Tried to see a vet out of hours due to a cat being lifeless, in lots of pain, urinating blood and having thrown up all over herself. Was told that the cat is out of area for them to see her. Not sure why the area would matter as we would have obviously taken the cat to them and paid for any consultation and meds. Wasn't even directed to another vet who would have helped us. Ended up near Bury which was miles further away! Absolutely disgusting service from Woodcroft who showed no compassion for a very poorly cat. She is now doing fine after thankfully seeing a proper vet and not these idiots! Read Less

My poor cat was sadly hit by a car earlier this week and taken to this surgery where the best possible care was taken of him until we arrived. Sadly Oscar was put to sleep as he was in a bad way and it was the kindest thing to do for him. Helen the vet was amazing, she was so understanding and let us take as long as we needed. I find the constant upselling to be very difficult. Having recently moved from a veterinary practice that was too far to travel to we had high expectations and were looking forward to being connected to a vets that would be able to provide the level of care we are keen for our animals to have. On one visit we were made to feel as though we would be neglecting our dog if we did not buy the flea treatments Woodcroft recommend. Despite advising I already have flea treatment left from the old vet, at the time I was made to feel as though it was inadequate and on reflection I am annoyed I allowed myself to be talked into buying. I would have quite happily made the purchase without feeling pressured into doing so once the treatments I already had were finished. This also happened with the boosters. On another occasion, as a proper investigation was not carried out we had to return - not only purchasing more treatments and another consultation cost, but our poor dog had to suffer for longer than was necessary. My Mum's cat, Fifi, unfortunately had to be euthanised this evening. Woodcroft isn't her registered vet, but was recommended by Greenbank as the emergency practice. I'm sorry I don't know the vet's name but he was informative and sensitive to the obvious trauma of the cat and my mums emotions. She was euthanised while sat on my mum's lap and in the circumstances, I can't think of a more peaceful way to go. There wasn't time or sufficient emotional energy at the time to say thank you, so I thought I'd say thank you now for the empathic, informed and sensitive manner in which Fifi was treated. Read Less

I have a 12 year old cat and have been a client of Woodcroft vets for around 10 years. During that time I have received wonderful service from all aspects of the Woodcroft team. My cat has a heart condition and was referred to their cardiologist Jane who is absolutely wonderful with Rio and so caring. More recently he has needed to be referred to the internal medicine vet Donald who was also very caring and explained things to me very well. My cat doesn't like the vets at the best of times and it was so reassuring to know that I didn't have to travel to an unknown vets with him as Woodcroft had their own referral vets. Having four cats (yes I know, FOUR cats) I often have to come to the vets for various ailments. Woodcroft are great, they have vet centres all over south manchester areas (Cheadle hulme, Cheadle, offerton, handforth, Bramhall etc.) and their service is always brilliant. They are available 24 hours a day, but also have weekend appointments at their usual weekday price at their new site on councillor lane, Cheadle. We frequently visit for the smaller day to day problems such as infections etc. And they always provide the best care for the animal with check ups if necessary. They also offer free appointments for things such as tick removal etc.On a few occasions we have had to deal with more serious problems, on a couple of occasions we had to have our pets put down. Woodcroft always handle this situation well and are always looking out for the best interests of the animal.Another of our cats was run over two years ago and survived although his leg was shattered. The care we received for him was brilliant and he is now back to normal climbing trees and running around with the other cats, which at the time we thought would never happen! The staff at woodcroft are great, very friendly and full of advice. Their facilities are brilliant and their prices are low for the service you get. No other vet compares! Read Less

On another occasion, as a proper investigation was not carried out we had to return - not only purchasing more treatments and another consultation cost, but our poor dog had to suffer for longer than was necessary. That said the staff are lovely and very good with the animals. Just a shame they seem to be on commission.Read Less

Went in and out 700 to put my kitten down and did pointless tests that they didn't need to do as they knew what was wrong waste of money!

Early hours Monday our just turned 9 year old boxer Amber was admitted at the emergency hospital in Cheadle, she has just come home tonight, we can't thank the staff enough who have cared for her, and the vets Dave and I think Vicky? Who admitted her and put us at ease as we were distressed. Big thanks to Liam who has looked after her for her cardiac issues and patiently explained all her X-rays, ecg's and scans to us, sadly it's not the outcome we were expecting but she's now much better and home with us, thankyou allRead Less

Read Less

Fantastic first experience at the Heaton Moor practice this week! Was apprehensive about taking our dog to the vet for the first time but was immediately put at ease by the staff. The vet was so friendly and really brilliant with our little lady, answered all our questions and I was surprised at value for money for the medicine and check up too- would definitely recommend! Everyone from the receptionists to the vets make you feel really at ease and I just couldn't imagine taking my baby anywhere else. Thank you Woodcroft! Read Less

Read Less
