Quarry House Veterinary Centre

Torquay, Devon
General Info

We are an independent small animal practice with experience in the treatment of exotic species. Our aim is investigation, diagnosis and treatment of every case presented to us.  We make full use of our skills and equipment to give the best possible care to all our patients.

Our vets take daily appointments and consultations at all the surgeries on a rotational basis.  We are able to perform minor surgical procedures at Albany Vets, including the neutering of cats and dogs, but our main operating centre is Quarry House Vets in Torquay.  Home visits can be arranged if required and a full 24 emergency service is available.

Quarry house Vets have all the diagnostic facilities necessary for a busy hospital.

Only giving a one star as its the minimum you can give, quite frankly that's still too good! Disgusting services from start to finish, only interested in how much money you have before they start treatment. My dog was seriously ill vomiting blood and bloody diarrhea. The vet could barely speak English or understand me told me she would be fine wasn't in pain and palmed me off with some over priced dog food and some paste and told me to starve her for a further 24 hours, after she had already been ill and off food for 4 days, barely able to hold fluid and lost weight. I was charged £90 for the privilege. A few hours later I called back to say I didn't feel satisfied with my earlier appointment and was told if I was that concerned I should take her back and they would admit her do x rays, bloods, put her on a drip and catheter but it would be expensive and unless I had minimum £300 before treatment they wouldn't even see her. (even though we've been with them 5 years, and had they treated her earlier, I wouldn't have needed to take her back!! or be looking at inflated fees for emergency!!) when arguing this and asking if they had a duty of care, he told me yes I can put her to sleep! I decided to take her to another vets, they provided an excellent service with my dogs health and comfort a priority, they treated my dog, anti biotics, PAIN RELIEF, and anti sickness injection to hold down the medication. even with an out of hours fee my total bill was £89 still cheaper than the earlier pointless visit to Quarry House. Needless to say I registered with the new vets and wouldn't take any pet back to Quarry house if it was the last practice on the planet. The ultimate joke through all of this, is today I received an invoice of £231.61 for treatment she never even had as I never took her there to be treated! Read Less

Disgusting, a truly terrible service after 5 years of being registered same address phone number was basically told unless I could stump up a stupid amount of money for an emergency appointment they wouldn't see or treat my dog, unless it was to put her down as that is their only duty of care to end suffering!! I appreciate that they have to earn a living and everything costs but totally outrageous pricing and wouldn't have been necessary had she been treated appropriately in the beginning!! Read Less

After her being found on the tip as a kitten we looked after her and she grew into the most beautiful cat ever! Unfortunately she had to be put to sleep just before new year but thansk to these arseholes we won't be having her ashes returned as they made a MISTAKE and requested she be cremated as a multiple even though they were well aware that we wanted her cremated on her own with her ashes returned to us in a pouch! Misconduct and incompetence After a family cat of over 10 yrs took a sudden turn for the worse and required emergency medical attention, my mum having not long lived in the area took our beloved pet to quarry house vets in Torquay. Sadly our little princess had to be put to sleep- my mum paid for a single cremation service, for our babies ashes to come back in a beautiful pouch, having waited a couple of weeks over the xmas period we allowed them extra time before having to contact them to find out where her ashes are and when we could expect them to be returned. Much to our horror we had complete disheartening news from the vetinary manager that there had been a terrible mistake, and our pet had been cremated as a multiple and no ashes were to be returned. Not only is this absolutely heartbreaking for our family it's complete neglect and incompetence on the surgerys behalf. Whilst trying to deal with this heart rendering news my mum has also been spoken to with complete disrespect by manager and receptionistRead Less
