Bond Street Veterinary Clinic

General Info
Bond Street Veterinary Clinic started life in 1963 when David Hopkins started practising as a veterinary surgeon in the property opposite our present site at the intersection of Bond Street and Park Lane.
James and Susan McCance bought the practice from Mr Hopkins in 1993. Our customer base grew strongly due to our belief that animal and customer care must come first. This growth enabled us to make two important changes;
Firstly, we dedicated our service entirely to companion animals which helps keep our level of service and expertise up to date.
Secondly, in 2000, we were able to move across the road to our present site on Ryles Park Road and develop our present day purpose built premises with ample parking on-site.
Jonathan Harper joined the practice at this time, becoming a partner in 2003.
We provide a high level of clinical care in a friendly, personal manner. Although we now have four full-time and three part-time veterinary surgeons, we always make sure, where possible, you see the particular vet you prefer, or who is dealing with the case.
Our nursing staff are either fully qualified members of the Royal College of Veterinary Nurses or are training to become qualified. Our reception staff are trained to help you and will always find you an appointment if necessary even when the lists are full.
Our out of hours service is provided by VetsNow a leading emergency and critical care specialist.
Indeed we now have visiting consultants coming in to the practice so many referrals can be done in-house.
We enjoy meeting pets and people and hope this will make your visit a pleasure!

Unprofessional, uncaring and unethical veterinary practice. James McCance was negligent when he prescribed medication for our cat without informed consent which led to her death.
We raised our concerns with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) who carried out an investigation during which James McCance lied about what happened during our consultation. The RCVS concluded that it was not possible to determine whether or not the medication contributed to our cat going into renal failure. This vet is not fit to practice and does not operate within the code of professional conduct for veterinary surgeons.

My dog came in for an operation, they assumed he would be aggressive because of his breed and met us with a muzzle and two staff. They laughed when they met him because he is very soft and a bit timid...
My dog came in for an operation, they assumed he would be aggressive because of his breed and met us with a muzzle and two staff. They laughed when they met him because he is very soft and a bit timid, this was not his usual vet. The vet criticised me for not using a slip lead and instead using a usual lead with clip. I was questioned and criticised because he is from abroad and they already have his records to show this. The vet said he gets his as rescue here, as thought this is what I should of done. I was told he would have dissolvable stitches and the vet did not and instead used ones that require a further visit. The cut was far greater than expected and the response was that I should have known this. It was overall not a pleasant experience at a time where my only priority was my best buddy and that he had had an operation.

A massive thank you to James and his team for saving our dog's life. We've only been in Macclesfield a few months but have taken both our dogs to Bond Street, and have been really impressed with them generally, all the staff are friendly and helpful, and the toys/books in the waiting area help with an impatient toddler! We've just got our Mastiff home after a bowel entrapment nearly killed him, and the prompt and skilled response of the vets (plus Freddie being a ridiculously tough cookie!) are the reason he's come home with us today. We can't thank you enough, we really didn't think he'd make it, you're superstars.

I always feel so well looked after at Bond St. In particular Suzanne (Vet), Fiona (Vet), Nat (Reception) and Laura (Vet Nurse) are fab. They are always so lovely and caring with my dog Tilly, who first went in as a rescue 4 years ago and they saved her from a nasty infection. The whole team are informative and explain treatment options really clearly and concisely. No one likes to have to take their pet to the vets but at Bond St I feel safe in the knowledge that they really care about my dog and they want what's best for her, just like me. Thank you lovely people!

We have just lost our beloved cat Tigga and the care all the staff at Bond Street have given us over the last three weeks has been so amazing. in particular Fiona Clegg who is always professional and explains everything clearly but in a very caring way as well. My husband and son took Tigga to be put to sleep on Sunday, a very tough decision, and James McCance was so sympathetic and reassured us we were doing the right thing in such a caring way. Thank you so much for helping us through this very sad time - we have also have been going to Bond Street Veterinary Practice for over thirty years and have always received excellent care.

Have been with Bond St Vets since they were over the road 40 years ago. I have had dogs, cats, budgies, canaries, gerbils, rabbits and rats who have all been looked after by Bond St over the years. I have even been met at the surgery late at night on a Saturday with a poorly rat - every animal is important to them. The level of service, advice and care is second to none. Highly recommended!

My husband and I took our little guinea pigs (and my piggies before them) to bond Street throughout their short lives. The care they received was excellent and the staff always treated us fairly and sensitively. We were especially grateful to the vet James who kindly came in from home on a bank holiday to see our very poorly piggie who we sadly had put to sleep. He treated us all wonderfully and helped me through a very upsetting experience. We were not once made to feel like our animals mattered any less because they weren't a cat or a dog! Couldn't recommend enough!

I called in last Wednesday because my dog had a poorly eye, I was in bits but the vet saw him straight away treated him and I am happy to say his eye is lots better and he got the ok at his checkup, the vet seemed happy with his profess but did say she was worried about it when I first brought him in. I just want to say thank you for the 1st class service my dog received :-)

My husband and I took our little guinea pigs (and my piggies before them) to bond Street throughout their short lives. The care they received was excellent and the staff always treated us fairly and sensitively. We were especially grateful to the vet James who kindly came in from home on a bank holiday to see our very poorly piggie who we sadly had put to sleep. He treated us all wonderfully and helped me through a very upsetting experience. We were not once made to feel like our animals mattered any less because they weren't a cat or a dog! Couldn't recommend enough!
