on 27th July my dog started limping, we didn't think too much of it as he's got lazy in his old age and thought he had just seized a little (he's nearly 9) by Friday the 30th he couldn't sit up straight, he couldn't get comfortable and was crying when he was moving. We called the vets who said they couldn't see him till Monday 2nd August, so to keep him comfortable through the weekend we ordered CBD. He slept..ALOT! And by Monday he seemed a bit perkier but still limping and crying on and off. We took him to the vets at 5:30, they spent less than 2 minutes with him and we were told there was absolutely nothing wrong with him as he was able to cock his leg and he was just over weight and to put him on a diet. By 2am he needed to be rushed to an emergency vet as he couldn't move and was quite clearly in a lot of pain. The emergency vet at VetsNow Northampton was fantastic, said he could tell just by the way he walked that he had some sort of issue with his spine/bacl legs but it was nothing to do with his weight and the very least our vet should have done was prescribe pain killers and xray him....this vet spent 45 minutes with Buster doing a very thorough examination. Fast forward to 4th August...Buster went in for xrays with midsummer vet after a referral from the emergency vet and he has been diagnosed with spondylosis in his lower spine, discs problems in his neck and arthritis in his elbow.....impressive for a dog that had absolutely nothing wrong with him a few days before 🙄 Apparently the only thing causing pain is the discs....but he doesn't need pain relief. The spondylosis needs absolutely no treatment but they gave him 5 days worth of steroids just for the sake of it because apparently after 5 days steroids don't work, we were told "he can't have steroids in the evening, only in the morning. Give him 2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening" ...at this point I'm fairly sure they have no clue what they are talking about 🤦‍♀️ During our consultation the vet Dexter walked off mid conversation to get some guitar strings off his friend in the car park, he then completely disappeared before the consultation had ended. When we confronted him about his misdiagnosis on Monday and his completely lack of interest in our consultation he completely denied saying there was nothing wrong, even said that the cause of his problems was my fault for giving him CBD even though he didn't start it until 4 days AFTER his problems started. In the end he gave a number of excuses... "Well if your dog wasn't so fat he wouldn't have any problems" "your dog didn't slip his discs until after I saw him monday" "what happens after his leaves my surgery is not my problem" "I didn't pick up on the problem because you bought him in after 5pm" "he must of had a reaction to the CBD to cause all of this"....the excuses went on. In the end they wavered the vet bill as we had complained about the lack of service and care BUT they are now refusing to share my dogs history with anyone as we "refused to pay the bill" even though he needs pain relief ASAP! absolutely horrendous!!! I would never ever return to this so called vets even to get a stuffed cuddly toy reviewed? I sadly entrusted this vets to care for my well loved cat, however despite 3 visits in a space of 6 weeks my cat deteriorated due to lack of communication on their part and lack of understanding on my part as i had not been advised about renal failure in cats and signs to be aware of. He became blind suddenly, and when they reviewed him on 1st visit, he had high blood pressure i was told he would never see again due to detached retinas in both eyes. They saw him again twice to do blood pressure readings and supposedly a repeat urinalysis which they felt it not to be important enough in the end to do depsite ringing me and informing me the one i took was very abnormal. The last visit i new i would never go back. Dexter the vet i never actually spoke to him, despite asking for him to look into the cats eyes as i felt he could see, evetually he did, after asking at least 4 times on the 2nd visit, he could see, but is was not the arrogant vet who told me, no he charged me for it 30 pound but never acutally spoke to me, he assummed everything, never took the time to talk to me.I took my cat to a PROPER vets one that is trained, as he became more unwell, off his food vomiting and diagnosed with chronic renal failure and given a week to live. He had been at Midsummer vets just 10days earlier?? He did survive a few months, but has since had to be put to sleep, but had wonderful care from the 2nd vets who were excellent. I have complained and sought mediation however, the vet feels not responsibility what so ever, how caing is that....................... please if you love your pet and want to have good care then AVOID this vets and go somewhere where vets speak to you, care for you and your pet, have empathy and understanding, because this vets HAVE NONE OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely disgusting service from start to finish. Repeatedly mistook my cats gender for a girl even though it was a boy, the vet that actually tended to my Cat 'Dexter' showed absolutely no compassion to the fact that he was in pain, dropping him on the table, grabbing his scruff through his yelps and at one point when he was near the end of his life pinched his spinal cord creating a reflex whilst saying 'See the movement is still there but he is completely brain dead' & then poked his eye to show no reaction. I actually had to say to him quite sternly, 'Can you stop being so rough' to which point he seemed to of actually reacted and realized he was handling a 13 year old member of our family and not a rag doll. All in all I found that he has obviously 'Been in it to long' and no longer cares about the animals he tends to, I believe him to actually be the owner of the practice as he has been there for so long and if this is the case I would urge all to stay away as this is obviously their standard to which they handle the sick animals they take it. I have now moved all of my pets to another practice just around the corner in Old Stratford which is absolutely lovely & caring to all pets I have seen them with (Mine included) and they have in fact carried out some surgeries since and have been incredible from start to finish, keeping up to date throughout the day, groomed&taken care of them properly throughout the day and made sure that everything is done within time span quoted and for the price quoted to boot.Read Less
