It is not easy to publish my comments but I am so disappointed with Barnhouse Vets I have to make everyone aware . I have been a loyal customer and spent a large amount of money over the past 18 months My little westie dog was found seriously ill at home and my wife phoned the surgery for emergency assistance this was approx 18.20 hours only to be told the surgery was closing in 10 mins and we would have to take our little dog to Chester Gates Hospital . On arrival we where told she had suffered a cardiac arrest and died shortly after. Because of the extra 20 mins journey time this could have made a difference between life or death Why could you not have waited 5 mins it could have made a difference I will never know. Very disappointed. Ian and Dawn Black Tilly West Highland Terrier 9 years old Read Less

After my 20 year old cat had a stroke overnight, a quick call to the surgery to request a home visit was met with a courteous and professional request for details as to the problem - when I said that it might be to put my cat to sleep I was informed of the time the vet would arrive. Tony (who has dealt with all of our most recent cats needs,) arrived early with (I think) Kate the veterinary nurse. A quick examination by Tony confirmed that putting to sleep was the best option and as with our previous cat, Tony made sure that our cat was comfortable and stress free and once the injection was done kindly offered to help me bury our cat (which I declined) - what always touches me about dealing with Barnhouse is how much they truly and genuinely care for each animal and owner - we must have been using the surgery for well over 5 or 6 years (maybe longer,) and every cat we have taken to the surgery has been dealt with in such a genuine, caring, unique way - and we have always been dealt with in a friendly, professional and genuine way - it's why am looking to complete a veterinary nurse course myself so that I can give back to someone else what they have provided to me - care, attention and time to much beloved pets. I can't thank the surgery enough for their kindness even at such sad times as putting to sleep a much beloved family pet. (Sorry it's so long but it needed saying.) Read Less
