My Labrador Rex collapsed on 7th May 2020, he was 14yrs old and my world. I live alone and suffer with arthritis with compromised mobility and I have no friends or family close by. I rang the emergency line at the vets to be told after I explained the dogs symptoms that no way would they send a vet out to him, even though I explained I was unable to get him up from where he had collapsed and doubted he would walk again, he looked infact as if he was dying. They still remained adamant that due to social distancing and lockdown no way would they come out to him, continuing this argument even when I offered to distance myself from them inside my house. Eventually I gave up on my argument and phoned a relative who despite also being worried about social distancing came to help me get my dog to the vets. We had a terrible time carrying him to the car, he collapsed a further two times from the house to the car, once in the middle of the road, very kind compassionate people stopped their cars and came to help us, without a thought for their own safety. When we got to the vets it was like Fort Knox, had to ring the emergency number again to get a vet to attend to us and see my dog in the back of the car. We eventually got the dog into the vet surgery and examined by this time it was clear there was no hope, the vet came out to tell me and the decision was made to put him to sleep, I asked if I put on protective clothing could I go into the vets and spend the last minutes with him until he passed, I was told no. This whole episode has displayed to me a lack of compassion and disregard for the animal, I realise we are living in exceptional and difficult times but what was done at the vets on the car park could have been done in my home, I have no Covid symptoms and live alone and my dog was caused unnecessary suffering due to selfishness, ignorance and fear, thank god the NHS workers have not shown these colours or where would we be. Rex was much more to me than just a dog.... I have been left feeling shocked, grief stricken and very alone after this incident and I am taking my other elderly dog away from their clutches and finding another vet with hopefully more understanding and compassion. Your a disgrace Alfreton Park Vets, shame on you. Read Less

Don’t bother, if you can go elsewhere. If it’s an emergency, I’m afraid they’ve got you by the short and curlies. My Shar-Pei spent one night here after he had a tumour removed along with his spleen from my regular vets in chesterfield and they recommended this one over night. We checked in with the vet and from the get go it seemed to be all about making money money money. We paid £150 for the consultation when we arrived (I get you have to pay more for an “out of hours” establishment but this price is absolutely disgusting in comparison to my regular vets which is £26 per consultation. You get filled with many seeds of doubt with the “well if you don’t pay the gold star package I won’t be able to scan for internal bleeding etc.....” this quote was originally a tad of £700 just to give him his meds, check his heartbeat and make sure he stayed hydrated. They’re posters inside the vets stating they work with finance brokers to get loans to keep your pet alive etc, absolutely disgusting. Received a phone call at 11:30pm after dropping my dog off at 7pm and they only just decided to give him fluids asking to see if it was ok to put another I.V line in him for an extra £325 worst case scenario. Shock horror of course your going to say yes. No explanation why it took 4,5hrs to give him fluids?! He also wee’d on his anti scratch vest which they decided to leave him in all night so they obviously don’t even let them out to the toilet. A nurse standing in there though was brilliant, reassuring, knew what she was on about and didn’t give you any BS. Far too good for this particular vets. Of course there are good reviews because people will tend to give good reviews when they are only “regulars” with routine boosters in regular hours. It’s not a true reflection of what this place is actually about. Read Less

I have been using these vets for many years and they are an extremely knowledgeable and caring team. Through bad times and happy times they cannot be faulted on their dedication. They saw our little pug cross Poe through to his tragic end and helped his best friend Blue when he was literally pinning to death and had to be put on a drip. They have also laughed with us at our 2 new arrivals Loki and Banjo. Well done all of you vets, nurses and receptionists, keep up the good work, without you where would we be. Xxxxxx Read Less

I am a big fan of this Vets in and in particular of Babs Ingram who I see with my old cat at regular intervals. Thanks to her getting to the root of my 18 year old cat's health issue I get to keep my old lady for a bit longer as I was sure it was going to be curtains for her when we took her to the practice in a right sorry state getting on for a year ago. I have also accompanied my Mum when she needed her Cockatoo's beak trimming and Claire was great with him. The reception staff are very friendly and the waiting area which is very pleasant is always spotlessly clean. Going on my own experience I can't rate this Vets highly enough. Read Less

Had to take our 14 year old cat Ozzy today to be put to sleep, am in bits and things won't be the same again without our much loved and loving pet. Cauldon not have been more impressed with the service from first speaking with the receptionist who advised us this morning that they were already very busy and the wait may be too stressful for Oz so to bring him later which made sense. We were seen by a nurse who was so lovely, sympathetic, understanding, caring towards Ozzy and us and very proffession. We were with him when he passed away peacefully and she prepared him to bring home for burial. The thing that struck me is that it didn't feel as though the do this every day and would like to thank them for taking such tender care of Oz. Read Less

I can't fault any of the vets, nurses or reception staff. Always friendly whenever I've been. My dogs love going , which is down to everyone making such a fuss of them, they have no fear at all .

These vets put my pet to sleep without my consent. I was there at the time and told them clearly that I would not give them my consent to do that. They had no respect whatsoever for my wishes or my beliefs. The vet told me that they would fetch the police and get the pet signed over to them if necessary and that it is actually common for them to put peoples pets to sleep without the owners consent.

Read Less
