Columbine Veterinary Hospital

I am so disappointed in this vet. I took my dog there on Friday 17th October 2025 because he has been vomitting and just didnt look well overall - Upon arriving at Columbine Vet a test was conducted to check if my dog didnt have some viral infection that could be contagious but luckily he tested negative. Dr SK then examined him and said he has jaundice but he will do further tests to see if there is an underlying issue. He gave me a bill of R4800 and some odd rands stating on there that i will be paying for the hospital stay, sedation, 3 x-rays and other listed medications - Fine, We paid the R4000 as was requested because all we wanted was for my dog to receive the best possible care and for his health to improve because heaven knows we cannot afford to lose this child. Dr SK then said he will phone me the evening just to give me an update on my child but that didnt happen - The next day he called me and said my baby will need blood transfusion because his red blood cells are being destroyed etc etc, ofcoz we agreed for him to go ahead and give my baby the blood he needs at an additional R2500 - (Its our child so we will make a plan to make sure he gets better)...Saturday morning I went to visit him and sat with him while he got the blood transfusion. Sunday morning I got a call from Dr SK again that we need to be there by 11am, We arrived there and was told we need to take him for a walk which we did...My frustration came in when I arrived there and my dog was still in the same condition if not worse then when I left him there - Dr SK said he fed him soft dog food but when he vomitted there was pebbles that came up and not soft food as I was advised. Dr SK ONLY took x-rays the sunday and still had the nerve to tell me that he is not charging me extra for those x-rays when he already charged me for 3 x-rays that he couldnt show me. He told me that for an additional R2500 he can "run my dogs blood" to see if there is anything wrong which I feel SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE on the FIRST day because how are you expecting to help me when you dont even know what is wrong with my dog???? I AM LIVID LIVID LIVID LIVID like I cannot even express enough how ANGRY I am because my baby is not doing ANY BETTER - He didnt give me any medication after I decided to bring my baby home Sunday because he was left to sleep alone in the dark the entire night and I know he hates the dark so I decided to bring him home...I HONESTLY FEEL LIKE THIS DR WAS JUST CHASING A MONETARY TARGET and I am super disappointed in that because as a vet you are supposed to treat animals the same way a human doctor would treat humans and not just rack up a bill because you think animals cant speak so you can say anything and charge te owners knowing that they would pay whatever to get their animals healthy again - IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS THEN I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET!!! Dr SK most compassionate VET . Dr goes extra mile when treating your four legged children. Explains everything. Makes you feel part of family. Our doggies get treated as if they his own 🐕 🐶. Words fails me for gratitude how our children been treated. Even does house calls. Thank you Dr SK. Read Less
