that Talon was already gone and then he said "unfortunately he is dead, I'll just charge you half of the consultation fee. Would you like to pay for us to dispose of the body?" - I was in such shock and my family and I were all in tears and I couldn't believe that this man, after I already told him the cat was dead, would charge me R300 so that he could tell me that our cat was gone. We werent even in there for 3 minutes and were bawling our eyes out the entire time. He even followed me to reception to tell her to put half price through for the consultation just in case I didn't pay. I was in shock and just paid automatically but honestly, it's been 11 months now and anyone that I've spoken to about this pathetic excuse for a vet has a similar story of shocking interest solely in the cash but lack of interest or care for the people and their animals and I decided that I have an obligation to actually rate them and be honest about their treatment of us. Useless Vet. Had my dog there with Alegia. Got a R5000 bill a week later and then was told that they were in too much debt to do any further treatment and then forced me to put my dog down when I wanted to pay the bill and take my dog elsewhere. Read Less

The only thing I can fault this clinic with is that occasionally we've had to wait a while. Other than that, they are fantastic! Competent doctors and even reception knows what's going on. One of the very few vets that has an emergency service and is really concerned about the wellfare of the animal. I also really appreciate that the vet will explore all options with you and explain options to you and not just push for the most expensive treatment. It helps you to make an educated decision on your pets behalf. The prices are very reasonable and you can rest easy knowing that your pet is in good hands. Read Less

I have been with this practice for over 13 years and I can honestly say that they are the best. People need to keep in mind that these people are not miracle workers and can not save each and every animal that is old,sick or hurt. What I can say though, is that they will always do the best they can and they will do so with love and compassion,not only for your fur child but also for you. The day I had to send my 14 year old Labrador (who was a patient of theirs since he was a young pup) over to the Rainbow Bridge was one of the hardest days of my life, but thanks to Tersius and his team it is a beautiful, although heartbreaking memory that I will treasure. My girlfriend came here on a Tuesday with our puppy. They gave her medication and we were told that the checkup was free. We called in on the Saturday to see if we should come in because the symptoms were still there. The vet said she would call us back, but never did. We called again, she said she would call us back, but again she never did. We then went there on Sunday. The gentleman who assisted was extremely rude to us, and said we should have said something earlier, although we did but the vet didn't call us back and simply ignored us. The gentleman then said that we would have to pay since it is Sunday (although we called in the day before to ask if we should come in). This is terrible service, and this establishment has forever lost my business. Read Less

I would not take my pets to any other vet than Kempton Veterinary Hospital. My dog Cooper had Parvo Virus and I was sure he would not make it but the love and dedication of these fantastic doctors helped my poor dog pull through. I was constantly phoning and not once did it sound like they had minded to take my calls or phone me back. Excellent service! :)Read Less

I went to Kempton Animal Hospital on a Sunday afternoon when my beagle seemed ill. Staff were professional, veterinarian amazing and after a painshot for tummy ache Bubbles was back to her old self! Thank you for being the most amazing vet hospital today and every time I have been there! Read Less
