Twice in the past month a family member or I have been to the SPCA, the first time I was there, I have had most of my animals fixed at the SPCA, as to me it is the right thing to do. Never have I before been sent away, because they do not help you because you earn an income...... Well apparently they will no longer help you with your pets, because they are taking business away from the vets!!!! Today, my daughter who is unemployed, took her little cat to the SPCA, as she thought there is something wrong with her and wanted to check that she could have her cat sterilized...... Imagine her surprise to be told by someone that her cat as aids and she is pregnant and the babies have to be aborted, and that the cat must be taken to a VET???? I get the feeling that Benoni SPCA is no longer there to serve the public, but they are there to misdiagnose your cat, upset the pet owner and make money for the vets. Am I the only person that gets this feeling or is there a real concern out there that they are no longer serving the public?Read Less

We collected our new family member yesterday, while it took over two weeks to get right between needing a home inspection done by another branch, and resolving the spaying issue for an abandoned queen and her kittens we took in, we are ever so greatful to the SPCA for the work they do. In between all the walk in visitors, callers and emergencies the assistance and support provided was appreciated, I know I can be a nag but was always received with a smile. Thank You for helping us compete our family. Read Less

We received a visit from your inspector this morning, to inspect our grooming parlour DEZYNA DOGZ, and our kennels. We have no problem in the SPCA coming at any time to inspect, however with the constant threat and recent outbreak nationally of PARVOVIRUS and DISTEMPER, I am surprised that it is not standard practice for inspectors to disinfect their footwear, clothing and hands when coming onto and leaving a breeders property. By visiting our property this morning and coming from the SPCA and other properties, you are putting our dogs and others at risk. Something I am not at all happy about. May I suggest that your inspectors carry a spray bottle of F10 and spray their footwear, clothing and hands, in the presence of the owner when they want to enter a property, and have physical contact with the dogs. Kind regards Adrian and Cheryl BatteyRead Less

Went to Benoni spca today to adopt a cat, our 2nd adoption at this spca... Completed the forms, and was told that i cannot adopt a cat because one of my dogs is not sterilized... We are encouraged to adopt a pet at spca to avoid supporting petshops or breeders that is not legit, which I fully agree because I feel I would rather give a nice home to a pet that has no home that will later on be put down, and support the spca... I don't agree with this new law, because my toy Pom who has not been spayed is 6 years old, going on 7, and I am not going to put her through all that now, so by putting this law in place it pushes the people away and they will probably end up buying a pet anyway from someone else... The spca is always asking for donations and support, but why are u making it so difficult with such stupid rules?? Is it not more important that these poor animals get a good home with a loving family? Are the animals that u have up for adoption not getting sterilized anyway? It makes no sense, unfortunately, and the money I would have spend to support u guys, I will now take somewhere else... :(Read Less
