If I could put no stars I would. After 18 and a half years at Nine Mile Ride Veterinary we have made the easy decision to leave. With a catalyst of events happening over the years we have always stuck by Nine Mile Ride as our vets but a few days ago their lack of customer service reached an all time low. We have had 3 dogs at this vets over the years. Our gorgeous Newfoundland Nelly passed away over 2 weeks ago due to heart failure which was dealt brilliantly by Emily but unfortunately the after care was a total shambles. They sent our bill over via email which we had some queries regarding, so we sent an email to question this, a few days later we still hadn’t received a response. After receiving no response to our queries we had a voicemail from Abbie who told us our Nellys ashes were available to be collected and to come whenever we are ready. We went straight down to the vets to collect Nelly, and were greeted by Abbie who told us that we “could not have Nellys ashes until the bill was settled” this was something she did not express on the voicemail. We told Abbie that we were questioning the bill and had sent an email she proceeded to tell us again “unless the payment is made you will not receive Nellys ashes”. At this point they were holding our beloved dogs ashes to ransom. There would have been no issue with paying the bill if we had received answers to our questions, after going back and forth with Abbie outside in the rain we made the payment which would have also been a lot easier if they would deal directly with our insurance company another thing they do not do. The lack of empathy & humanity at Nine Mile Ride is shocking, even being loyal customers does not seem to matter to them. We did not receive a condolence card from them but a large animal hospital which we visited once with Nelly managed to send a beautiful condolence card & candle. Along with the above their reception & admin staff are appalling. One of the receptionists Tilly is so incompetent she cannot even get our surname right even though we are long standing customers. Admin issues are constant at Nine Mile & the lack of consistency and ability to carry out simple tasks is horrific... unless they want money from you then their admin skills seem to improve. Before Nellys death we requested to see her blood results because we wanted to get a second opinion this took 3 requests through 3 different people and unfortunately we only received these after Nelly had passed away. Nine Mile Ride has become a money making machine and they have lost empathy, tack & personal customer service. The only reason we ever stayed at this vets was due to Emily & Michael who are the only good thing to come out of Nine Mile Ride and the only reason we stayed as long as we did. It is such a shame for them that they’re stuck in an establishment like this. We could not recommend this vets, we have made the decision to move our Bernese Mountain dog to a different veterinary surgery and we are glad to have escaped the incompetence. Read Less

The vets and nurses have been looking after both my cats and currently my two elderly dogs for the last 25 years. Over that time they have all always had the best care given with kindness and compassion. The reception staff are also wonderful and are not only efficient but kind and caring too. They are all a wonderful team who work together in the best interests of their patients. Read Less

My large rescue mastiff had a ovariohysterectomy recently at the nine mile hospital. I was very impressed with the stitches and the wound has heald impeccably! Her post op recovery has been fast and fantastic and the nurses and reception were fantastic with post op care and helped me with lifting her in the correct way, for transportation! The vet also gave me an excellent after care consultation. They made me feel very reassured as it was one of the most nervous days of my life! The longest I have ever been away from my pooch, Hooch! I was kindly given a cup of tea and my nerves calmed while she was undergoing the procedure and updated on her progress making me feel at ease to leave the practice for a while to get a coffee. Me and hooch are eternally greatful for the treatment we both received! The practice manger is very kind and helpful. Thankyou everyone at the surgery . Fantastic service from the vets, called on Sunday morning in a panic as my 16 week old puppy had hurt his leg, took him in 10 mins later and they checked him over, got his xrays done and completed his major surgery all within 24 hours. They called throughout the day to give me an update. Couldn't have asked for a better service! Read Less

Nine mile is our vets out of hours vets. Unfortunately we have been to nine mile a lot in the recent months, they have an amazing tram. The care our animals have been given in their time of need is fantastic and I am comforted in the knowledge that they are in safe hands with nine mile. Read Less

I lost my cat last week - Everyone couldnt have done enough for me, especially Joey. I was devastated but know that everything was done for my little man, everyone seem to be there rushing around. Quoted £500.00 to remove a cyst from the neck of a feral cat we adopted. Found prices online from £140.00 for 2 visits and an overnight for the same job. Think they are preying on owners feelings for their pets. Will find somewhere else to go which is a shame since they are my local get. Read Less

They are skilled, professional and supportive. They even provide a pet taxi service. They accommodated my rabbit for several days (6!) so that she didn't have to go back and forth to my fleet practice. This meant taking up a 'bed' when they might have had even more of an emergency. They are ethical and the priority is the patient not the payment. They try to keep costs down by not keeping the pet longer than they have to. Thanks to the vet Vito for his understanding and expertise, nurses claire and Alice for syringe feeding daisy. It gives me peace of mind when they can take the burden off me. Our little springer spaniel was taken to the hospital on 5th February for what, we thought, was a straight forward few stitches to a cut she had which turned out to be so deep that the vet could see a main artery pulsating whilst operating on her. Thanks to George, the vet, and the good work he did on cleaning and stitching the wound, she has had no infections or after effects. Tomorrow her lampshade can come off and she can be let off the lead for the first time in nearly 3 weeks so thank you George and the nurse that helped you on that Sunday. Our wonderful Toby, a lab collie cross, died early Sunday morning. We have literally just moved to the area and his first appointment was due this Friday. Nevertheless, they answered our call and prepared to take him immediately, despite the time. When I got there the lady was very helpful and sympathetic. Was charged for a consultation for my baby rabbits to have them sexed and health checked. When there was told it's still could be too early to sex them, even though this is what the appointment was for a discussed on the phone. No health check whatsoever. I can't praise these guys highly enough: they were absolutely incredible when my cat Gryff was a very poorly boy indeed. All of the staff were kind, knowledgeable and incredibly patient - both with us and Gryff, who wasn't exactly a model patient. Highly recommended. Read Less

All the staff are fantastic. Molly our greyhound loves to pop in to say hello and they all make a fuss of her. On Wednesday 20/07/16 she went in to have 17 teeth removed, no mean feat for a 12 year old, Emily and the rest of the staff looked after her overnight. I am pleased to say she is recovering well. The team at Nine Mile are AMAZING! I literally could go on all day about how great the staff here are, especially Emily who's been looking after our cat who was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour back in 2014 and given two weeks to live. Emily worked miracles and went above and beyond to find us some help (she literally rang round all the UK & America to find someone with experience in her type of cancer) and managed to find a treatment that has kept her stable and happy for 2 years! Yesterday Evely had an op at nine mile to see if the tumour could be removed yet and Duncan somehow managed to work miracles and remove it! I literally can't recommend Nine Mile enough all the staff are so friendly and so good at their jobs and they always go out of their way to help. Read Less

Very expensive and wanted to do numerous tests and procedures on our very old sick cat, then got a little off when we said no as it would not help her and she would get very upset! It maybe okay if you have high treatment insurance but if like us you struggle to find money for vet treatment this practice does not seem to care or understand. We did find an amazing practice in Woodley who did understand and listened to us and when the time came to say goodbye to our beautiful little cat were sweet and understanding. Read Less

We recently moved to the area and went to Nine Mile Vets on a recommendation from our new neighbours. Choosing a new vets was a big concern for us as we had a strong bond with our previous surgery in Dorset. We were very happy with the service we received. The staff were very welcoming and the practice had a friendly atomsphere. The vet we saw was lovely with our dog and she seemed very knowlegeable! It's also reassurring to know that the practice is staffed 24hrs a day unlike many others in the area. I would certainly recommend them! Read Less
