This surgery nearly cost the life of our pet with sheer neglect after a £700 dental procedure. Two days after treatment I called the surgery my dog was vomiting, drinking constantly and passing blood. The gruff unpleasant receptionist informed me ( vet says Loxicom must be upsetting his stomach, leave him until after the weekend). I was told LOXICOM WAS EQUIVALENT IF BABY CALPOL. By evening he was failing, rushed to emergency VETS NOW who stabilised him but needed to be taken by pet ambulance the next day to Wear Refferals for 8 days. They saved him, cliffton Lodge never even called to ask if he had survived until I complained for a second time. I have used this surgery for 8 years, it is dreadful since the retirement of Peter Smith. Very uncaring and awful cold manner from the Vets. If we had taken THEIR EXPERT ADVICE our little boy would be no longer here. Avoid thus surgery like the plague, And have a huge money reserve ready if you take their ADVICE. Read Less

This vet dispensed two vials of insulin which were 4 months out if date for our wonderful, fun-loving little man Chino. Unfortunately, we were unaware of this unforgiveable action at the time and administered a complete vial over two weeks. We couldnt understand why Chino suddenly became incredibly poorly with diarhhoea, vomitting and that he started to urinate in the home. We visited the vet that week and were so desperately upset and worried fo Chino that we even considered euthanasia, we were so upset to see him sufferering. The vet treated Chino for possible gastroenteritisis, which was one week into receiving the out of date insulin.
Just days later when we realised about the insulin error, I reported this to a senior vet.
Sadly, less than three weeks later, Chino deteriorated rapidly. He suddenly couldn't see properly, if at all, and was obviously in pain and very distressed. The vet agreed his quality of life was affected and we decided to let our beautiful boy go.
After numerous emails and pathetic excuses from this practice, including complaints about Chino's prior treatments involving repeated use of steroids for allergy complaints which I believe contributed to Chino contracting diabetes (a fact both the RCVS and this practice admit via correspondence cannot 100 per cent rule out) I followed up my complaints with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Unsurprisingly, my complaints were dismissed and this practice has suffered no consequences for its actions. Despite asking the vet to arbitrate via the VCMS to discuss the case they have refused. The senior vet director has repeatedly refused to answer whether any member of staff would administer any drug that is four months out of date, let alone insulin. The have also never responded to the fact that its against the law to administer an out of date medicine. Read Less
