Always a 5 star review for Oaks but especially the surgery in Saltcoats( its our local vet), always a 1st class service provided. we have just been in with our pregnant French bulldog, everything went great with Belle's pregnancy, as 1st time breeders they provided us with helpful advice and sometimes just reassurance when we had worries towards the end of the pregnancy. We brought Belle for her C-Section on the 30/12/16, delivering 6 beautiful puppies, honestly can't thank Jamie and the whole team enough for their professionalism and compassion. Can't wait to bring Belle and her puppies in to meet them! Read Less

I just want to thank the staff at your veterinary centre in Largs who were very supportive and comforting whilst my beagle ruby was put too sleep. She was only two and a hlaf years old and had suffered many siezures in a 12 hour period that she didnt even recognise any of the family. She had no sense of direction and what was once tge most friendliest dog you could ever meet was a shadow of her former self. Your staff made it a little easier for me and also put up with my crying an whaling as i was an emotional wreck. So thank you from myself and the family for giving Ruby your best care.Read Less

Sadly I have had to leave this review for a second time now after Oaks vets cleverly hid my 1st honest and open review from the view of others... My mums elderly cat (Tish) was taken in to Oaks vet at approximately 5.15 on Monday 10th October by a good samaritan who found her with 3 young girls who had lifted her from my mum's garden while my mum spent the afternoon visiting her father in hospital. Arriving home at 7.15 we immediately realised Tish was missing and set out searching for her and we were beyond relieved when we made contact with the woman who had found our lovely cat and taken her to Oaks vets in good faith that they'd care for her. Apallingly this was already too late as Oaks vets in their words "treated her as a stray" and euthenased Tish shortly after her arrival at the vets. They have told my mum since that she was meowing a lot and they deemed this to mean that she was in pain and that she lay in the corner of the crate which they said indicated she may have kidney disease so coupled with the "stray" claim they put her to sleep. I'm no vetenary expert but what I do know is Tish was wearing her usual flea collar when she was handed into Oaks surgery on Monday, and I'm sure we can agree that a cat with a collar is a cat with an owner. Tish was 21 years old and she was my cat as a child and over the 21 years I knew her I can confirm that she was a noisy girl who loved to meow, and I question any vet who decides a cat who is meowing is in pain so extreme that she must be euthenased with immediate effect!! Thirdly the suspicion that she had kidney disease surely can only be confirmed by blood test's and not by the behaviour of an old lady in an unfamiliar environment who wold have been understandably tired and anxious after the afternoon she had. The only thing that Tish did wrong was look like a scruffy old girl and end up in the hands of the wrong "vets" after she was taken from her garden. She was in fact a well loved pet and had been to Oaks vets often over the years, most recently last year where she was given a clean bill of health and my mum was told her bloods were fantastic for a cat of her age. My mum contacted the vet at 8.40am on Tuesday 11th desperate to get an update on her girl only to be told that she was had been put to sleep the previous evening by the vet, the very person we trust to care for our pets not betray them in their hour of need!!! Oaks vets tried to justify this as "the best interests of the cat" I don't think any animal having her life taken from her without the comfort of her owner and familiar smell's and home comforts is in her best interest when she is little more than an old lady who's had a bad day. Shame on you Oaks vets.Read Less

I moved to Saltcoats with work three months ago and bought a puppy to keep me company. I used Google to find a vets and this one looked nice. When I called for the first time the service I received was amazing so I felt pleased that I had chosen to go here. The first appointment we went to I think I was as nervous as my dog. We were greeted with a big smile and the girl on the desk said and this must be Teddy, without me saying a word, what an incredible welcome. The first vet we saw gave loads of great advice about food, insurance and even great payment plans to help with the ongoing cost that comes with owning a pet. Every time I have visited we have seen a different vet and have met other members of the team. What a great group of friendly professional people who provide an amazing service. I am sadly moving away again so went in this evening to get Teddy checked over and something to help him for the journey. Again amazing service from genuinely nice people. I got home and took teddies tablets out of my handbag and on the envelope the lovely lass had written " to be given to Teddy on the 20/8/16. Good luck with the new job! " WOW what an amazing touch. I really hope that I can find a practice as good as this where I am moving to. Thank you everyone at The Oaks from Teddy and Melanie xRead Less

I have been using this vet for several years with my dog and cat. The service I get is very personal and professional. Heather the receptionist is always genuinely interested in what my mischievous pair get up to! You can tell that she loves what she does as her job as No request has ever been too much and everytime I pop in to collect their flea and worming treatment she will always has the time to have a quick chat with me. Very friendly girl! Recently I have seen the younger male vet (Jamie) luckily just for routine boosters! He has ensured that they get treats while they are in and has given each of them the time and attention needed! I feel that they bend over backwards to get me seen and they have extended their usual hours to see me on a Friday evening after work. Talking to fellow dog walkers in the village i know that they do this often to try and suit the needs of their customers. What more can you ask of from our friendly helpful village vets.
