Castle Veterinary Group is a two centre 8 vet practice catering for all animals both large and small. We have surgeries in both Castlewellan and Downpatrick. Our purpose built surgery in Castlewellan was opened in 1997 and is equipped with a state of the art operating theatre, diagnostic imaging suite and medical laboratory with in house blood testing facilities, endoscopy and ECG machine.
Our surgery at Downpatrick also contains all of the above diagnostic tools and although operating on a slightly smaller scale it still provides the same high standards.
We are proud that both our surgeries have been accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as small animal general practice at Tier 2 level. This is the highest standard for pet veterinary practice and involves a detailed inspection of a practice which is then classified accordingly.
Our farm and equine practice is extensive and covers a large part of South Down. We pride ourselves on the quality care we provide and constantly update our services.

Been with them for over five years for my two dogs one of them had to be put to sleep few days ago due to taken really ill... the vet was so understanding and explained everything bit by bit to us we stayed with peppa when he put her to sleep and let us take our time to say goodbye even though they were so busy we also received a wee card from them with there condolences the understanding and patience helps a lot when you loose a very loved pet

I've had a few of my dogs here and recently I had my dog Keisha in with a sore leg and the care she received was excellent she was always so happy with the girls and never hesitated going in with them...

My family have had their pets with Castle Vets for almost 15 years. One of our dogs, Vinnie, had a lot of health problem and so was a regular visitor! Because of the kindness and loving nature of the staff, I never had to 'drag him in' once, he loved going to see his friends Aidan and Julie! We very recently had to make the decision to let him go, and the staff, in particular Catherine were fantastic. Everything was explained and we weren't rushed or anything. He wasn't even scared when the time came! The nicest thing about the team at Castle Vets is that they treat your family pet like their own, we know that everyone is as gutted as we are about losing Vin! Our two remaining dogs aren't coping well, but the staff have been great about that too! TL:DR: Castle Vets are great, everybody take their pets there. We would have lost our dog a long time ago if it wasn't for them. :)

I visited Castle Vets with my 14 year old dog. The decision wasnt easy and i felt guilty for having her put to sleep but the Vet that saw her instantly knew it was best for her. It doesnt end there tbey followed up with a lovely card offering condolences which i thought was a lovely gesture and touch. Would recommend them in a heartbeat

My wife and I recently had the traumatic ordeal of having to put our beloved dog 'Matilda' to sleep after almost 15 years with us . We would like to thank the vet Martin for the time he spent with us ...
My wife and I recently had the traumatic ordeal of having to put our beloved dog 'Matilda' to sleep after almost 15 years with us . We would like to thank the vet Martin for the time he spent with us explaining the different options available i.e treatment which owing to the dogs age and condition he thought was not an option and suggested the kindest thing to do was to put her to 'sleep' . Although it was not easy we opted for the later and this was made a lot easier by the compassion and kindness shown by Martin.
A big thank you also to the nurse (can't remember her name ) who assisted him and was very professional and compassionate also . Although we shall miss our lovely pet we are reassured that we have taken the correct course of action thanks to the professionalism of the staff at Castle vets .

I have been with castle vets for some years now and while my boxer Ali was ill they became Alis second home. Everyone from Adrian and Roisin down treated him as their own he got the very best treatmen...
I have been with castle vets for some years now and while my boxer Ali was ill they became Alis second home. Everyone from Adrian and Roisin down treated him as their own he got the very best treatment available and just couldn't have done more for him. Sadly Ali has passed away now but I will never forget their care and kindness to both Ali and myself.

Been with them for over five years for my two dogs one of them had to be put to sleep few days ago due to taken really ill... the vet was so understanding and explained everything bit by bit to us we stayed with peppa when he put her to sleep and let us take our time to say goodbye even though they were so busy we also received a wee card from them with there condolences the understanding and patience helps a lot when you loose a very loved pet

My family have had their pets with Castle Vets for almost 15 years. One of our dogs, Vinnie, had a lot of health problem and so was a regular visitor! Because of the kindness and loving nature of the staff, I never had to 'drag him in' once, he loved going to see his friends Aidan and Julie! We very recently had to make the decision to let him go, and the staff, in particular Catherine were fantastic. Everything was explained and we weren't rushed or anything. He wasn't even scared when the time came! The nicest thing about the team at Castle Vets is that they treat your family pet like their own, we know that everyone is as gutted as we are about losing Vin! Our two remaining dogs aren't coping well, but the staff have been great about that too! TL:DR: Castle Vets are great, everybody take their pets there.
