Abdul is the most disrespectful, unprofessional waste of space I have ever come across. He had 20 pet owners waiting in his car park all booked in for roughly the same time. He treats animals with NO respect, I saw how rough he was with the poor things while I waited in the car park for over an hour. As I stepped into the surgery he started shouting at me in front of my children at one point shouting “LOOK AT ME! TIE YOUR DOG UP AT THE BANISTER AND GO!!” When I left the surgery I cried out of pure shock, I was already distressed as my dog had a poorly eye and any fellow pet owners will know how their animals health effects there emotions. Pets at home is a much better vets in my eyes and I will never be going back to Abdul. If my husband had of been with me, I doubt he would of spoken with such disrespect! Abdul s focus is on the animals he treats. It's a 20 mile round trip and many other people travel even greater distances because he is completely trustworthy. If he doesn't know, he will find out. He only uses locums which meet his exacting standards. I have tried all the vets nearer to me and whilst they cost more, have posh premises, they often see you as a sales opportunity and the level of knowledge, experience and continuity of care fall well below that of Blagreaves. I visited this practice yesterday for the first time with my 9 week old puppy. The vet was obviously running late. I felt he had no time for me or my puppy. Only checked one ear then said other was ok without checking. I asked a couple of questions but felt he was annoyed by this, telling me to see reception staff. He pulled the pup by his skin making him yelp to see in his mouth. Pup was so frightened he got sick on the way out and I ended up in tears. Took my dog to the vets on Monday, after he was recommended by friends, following loss of appetite, extreme weight loss and being sick. We was with Abdul for 5 min who said my dog was fine, healthy happy dog, gave him an anti sickness job on away we went. Today is now Thursday and my dog is now skin and bone took him to another vets(a lot cheaper) the vet felt his stomach and said he could feel a large obstruction. My 11 year old dog is now having emergency surgery with only 50/50 chance of survival. Thanks Abdul, your need to make money and get as many appointments as you can in one day has probably cost my lovely dog his life!! Abdul has no people skills, did not try to comfort my dog or even speak to him he just wants pets in and out to make maximum profit. No care and compassion and defiantly not an animal lover! I have been taking my 2 dogs there for about a year now. Doctor is very honest, does not waste time on pep talk and gets to the point quickly. I am the same and know it is not always welcomed. We are happy so far with his advice and attitude. We are adults and do not need pat on the back every time our pawkids get ill. Tuff! Kids get ill! Our youngest had operation on his paw. I have been using Abdul and the team for all of my pets, for many years. I recently adopted an elderly cat. The place from where I adopted him, had had our Slinky Cola on a variety of 'trial-and-error' combinations of normal and prescription, wet and dry food for two months as he had intestinal problems. I collected him from the adoption centre last week, and he continued to have loose & nasty number-2s. I was aware that Cola had seen the resident vet at the adoption centre various times, and indeed five days prIor to me collecting him. Not wanting to unsettle him further, I didn't wish to take my new cat to the vet, so instead I emailed the adoption centre, who put the problem down to anxiety. After a few days with no improvement, one visit to Abdul has sorted my boy out with a treatment of antibiotics. I can't believe that he was suffering needlessly all that time, as he has now consistently done normal number-2s. What a relief and triumph! Abdul is marvelous. I've been taking PPSBJ to him, with various problems, since I got him 8 years ago. The cat came to me at the age of 10. He had been top cat in his previous neighbourhood so our first problem was a nasty paw injury after he'd picked a fight. The antibiotics didn't heal the paw, so the next visit, Abdul gave the strongest possible antibiotic dose and the last resort would be exploratory if that didn't heal it. Voila, the paw healed. As it was an ongoing query, the consultation fee seemed lower, like it does too when Abdul requests to see the pet to check on its progress after several repeat prescriptions. The cat is now 18 (88 in human years) and is treated daily for arthritis and hyperthyroidism. PPSBJ went missing in May 16 for 24 hours. My partner had gone around the neighbourhood and had managed to coax the cat back home. We were just so cock-a-hoop to find our poor cat. We took him to Abdul, and the cat had developed early dementia and had become confused. Abdul keeps our little boy well, safe and very happy, despite these little health problems. He is a great vet, a lovely family man and he's very witty and perceptive too (he must have been able to detect during my first short appointment that I cluck around my cat as he surprised me with "remember, he's not a dog, leave him be" 😅. He has impressed me with his dedication kindness and empathy in treating my beagle, seeing him at short notice whenever necessary. Was just in there in the que after being told my pets are ready to be picked up for over half an hour. In the end I've walked out. He has scared my gentle and placid bulldog for life with his inability to make him feel comfortable in the environment. ONE WORD "ABDUL" Possibly one of the most emotionally constipated people I have ever met. No care, consideration, patience, manners, regard, sympathy, people skills or professionalism. He is rude, abrupt, aggressive, intolerable and lacks everything a vet should have. He insults our beloved animals, judges them, viciously comments on the unique personalities our animals have. He particularly feels the need to make you aware upon every visit "i am the vet, you are a customer, if you don't like it, find somewhere else" and also wishes you luck finding somebody better than him. One of my precious little dogs almost lost her eyesight due to this hideous creature's lack of knowledge and initiative. My second dog had conquered anxiety caused by ill treatment by their previous owner - a visit to Abdul immediately heightened the anxieties to newer levels. Abdul was recommended to me by my GSD breeder, my Cassiebear as a chronic ear infection but with Abdul's help it's now being kept under control. Came first time with a puppy for 1st vaccination. I said that dog coughs, especially at evening time. Doctor (man) just slightly touch my puppy, didn't observe properly-did not listen by stethoscope, didn't check the mouth, ears just prescribe antibiotics, which doesn't helped. After I change clinic - we go to Ostmaston Road, Derby and doctor said that this is all worm symptoms, give tablets and same day puppy stop cough. Never recommend to go there, doctor wasn't interested treat my pet, just to get money. I will write a complain. Read Less

