I have had a couple of very bad experiences using this practice. First one was very upsetting, even now despite that quite some time has passed since. My pet rat unavoidably died, due to old age and an infection which is very common among them. I don't blame the vet in any way. At the time, I rang the practice to make arrangements after his death and the person I have spoken to at the reception has been very callous in this already difficult time. She has spoken to me as if they were disposing of vermin for me. It wasn't until I started crying, she has realized the error of her approach and apologized. Despite, I had went back there, because Sarah Holmes is a great vet and I couldn't fault her care. My second bad experience occurred when I took my dog for a treatment. At the time I was seen by Fiona Murphy. She was introduced as a specialist in dog behavior. We entered the room and he has not been given a chance to settle, before Fiona wanted to get started. He has a history of abuse and tends to be very uneasy in unfamiliar environments. Especially if they smell like lots of other scared dogs. Fiona grabbed him and forcefully attempted to hold him still. He tried his best to wriggle out of her grip. He is not aggressive, when he is scared he cowers and runs away. Doesn't even bark. Because she could not keep his still enough, she impatiently suggested that he could really benefit from training, she said that if this continues she will have to sedate him. She seemed more interested in trying to control him, rather then spend a few minutes to get to know him and make him more at ease.This experience has been damaging for him and his confidence, which took me so long to rebuild. Now that Holmes and Murphy is just Murphy & Co. I will not go back there again. Read Less

Could not give enough praise to Sarah & Helen and all the staff at Holmes & Murphy over the last couple of days over the Christmas Holiday period our beloved Saffi the Doberman has received nothing but 5* treatment we are not regular customers as visiting our parents for Christmas when she fell very ill, staying 2 days in their extremely capable but also loving care, the utmost respect for this practice we could not have asked for any more, attentive and sensitive people made us feel so at home. I trust my own vets implicitly and the care and respect our whole family were shown is testament to this practice my sincerest thanks to the whole team. Read Less

Sadly, we've had to have both of our dogs, Phoebe and Sam put down by Holmes and Murphy but as heartbreaking as it was the staff we're unbelievably understanding and supportive and we couldn't ask for a better veterinary service; thank you so much Emma and the rest of the staff for all your hard work and help over the past couple of years. Badger fell ill on holiday in Snowdonia...his favourite place for holidays! We found Holmes & Murphy through the Google reviews and bypassed many more local vets to bring him to Llandudno. We were absolutely right to do so. I cannot recommend them highly enough. We wanted to thank Sarah Holmes, and everyone at Holmes & Murphy, for all they've done for Badger and us and to recommend the practice to anyone living or holidaying in North Wales. I had an eye operation with a different vet in Congleton. The stitches failed while on holiday in Llandudno. I cannot believe how lucky I was to find Sarah and the Holmes & Murphy staff and nurses to sort me out. Not only did she find the time to care for me and repair the damage caused by the failure, but I got loads of love and attention all week. I've been back (86 miles) for follow up care and now I'm OK. I don't have to go back to my old vet now and I'm very happy about that. Read Less

Excellent vets, we have just transferred here from a more local surgery but definately worth the extra 10 minutes travel time. We met with Fiona Murphy, who from the start was in a completely different league to other vets we have seen with an ongoing issue with our cat jasper. Very helpfull, knowledgable and we felt like she had all the time in the world for him, giving him the care he has been needing with his issue and a few other things too she noticed during a general check up, again that had been missed or not bothered with elsewhere. Aswell as excellent care, the service was fantastic, the appointment was met on time, the girls at the front were happy, polite and helpfull. The premises are large, clean and modern. Overall I highly rate the service provided and feel a great relief knowing we have found such a great place for our pet should he need them. Read Less

My cat had to go in for an eye operation recently and I was very pleased with the caring service we received from everyone at Holmes & Murphy, especially Sarah who took the time to explain all treatment and why it was needed. Our kitty has been much happier since her operation. I wouldn't let anyone else treat any of our animals in the future. Read Less
