Unfortunately, a couple of weeks back I had to have my dog, Poko, put to sleep after being diagnosed with kidney failure. However, I can't thank the staff more for all they did for me and Poko, pulling out all the stops to try and extend his life, and make him feel comfortable. They not only gave the best treatment possible to Poko, but were very understanding of his nervousness in new surroundings, and were incredibly kind to me when it was discovered that his illness was terminal. I feel devastated by my visit to this vets on Monday. I took my poor little 10 year old bunny in who was clearly at the end of her old life and while I knew it was likely she would be put down I was terribly upset. The vet who 'looked after us' was cold and unfriendly, not even offering me a tissue while I sobbed in front of my 1 year old while he sat in his buggy. It was clear she felt no emotion for me or my rabbit. She told me the nurse would hold her as it as easier this way and disappeared out the back when she returned she handed me my carry case for the rabbit and said the receptionist would help me out but I could pay later if I wished, I hadn't even said goodbye I didn't realise she wasn't coming back and I wasn't even given the option of holding her or being there. I told the receptionist I didn't know I would see her again and she just said sorry, no offer of seeing her or comfort that she would at peace now.
