Terrible service, Went in to get my dog some tablets she needs only to be told that they will not give them to me because we are now at another vets. I have for the past 2 years been buying these over the counter from spire vets without any problems. The woman said its illegal. So for the past 2 years they have been giving me illegal flea treatment which I have paid for absolutely ridiculous service. Surely your policy should cover right and wrong. So glad we left 2 years ago. The staff don't seem to care about the actual animals, which is why we left in the first place. Read Less

A very good vets that really do care for your pet. The costs are reasonably cheap compare to other vets. The staff are very friendly and will give you all the details and information you need about your pet. You can either book in by appointment or queue up during drop in times. You might find yourself waiting for a while if you go during drop in times but that is to be expected with the low costs and great staff. Read Less

This is a really good vet. Bruce is excellent. I brought my cats here for years and they make having a pet very affordable. My only complaint was that Nikki on reception was sometimes a little rude but I'm assuming it was a bad day or two. I now live too far away to come at this moment but if I move within the area I will definitely return. Read Less

Been at this vets for a few years now and I have always been very happy with how they look after my pets. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Yes it is a pain that you have to sit and wait but I am prepared to do this as my pets deserve a professional consultation, a caring environment and honesty and that is what I get every time. Terrible. They diagnosed something completely wrong and advised putting my one year old dog to sleep. Well a year on and she's still alive and we had a second opinion who have confirmed that you guys got it completely wrong and it's a good job we didn't put her to sleep! They have massive queues and you're just rushed in and out they don't have time of day for you. Definitely do not recommend and shall not be going again. Read Less

This rating I'm sorry to say was only when Ian was at the vets.. nearly 20 years I have used this vet.. Ian helped me keep my 28 year old horse going. But when it was time to let him go he was amazing very compassionate.. he then treated me huge mastiff. And I book for me boy to go to sleep at home. But I didn't want him to know.. Ian gave me tablets to give him because he came,, my boy went with dignity and I was looked after by Ian.. I have my dog  cremated these times was hard but helped by knowing I trusted Ian to advise me. And he was there for me.. That's why everyone came from everywhere for this vets practice.. because Ian Taylor was a man that knew what he was doing across the board. Now there's no Ian. Bruce is away again.. I have only weeks ago had my bitch spade. I took her back for a check up 3 days after like I was told. I was called in by a vet I couldn't understand he then ask for me girl to be turn over or held up.. I was appalled my partner had to grab my girl move her out the way because he was going to take her stitches out. He couldn't understand she was her for a check up three days after her operation.. I felt sick. I have for dogs registered with spire vets. It as change so much. You don't get a vet you know very often. You can't understand the vet you see. And I asked for help because one of my rescued bulldogs was have trouble with the traveling and it was making it impossible to get him checked after getting him there and having to wait hours.. so when I ask for help just once to see a vet I know and trust and could I be told or phoned when to get him in asap so he could be put on the pills I had been told would help by Lucy..I was shocked as I meet a brick wall at the desk to book in. And I was told it may be better to to my dog to a vet closer to my home. I said if I couldn't be helped I would not be taking one dog somewhere else I would be taking all three.. if this is how customers that have been very loyal with horses and dogs for approx 20 yr I don't give much hope for spire to keep its good name. What a shame. And it as gone down since Ian's retirement I have book another bulldog bitch in to have her spayed and picked her up on a Friday night we got the at 5 0clock I though we will not be adole to park and with be a long wait.. I was shocked there was two people in there. And one more came before we left. I have never known this of spire vets. It shows me other cumstomers must feel the same as myself but it is such a very big loss. Spire vets was known far and wide,But I feel it will not last much longer if Bruce don't show the customers the same care that Ian Taylor was known for.. Great vets, no booking system just turn up and wait your turn. Came out to put down my dying dog out of hours with great respect and compassion. Would recommend them to anyone. Very low prices as they are more for the animals than making a lot of money. Read Less

The best local vets and very reasonable priced. Our cat was very poorly and found lots of issues wrong that another vet surgery in Chesterfield failed to diagnose because they were totally rubbish! So pleased I followed my gut instinct and brought her to you. Can't thank you all enough! I would rather wait to be seen, drive a little longer to get the best care for our 4 legged family members. Very reasonably price by far the cheapest vets I have ever been to. We will always recommend you to others. Thank you to Lucy, Bruce and all the vets that helped make Rosie ok the road to recovery! Fantastic! The best vets I have ever been to. I had to take my cat there recently, to be put down. They dealt with this matter with great dignity and showed both me and my cat great compassion. Very reasonably priced too. Someone else on here has complained that there can be a queue outside the door. Well, doesn't that tell you how good they are? And if you want to avoid a queue, ring up first and ask when is a good time to come! When I did that, I was seen very quickly. Honestly, I can't recommend them enough. Read Less

I find this vet excellent I know you have to queue but that's because partly because they are so good and partly because of the PDSA which is also an excellent service, the front of house girls do a very good job and I have always been satisfied with the service also the prices I feel are not extortionate. The only thing that lets them down is the parking facilities but there's not much they can do about that ! With regards to Dvfg Dsjhdsjs remarks below about the front of house girls they are receptionists not vet's so therefore are not qualified to give out drugs of any kind without the vets recommendation and I am sure he will not be missed if he never returns again!! The staff at this vets are fantastic. The vets do their very best for your pets at all times. The only problem I could ever think of, is the sit and wait. The order of which you are seen varys, so you could get there really early and still be waiting past closing time. But that would be the only problem and if it let me I would definitely give this vets 10 stars.Read Less

The receptionists/nurses at this place are awful. They are rude, they lie about your pets care and have a general nasty attitude all round. I have been in a few times now and they are always unpleasant. The vets are amazing. They really care and do all they can to make your dogs well. The price can't be beaten. They are probably the cheapest for miles. They really need to sort out the front of house though. My dog had just had a serious operation and had pulled the drip out of her leg so was covered in blood. No attempt was made to clean this up. The nurse/receptionist just put the bandage on and passed her to me, leaving my coat and my dog covered in blood. She also said something about it possibly being pulled out by another dog, implying that 2 dogs were kept in the same cage but I don't know if that was the case. It was a pretty large cage for my small dog so they may have had 2 in there I don't know. When we got to the car she was crying loudly and obviously in pain so I went back in to get some more pain relief. The receptionist told me she'd already had pain killers and they will last 3 days. No painkillers last 3 days. I asked for follow up pain killers like metacam or similar having been given these in the past. I was then told to bring her back in and she would see the vet. The vet gave her an injection, (wouldn't have needed to if painkillers already given) and gave me some follow up pain relief for the next few days. All in all a very traumatizing event. I would probably not go there again unless I really had to for financial reasons. The front of house stops this place being the best vets around. Read Less
