I rarely have a bad word to say for vets but the Tiverton practice is horrendous. First they casually told me my 4 yr old cat had a terminal disease and could be dead within 3 months.. in fact he had a regular parasitic infection which cleared up after a week of antibiotics. I moved to another vets at this point (he's a very healthy 10 yr old now!). Sadly my mum stayed with them. Last night her beautiful 16 yr old cat became very poorly and heartbreakingly we decided it was his time. All the vet could do was tell her how expensive it would be and that she should bring him in instead.. yes, into a freezing cold night, drag him 10 miles in the middle of the night with a heart condition so his last moments would have been stressful and anxious, rather than curled up warm in his favourite spot with his mum. Money was never the issue, but his attitude was disgusting. Luckily my wonderful vet came out to see him, and calmly assisted him away from this world in the warmth of his own home with his mum.Read Less

Took my cat Marley to the vale in cullompton this afternoon as unhappy with a previous diagnosis. Within a few minutes of speaking to the vet today, we felt rest assured that his condition is not what was previously diagnosed and in fact he will make a full recovery on his own without the need for unnecessary (and costly) trip to a specialist for a CT scan. We had already seen improvements in only a few days hence we felt there had been a mis-diagnosis. Cant thank todays vet enough. Think his name was Ben. Lovely chap, pleasant, knowledgeable, reassuring and best of all...he thought marley was a precious diamond...which he is!! Read Less

I was amazed when bringing my mother's old dog in for a quick look at a bump on her nose, it was to reassure my mother (93) a client of this practice for over 40 years...to be handed a bill for 24 (6 for the pills and the rest for a 3 min consultation. I timed it.) Surely there could be a sliding scale depending on how long the consultation takes? The pills were nothing to do with this consultation, they were to be picked up as a repeat perscription. What do other people think? Are the vets charging too much? How about a system that helps elderly people who rely on their pets for companionship? Is there a vet 'out there' who would be willing to treat an elderly person's pet for a lesser sum? I agree to costs if drugs treatment etc are needed. Let's start a discussion.......... Read Less
