I've recently changed away from MBM Veterinary Kilmarnock after they've recently misdiagnosed my cat and jeopardised his health to a position that has resulted in him requiring three-weekly blood tests and constant adjustments to his medication dosage - all at full charge to myself. I came across this vet after registering my previous cat when I moved to Kilmarnock from Glasgow and they made a remark about how my previous vet was generous in that they prescribed 300 tablets per prescription, compared with only 180 that MBM would prescribe for the same price, despite my cat's condition being stable. My cat would become distressed and anxious and MBM were constantly unable to hold him, which required me to hold him whilst they administered vaccinations, although his previous vet practice were able to hold him safely and securely. They also seemed astonished whenever I would request a paper prescription to purchase his medications online rather than through their practice, which was three times the cost! With my current cat, his condition was stable after being rescued by SSPCA and spending several months in their care. After a couple of months in MBM's care following the advice given by the SSCPA's vet, MBM suddenly advised (by the practice director Mr McKenzie) that his medications were working too well giving him a blood level of 9, when the acceptable range is between 15-48. They adjusted his dosage and one month later, his blood level was now 468! After adjusting his medication back to the dosage it previously had been, his blood levels fell to 70 - still above the acceptable range. This required increased medications and my cat is now being subjected to a blood test every three weeks, all whilst MBM insist on full payment. Even more strangely, despite these concerns, each time my cat is taken he is seen by a different vet which requires me to re-explain previous outcomes or having to refer to the notes without building up knowledge by seeing the same single vet. After speaking with the practice director about my concerns, the outcome of the conversation was essentially "tough luck" and they don't work for free. I accept this, however my cat was fine until MBM began playing around with his medicine dosages and I firmly believe this practice is putting its commercial interests ahead of the wellbeing of my pet. Strangely enough, the prices fluctuate every time as well - it seems to depend on who you get and no one has any clear answers on this! I've had experience with other veterinary practices and never come across these kind of behaviours before. Time to change! Read Less

I can't recommend the MBM Veterinary Group highly enough. We took our very sick little Beagle in to the Vets Now emergency vets that use the MBM premises at night time. Rather than transfer a sick dog to her own vet the next morning (who was quite some distance away) we asked the MBM vets if they'd take care of her. They did a fabulous job. 24 hour expert care, superb facilities and staff that really cared about the pets in their care. Their fees are VERY reasonable! We'd been nervous about changing vet since moving from Glasgow 5 years ago. After this experience we had no hesitation in getting both of our dogs registered with MBM Vets. Highly recommended.
