I have been with the vet for several years and always used it. It has been OK I suppose but I am disgusted by their prices and the way that I have been ripped off time and time again especially last year when having cat flu and breathing difficulties I brought my cat to this vet. That was June of last year. Last June I was horrified when the vet said if the cat did not get better then it was time to start thinking of putting it to sleep. That left me very upset. But I was optimistic that my cat would recover as they gave her an antibiotic injection and a steroid. They also sold me sachets of Bisolvin which is a powder that you mix with the cat food and it helps the cats breathing and helps them recover. If it wasn't bad enough I had to pay nearly £100 for this they kept selling me sachets of Bisolvin regularly for my cat. I was constantly ripped off as they charged me over £10 for a small sachet. The same thing can be bought easily online for a couple of pounds. I am very angry that they ripped me off time and time again but I was thankful that my cat Princess recovered and got better. If thats not bad enough earlier on this year they rang me to remind me that it was time that my cat had to have its annual injection. It was my business when to have the injection and nothing to do with the vet. I could tell they were after my money! My cat recovered and was alot better until recently when she had breathing problems again. So once again last Friday I decided to take my cat Princess to the vet. I did and was told that the cat flu had returned and she was poorly. Of course the same thing happened again. Anti Biotic and steroid and sachet of Bosolvin for her breathing. The vet said that Princess would be OK now and after the sachet of Bisolvin had finished give them a ring and tell them how Princess was. Little did I know that whatever they gave her probably pushed her over the edge as to what happened the following day. Saturday morning my cat Princess could hardly breathe or swallow and was sick. I took her to the vet asap on Saturday morning and expected them to give her something to make her better. Totally the opposite. The vet took her indoors and said she was very poorly and I had two choices. One to put her into hospital and they would see about getting her better. The other choice was to put her to sleep. After ringing several people I decided that it was time to put her to sleep to stop her from suffering. I left the vet very very upset and sad that after 14 years of having Princess of keeping me company as being a friend and good company I was so very sad that it was time to say Goodbye. I went home upset and sad that she had gone to the great cat heaven in the sky. But I was disappointed with the vets attitude that after 14 years it was time to put her to sleep. I was not only disappointed and sad but angry as the day before when I brought Princess to the vet they told me that she was OK after the anti biotic and steroid. I was also looking forward to giving her the Bisolvin. Unfortunately she did not survive for the Bisolvin. I was so very very angry that the night before they told me that Princess would be OK and the next day she was DEAD. I feel very let down by this vet in they way that I feel that they killed her. Maybe if I did not bring her there on the Friday night she might still be alive. I feel that they killed her. If that was not bad enough on Monday afternoon I went to Clifton Villas vets to collect my cat basket. They had the cheek to not only return my basket but to give me a bill for £150. I am disgusted about their poor attitude towards me and on how they dealt with the matter of Princess - my cat. I am so disgusted that on the Friday night they said she would be "OK" after charging me £104 by giving her the anti-biotic and steroid and selling me a sachet of Bisolvin. And on the Saturday morning she had to be put to sleep. And if that was not bad enough they bill me for £150. So Clifton Villas are charging me £104 to supposedly make her better but did not and the next day after putting her to sleep charge me another £150. I paid the £104 to make her better but why should I have to pay £150 to put her to sleep and the night before they said that they would make her better. I am furious that they are charging me £250 to make my cat better and the next day to kill her. I wrote to them complaining and all they did was send me a sympathy card with a packet of sunflower seeds. This is very very poor for a vet practice who supposedly had made my cat better and the next day put her to sleep. I am so very very angry and disappointed. They want this money from me and where is my cat? Cremated! I have no cat now and sad and alone and feel I have lost my friend and my company. 14 years ago I got Princess from the cat protection place for company as my Mother had just passed away. She was company for me and was a good friend and company for 14 years. Now she has gone and where is my company? Dead thanks to Clifton Villas vet practice and the vets there. I returned the sachet of Bisolvin and expected a refund but after taking the sachet got nothing! I did not get a sorry that Princess had gone. I got a bill and my cat basket returned. Now all they can do is send me a card and a sachet of Sunflower seeds!. Is that going to bring my cat Princess back? Did I get a refund of £104 what they billed me for for supposedly making her better? I got nothing! And I am very very angry in the way that I have been treated. And all I get is a card and packet of sunflower seeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am disappointed with Clifton Villas and very very angry. No cat and I feel as if I have lost my friend and my company that I have had for 14 years. I got Princess for company after my Mother passed away and she was good company for 14 years. But did I expect to lose my company and be alone thanks to Clifton Villas and whats more be billed ? NO I did not. I am taking this very lightly and am very very angry with them. Read Less

