Absolutely disgusted by the aftercare from this vet. They're quick to take your money and operate, scan and inject but will not give you the courtesy of a conversation. The head vet refuses to come out to see you at home or at your rehab facility, so you have to take the horse in, wait for hours for them to examine, give you another set of printed instructions and a massive bill. They're all about money and don't care for the horses at all. Avoid. Read Less

I am not surprised to see negative reviews on here. I am utterly distressed and appalled by the service provided by Chiltern. Never in my days have I witnessed such bad administrative service. Twice I booked a vet to come out to be told by reception that a Wednesday is our areas free call out day. Twice I have now been charged for call out despite it being the ‘free call out day for my area’. The second time they even had the cheek to say it’s because I rang a second time to request a certain vet, well I definitely didn’t ring a second time and my call records can prove it! And they charged me for an examination (which I can only assume is to do with the fact I asked if the vet could check my horses two front teeth as the dentist suspected root decay) even though the vet lifted my horses top lip up and told my partner who was present that an examination was not needed. I cannot stress enough, please DO NOT use Chiltern they are dishonest about their fees and will do anything to make a quick buck. Read Less

As others said my horse was misdiagnose 2 years running I was told it was just asthma. Vet came out with stethoscope after i gave the symptoms being shown( footy/ tripping/ no energy/ depressed ) all he did was listen to breathing and prescribe ventapulmin . ( The following year arround the same time same thing and ventapulmin VET NEVER THOUGHT TO CHECK FEET!!!!!! 5 weeks later on same diet horse went lame . DUHHHH vet checked feet laminitis . I lost my treasured horse as it went bad. Don't recommend at all Update: What is the point of investigating when my horse is dead now, maybe if more of the time is spent with the clients, and remembering who they are instead of us being a £ sign with no face, so many would would not leave and go to other vets where they have time for the client and their had horse. and remember who they are. Checking feet should be simple for a vet to do given all the symptoms. It's about £££ how they can become the biggest and over shine all other vet practices and supporting all the stupid ponies the owners kid has who goes through ponies like socks. We do not want anything to do with a practice who care more about the equipment they can buy than the client as seen by many reviews here Read Less

I don't have anything good to say I'm afraid. My daughter's horse had colic, we phoned through on an emergency and was told the vet would be with us in 20-30 minutes, some nearly 3 hours later and 5 calls vet arrived. They hid in a web of lies making out they were on other emergencies, fact was they were so greedy trying to fit in all the calls that our poor horse was bottom of the pile. He died and we were utterly devastated. One of the nurses told us the truth about the balls up, what could we do, it would never bring him back. Take it from me, they are greedy and only interested in making money and bank rolling Sarah Randalls kid's jumping ponies. Simply put Chiltern have lost the personal touch. No wonder they have such a high vet turnover. We now have Hampden vets, honest, upfront and much cheaper too! Yes in response to the owners reply you had the horse registered under my daughters name. A complaint was made to you directly for which you failed to respond. Now I have posted a review you respond within 24 hours. You are six months too late. Her horse is no longer with us. Read Less

I have been using this vets practise for many years and can't recommend them highly enough. They were spot on with my old horse as he went through the ageing process and between us he was kept fit, healthy and competing until he was 26 years old!! Last year they vetted my new horse and have since done a grand job with him when he unfortunately sustained a kick in the field a few months ago. The practise offers all of the latest technology in veterinary care and it's all delivered in a very professional manner. The girls in the office have also been great and dealt with all of the insurance queries and issues in a timely manner. Definitely a big thumbs up from me and my horses!! Read Less

They are good for everyday checkup's etc, however they have been short staffed for a while, over a month, and we just happened to need an emergency call out. Was advised it would be maximum of 35 minutes, but instead took around 1hr15mins, and 5+ calls to chase up. Was told the vet was 5 minutes away 20 minutes before they showed up. Upon writing to them to complain about the response time, we get an aggressive response back. I am appalled with the treatment during an emergency, and afterwards. Would recommend staying clear of them for emergency call outs! Read Less
