Clare veterinary group have 3 locations, the main site being the large animal hospital in Ballyclare. Recently one of our cats had an infected wound following a fight with some magpies, we discovered the wound on a Saturday morning and contacted our local branch at Cavehill Rd who advised we would need to take him to Ballyclare as only a veterinary nurse was on duty. On phoning Ballyclare I was given a couple of times to chose from the same day to get him checked out. We only had to wait a few minutes on arrival before being seen, he was given an injection of a painkiller and we were sent home with a week of antibiotics to give him and some advice on caring for the wound but to contact them again if he got any worse. At £35 it wasn't too expensive a visit thankfully and within 24hrs our cat had perked up and wound was looking much better. Read Less

Having recently visited the Veterinary with a sick Hen, it was apparent that it was incorrectly diagnosed as having worms despite the animal displaying multiple symptoms akin to a common disease called 'Marek's disease'. Despite eating and drinking well, relative to her circumstance, the limited movement in the hen's limbs rapidly deteriorated to a terminal paralysis and death soon after! Reasonably so, I'm very disappointed because even though Marek's cannot be cured, with the correct diagnosis and treatment, it can be managed. Moreover, to add insult to injury, the cost (+57 Pounds) of worming treatment and consultation to attend to 1 hen was absolutely disgusting and daylight robbery. Where the cost had been reasonable, I would have refrained from the review although given the unprofessionalism and expensive yet incorrect treatment my hen received, the review is warranted and a warning to other pet owners, or hens (Small Exotics as the invoice reads)! PS: If the clinic wishes to refund me, I'm happy to accept 50% as I know you have expensive rates in Ballyclare. Read Less

This veterinary surgery is the main branch of the group that we take our dog to when she is feeling poorly. The vets operate out of here as it's the main branch, and move around to the others branches throughout Belfast as necessary. We brought our dog here when she had to be 'fixed' as they say, and again for a little surgery on here eye. Both times, she was handled with great care and the vets and the assistants were incredibly trustworthy and professional with regard to her surgery and her aftercare. They stayed in touch with us throughout her treatment and gave us updates and detailed information on how to care for her after her operations.  The premises are light and spacious and you don't feel cramped or that you're sitting on top of other customers and thier pets while you wait to be seen. The parking is excellent too. Their emergency on call service is good because if you need it, they will have a vet on the phone to you almost instantly. Read Less