After losing my Shi Tzu 8 years ago it took me four years to have another furbaby during this time the vet I'd used previously had retired...My niece recommended Abdul who cares for her St Bernard if she has any issues. Thankfully I've not as yet (touch wood) had any major issues with Poppy and since gone on and had a second puppy Ruby, she too has had no major issues, just being spayed.., but feel I must say Abdul and his team have been very kind and reassuring... Abdul has looked after my cats for many years now. One of them he managed to save through surgery and excellent care.(diabetic who needed surgery on a large scale of dead skin) He was the one who I took my Marble to for her final journey , it was a Sunday and yet he told me to go over within the hour and was so gentle with her and made a very hard time seem less stressful. The staff I have encountered have been amazing , welcoming and knowledgeable. What really shines through is Abdul will do what is best for the animal , money doesn't rule here which makes a difference. Highly recommend this caring surgery.Read Less

The rudeness of the vet named Abdul is simply disgusting. He completely disregarded that my dog had just had a accident. Instead he kept saying that he is the vet and that he knows what he is doing when I tried talking to him what will happen next to my dog.. He assured me that he will put her on painkillers (which he did) and will put a cast on her leg in order to keep in straight (which he failed to do so). I agreed and such and left my precious dog in his care. I was quite confused and kept tearing up but my friend was reassuring and talked to him for me. When I returned to collect the dog to go to a better vet I saw the condition my dog was kept in. The wound got worse and I could actually see her bone. I was rather speechless to see my dogs conditions worsened.. The blanket provided was rather filthy and she was provided with no water. She was bleeding much more when I took her to the other vet which are pricier. But they actually cared and provided her with care! Not to mention that Abdul hung up on me twice while in conversation to cater to different patients which is understandable but does he really need to be this rude about it? The service is beyond disgusting and I will do my best to warn people about this Abdul guy. Read Less

Abdul is a wonderful and truthful vet who is not out to charge your excess money for ops,tablets etc that your pet does not need.He has come out at 3.30a.m to do an emergency c-section for my little chi girl who was struggling for over 2 hours whelping.Turned out the two puppies were stuck trying to get out at same time but they were delivered safely and mum was well cared for too.Went back today for wormer for the pups and was seen straight away and due to small size of puppies they bottled some wormer up for me as there is no way they would go through a full bottle and charged me an minimal amount for it.Nurses are polite and friendly and receptionist is warm and welcoming.Would recommend to others. I moved all of my animals to Blagreaves 3 years ago and couldn't be happier with the standard of care and service. Abdul is a very experienced and knowledgeable vet, who cares about each and every one of the animals in his care and his team are excellent. No treatment is carried out or recommended unless in the interests of the animal and completely necessary. The prices are very reasonable. Sadly I had to have my much loved cat put to sleep last year after a few months of illness and as with another reviewer, Abdul and the team were so kind and helpful and ensured the end was peaceful. Excellent practice. My beloved cat Rudy had a liver tumour and sadly had to be put to sleep. The whole thing was heartbreaking but I must say that Abdul and his staff were wonderful and did everything they possibly could. I would recommend this practice to any pet owner.
