NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! “Compassion is our Passion” - what a load of trash!! Had an emergency with our pup on Easter Sunday (5:00 am), the vet on duty full on refuse to treat our dog (which at the time had to be hospitalized), gave us a stiff bill and demanded we pay upfront before any help would be given to our pup. We tried to arrange to make payment before our pup would be released or at least till we could go to the banks (which due to Easter were closed). When we finally came to fetch our furbabe the vet on duty gave him to us on a drip at 6 in the morning and told us to take him to our vet (they only opened at 8:00 am). My husband and I had no knowledge on how to handle the situation nevermind the drip and had to wait in the car, infront of our vet for close to 2hours till they opened up and our pup could be re-hospitalized. I don’t seem to understand why this is called an “emergency vet” and you should Still transport your pet through to your usual vet once they open back up. Why pay twice when they refer you back to your own vet??? Our usual vet had way more compassion towards us and our pup and don’t refuse to help no matter what the situation may be. Unfortunately our little one didn’t make it and we can’t help to wonder if the 2hour wait might have lead to this.

This little baby had an unfortunate accident this morning, mommy found him struggling to breath and rushed him to the emergency vet. They took x-rays (R1000.00) and said there is bleeding on the lungs, BUT sorry we can't help as we are now closing. WHAT KIND OF HEARTLESS VET DOES THIS!!!!!! My daughter rushed him to the Boskruin Vet, they x-rayed again (no charge) and he is now in an oxygen box, cause there is no oxygen mask small enough for him. We will spend the day praying he is going to be okay - BIG THANK YOU BOSKRUIN VET, YOU GUYS ROCK

Pity you cant rate with a 0 star rating. My dog had an accident and got cut quite badly on her thigh. Called them for assistance and said just see the vet they need 1000 rand upfront. This is beside the vet bill. Being the middle of the month not everyone has 1000 rand laying around. I even asked if there is anything I could do to assist my dog and the response I got was "sorry...you have to bring the dog in". Wheres their sense of humanity...are they not suppose to care ? Seems money comes first.

"Emergency vet" my foot! My dog was poisoned and I rushed him there but the "after hours emergency hospital" was closed! Tried all the numbers on the gate, the website and the net, no answer. No response to my hooting or desperate banging on the gate. Had to then go to Fourways Emergency Animal hospital (absolutely incredible people), but my boy passed away en route. Disgusting!

I have a miniature poodle who developed a severe discharge. i took her there and was also accused of being negligent. My regular vet told me its a common problem with the breed and she was sorted and healthy in a few days.
Last night I took my other puppy there as she had not eaten nor drank for two days. She was not in a good way. I was told I dont care about my animals bu the same arrogant "professional". He shoved a stick up her rear and demanded 1000.00 and would open the gate till I had paid. I went to Fourways....what a blessing. Caring, professional and thorough.
Please do NOT support this place, rather drive a bit further to Fourways - its worth every kilometre.

Sadly our beautiful, loving and gentle hearted, boisterous 11 year old puppy has passed away at 01:15 this morning. Can't believe how disgusting he and we were treated by the Westrand Emergency Clinic...
Sadly our beautiful, loving and gentle hearted, boisterous 11 year old puppy has passed away at 01:15 this morning. Can't believe how disgusting he and we were treated by the Westrand Emergency Clinic in Weltevreden Park. First they turned us away because we didn't have the full amount in cash as the price had gone up because we got there at 11pm and they literally accused us of being negligent pet owners - we know our dog, when his tummy is upset he gets lethargic and a bit constipated but then gets better, we thought the same this time hence why we didn't take him to vet earlier. I phoned every emergency vet in the west rand and they all went back to this place. When we returned with him already dying and the money, I had to fill out forms in the reception and they supposedly gave him an adrenaline shot to try get him recovered, then my son said they laughed when he passed on, we wouldn't believe it as he was still gasping for breath, so they then told us to get out the room and inserted a pipe in his mouth to try ventilate him. He was gone by 01:15. We are SO heart broken and hurt at losing our beloved boy, and what hurts most is the way they treated us and our best friend. Please do not support this place, they are heartless. I'm sure they gave him the euthanising drug instead.

My experience at WestRand was exceptionally positive - staff friendly and caring and the vet compassionate. I found the pricing reasonable for an after hurs vet facility and cannot complain about the treatment of my dog nor how my case was handled. Thank you Dr Tatenda for the care received!
