I cannot thank White Lion enough for the care and time spent with my cat over the last couple of weeks. Please DO NOT be put off by any negative reviews. I wouldnt go anywhere else. Friendly sincere staff who put your pets needs as a priority within the best of their ability, which can be proven difficult due to the surgery being so busy but not once have they complained. My cat had a blockage in his bladder, fortunatley we have him insured however there was still a risk of additional and upfront payments to be hospitalised and referred to a specialist for an operation. Unfortunatley we didnt have this money and the vet was very understanding and did not want him to have to be put down due to money when there was a chance he could be fixed. Been going to this vets for years. . However, a 36 quid consultation fee?, Really? When other vets in the area charge 22 quid! I only found this out later by the way. Took my dog recently to get a lump checked out and was quoted 468.23p. to have it removed. When I asked if they would check the lump out to see if it would be cancer the vet said she would do it if I wanted it! Really? Are they not concerned about the dogs health? So, it would be a total of 559.55 to have the lump checked out as well! So, I got another estimate from another vets. 289.00 for the operation AND get the lump sent off and examined. They said they do this with every lump! White Lion Vets. You will never EVER get any more custom from me! Absolutely disgusting! Read Less

I have used these vets for many many years now as my mum did before me too and can do nothing but praise all the staff there so I was shocked to see the 1 star ratings. I've had some scary emergencies with my pets in particular my dogs and on occasions they have performed nothing sort of miracles for me and my beloved animals. I would highly recommend this veterinary practice to anyone in the surrounding area, their vets are amazing and their reception staff have always been very friendly and extremely helpful when ever I have spoken to them or needed help or advice. Had my dog here for 4 consecutive weeks with a bad ear which cost 70-90 per visit , was giving different drops and tablets each week. Then i was informed to give it 2-3 weeks and take him back for a check up. My wife was shouted at by the vet having her in tears saying the dogs ear was a mess and should of been brought in earlier and needed to be put to sleep if we did not pay for more treatment ?? I explained that we had been going there for weeks and not one apology so I made a complaint. He then said the dog needed a ear swab 70+ to find out the problem once the results where back with in a week my dog made a full recovery. In my opinion this should of been done in the first place saving me money and most important the dogs suffering. Since that visit we went back to get the dog castrated and his ears plucked while under the anesthetic i explained i did not want to see that vet again but was informed that he had left. My puppy has had the worst treatment from this vets. She is only 5 months old and has been for her injections one one occasion and the vet was so rude and rough with my little puppy and so uncaring towards her. Second time my little puppy had an upset stomach and was passing greenish mucus with blood in stool. Rang vets for advice and was told she needed to be rushed in asap. Payed 31 to be told it was an irritation in her stomach due to changing her food (because she wouldn't take to the food she had as a new born) they gave us some paste to put in her food which made absolutely no difference and she got better on her own. My most recent occasion was just the other day, my puppy had ate a grape which fell on the floor accidentally and she ate it up. I rang the vets as I knew grapes can be poisonous for dogs and panicked a little. The vets said she needed to be rushed into the vets asap and even encouraged me to walk out of my workplace to bring her as it was an emergency. They said she would have to be put on fluids on a drip for 24 hours. After reading online and speaking to my colleagues at work for assurance I found it would take a lot more than one single grape to damage my puppy and even found some people train their dogs with grapes. I understand it is best practice for the vets to encourage me to have her seen but as she was her happy usual self I assured myself she would be fine as you know your own dog best. The way the vets spoke to be on the phone was discgusting and the first thing they mentioned was money, claiming it would be the cheaper option to go through them rather than an emergency clinic (which yes I'm sure but it seemed strange they'd talk about money so soon rather than ask if my puppy was ok or about any symptoms.) I have now withdrawn my puppy from this practise and introduced her into what will hopefully be a more friendly and caring veterinary group. Read Less

I cannot thank the staff enough for all your help, with what i can only describe as a horrendous time. On Wednesday my lovely Cat Buster had to have a leg amputated, the staff reassured me and made the decision easier, as I was worried about the quality of life my Buster would have only having 3 legs. I would also like to thank the receptionist's who are very friendly and always helpful. Buster still has a long journey ahead of him, but with the support from First Vets I know he will make a full recovery. Thanks again Laura (P.S sorry for all the crying). Read Less

Deceiving These vets are a complete rip off in my opinion, they diagnosed my dog with a ulcer on each eye then charged 80 for the treatment (two sets of eye drops). Two weeks later after following the instructions of the 'vet' none of the symptoms had reduced. I called the vet to enquire why, and they said to bring her back in $$$$$$$$$$$. I declined and decided to seek a second opinion. Another vet inspected my dog and clearly stated there was no ulcers within the eyes and it was a fatty deposit. The only treatment was to clean the sleep out of the dogs eye each day. Overall this vet is deceiving fraudulent and just in it for the money in my opinion. Do not go their! Read Less

Read Less

Disgusted that a Vet named Rachel Yost is refusing a dying cat his medication, I have chosen to give him palliative care at home and he is comfortable, however he will now have discomfort no thanks to this Vet, how does she have the right to do this, she doesn't and I am appalled! I want to add that the staff on the counter are lovely, and have no problem with them, but I will be putting in a high level complaint about.

Read Less