Have been registered with this practice for some time, but do not use very often because of the incredibly high prices. Needed to get some medication for our ten year old westie for his ears. I had already done some research on line and was confident that he needed an antibiotic for a bacterial infection. The vet from Truro rang me and the call lasted about five minutes. she said that she would organise the medication and then told me the price. Ear wash drops £25.13, Ear drops £25.01 and a consultation fee of £32.50 Total £82.64. When I said that this was extortionate she said that CVS set the prices and she had no control over them. I know that the vet fees are off the scale, but this is just profiteering at the customers expense. If you look at the consultation charge it means that they are charging £390.00 per hour for talking to you on the phone. Told her I was not prepared to pay such an outrageous charge and she gave me the e-mail of Samuel Pawson the Clinical director. Then got a phone call from the Newquay branch to say that if I wanted the medication then I would have to pay what they wanted. I refused and a short time later Samuel Pawson rang me and I again explained that the charges were just morally wrong. The bottom line to this conversation was "If you don't like the prices go somewhere else". I also asked about getting a prescription so I could at least buy the medicine without the incredible mark up they put on, but this would cost me £18.00 just for a piece of paper. They do this to stop you shopping around. I had no alternative but to pay what they wanted in order to try to fix the problem with my dog, as I can not switch vets due to the lockdown. This is not a private local practice it is owned and run by CVS UK who have at least 500 vets practices. The buying power they have is huge, yet they still mark up the products by incredible amounts. The vet I spoke to did not tell me that the earwash she prescribed was available online for £14. 84 delivered with no prescription required. I e-mailed Samuel Pawson requesting that they refund the difference but have heard nothing back yet. I did some searching and found a review site for CVS where the people who work for them leave reviews including vets. I think it is called Glassdoor? The people are saying that the company only cares about the bottom line and profits, worth a look , you will find it interesting. There is no way I would ever use this service again and will be finding a more honest practice ASAP. I know this will be difficult as most of the vets seem to operate as a cartel and look after each other. We left a previous vet in Newquay for exactly the same reasons. As for the star rating it is not possible to give a minus score but that is what they deserve, in fact they do not deserve to be rated at all. Hope this helps other people not to get ripped off. The one star I am made to put is for the brilliant receptionists that have always been amazing. I have been a loyal paying customer for over 3 years (with my 4 dogs, 5 cats and litter of puppies) Only ever had a problem with one vet in particular and after 3 days ago it was so terrible I have had to take all my animals off the system and go elsewhere. The treatment of myself and my 9, 8week old puppies was ridiculous, a first vet visit is important to show them it isn't scary, they were treated like robots and just a job, picked them up vaccinated them and said "next." No talking to them, stroking them much or reassuring them and showing little care. Didn't though roughly check them (heart rate, weigh, check teeth) until I questioned it and felt the need to argue it which then he rushed it. I was paying for a full puppy pack for each one and as I got to reception and I asked about microchips (now a legal requirement) he refused to do them until they're 12 weeks old. It was a very poor service and let the whole company down, I am in the dog community and know a lot of people so I make sure to tell people of this and I will be writing a letter. Such a shameRead Less

I cannot praise Veterinarian Paul enough this week. It was my first visit to Clifton Villa with one of my African Leopard Tortoises. Despite his condition, Paul did everything to try and help and also took on the responsibility of my other Tortoise as I couldn't provide the level of special care she needed. It was a very sad set of circumstances that was met with the utmost compassion and I am really really grateful. Thank you! Read Less
