People who know me know that I very rarely give 5 stars to anyone as it's hard to attain excellent in anything. However, I have been using Spring Corner vets since I moved to the area in 1995. They have looked after all my animals from dogs, to cats, to rabbits, to guinea pigs and rats and I, and all the animals, have always been treated with respect, in a friendly manner and almost as part of the family of all the animals they look after. When I first moved to the area I used them because I got the cheapest quote, for castrating my dog, at that time. I soon came to learn that cheapest is not basic or sub-standard. They are very, very reasonable in price but still strive to achieve top quality care and support and they attain it! My experience with them has always been great. Tom once explained that he shops around for quality medications at a reasonable cost which made so much sense! When they were building their state-of-the-art facilities at their Bournemouth surgery I happened to have an appointment. As the appointment ended Tom invited me and my husband to have a look around the new facilities. He showed us the operating theatre and the x-ray suite. Wow - it was amazing! It was so nice to have someone show off their fab new equipment and he was rightly proud of what he, and his staff, have achieved! I have known some of the staff for years - Barbara has been there for as long as I can remember! Today I had to take my 2 year old Rottweiler for her annual injections at the Poole branch. We pulled up in the car and I got her out. There was a choice of three buildings that we could enter but she pulled me to go into the vets! When we were called in she ran into the consulting room and immediately went to the box of toys and began to play! the vet played with her and built up her confidence, as usual, before he examined her and gave her the injection. She was just so happy to be there! When we went to the desk to pay she was given a treat and also shown the box of toys to play with! She ran around the reception area thoroughly enjoying herself. This is "fear free" practice at its best! Annual vaccinations, 3 months flea and worm treatment, of top quality, all for just under £75! You just can't beat it. Quality care and products at basic prices! I wouldn't be able to afford to have my pets if I didn't have an understanding and caring reasonably priced vets! The staff all love her and she loves them too! One of my cats gets horrendously stressed when put into a cat box and taken for his annual check up and vaccination. Within 2 minutes of getting in the car he salivates heavily and poos and wees in the box. The nurses have always just taken it in their stride, taken him around to the quiet area, cleaned him and the box up and made a fuss of him! We couldn't recommend Tom and his amazing team enough! Our puppy broke his humourous and our regular vet in Cornwall had to refer us to a specialist clinic due to the fracture being so bad. Being so far away from Axl for so long was horrible but the nurses caring for him sent us regular updates, videos and photos and we couldn't thank them enough for being so kind and thoughtful and helping us through this terrible time.12 weeks on, one metal plate and so many screws later, our puppy is as good as new, running around like nothing ever happened (while we hold our breath!) Had to take my naughty puppy in over the weekend as he had eaten a pair of socks! Tom came in on a day off to remove the sock with a scope rather than have to open him up! We have had been with this vet for around 6-8 years and we have taken dozens of pets and had multiple lifesaving surgeries on gerbils, hamsters and rabbits. Had I left this review many years ago I would had no problem leaving a solid 5 star review but due to recent changes in the past few years I can’t leave any higher than 1 star. In the past few years this practice has had its fair share of veterinary physician employees turnover which meant that on several occasions we had new vets whom we felt was not as Rabbit savvy as our previous vets. Our rabbit whom was taken into their care sadly died a day later after returning home, we don’t blame the vets for this and you might be thinking why the 1 star review then? Well, frankly because this VET cares more about getting paid than the welfare of your animal. Our rabbit became ill and stopped eating which can kill a rabbit within a few hours. We took our rabbit to the VET and they wanted to keep her in. After having rabbits previous with similar issues we know that the bill could quickly increase and we did not have an insurance policy that would cover the care that she needed. Because I had paid out for a big repair on our car I had no money to cover the required care plan for her so I then asked the desk that could they wait a week. She said she couldn’t see it being a problem and she left a note on the system for the manager to review. They took her in and gave her critical care and a water drip. 3 days had passed and they advise her that she was a little better but she wasn’t out of the woods but the best place for her was at home. Upon collecting her they requested a bill of around £400-500 to be paid before taking her away. I explained that before treatment had been given I had told the front desk as discussed. They checked the system found the note on the system but was informed that the manager did not review it because they were away on Holiday. Despite the note on the system they told me I had to pay and I felt belittled because a queue was mounting and people could hear that I had money issues. Another member of staff whom I can only assume is a senior told me that I must pay and that they were not a charity like the PSDA, everyone in the queue could hear everything… so embarrassing. I had to remind them again and again that I told them I could not pay before they underwent any treatment after around 10-15mins they agreed that I could take her home but I couldn’t take the medication which was required to keep her alive and pain free. Knowing that I had no money on my car I plead with them for me to take the meds, I reminded to them that I had on several other occasions had been able to pay a week later with no issues, they informed me management policy now prevents that and they wanted to offer me a LOAN from a 3rd party broker which had high interest rates and was reminded more than 5 times it was subject to status like I had bad credit because I could afford the bill on the day. Upon searching my car I found my partners card and phoned her and she said she had enough just to cover the meds. It’s worth mentioning that I live on Kynveton Road, the same road as the VET (2mins walk). I paid for the meds and went home rather upset by it all. Sadly our rabbit took a turn for the worse and the very next day we had to put her to sleep. We wanted her ashes and lucky enough I had been paid early… had we not been paid we would most likely have to keep her body in a freezer going by their insensitive money worrying policy. Frankly the part where we was informed they was not a charity let me know never to return to this VET, all the previous years we had been with them ruined because a member of staff was having a bad day and the management policy was MONEY MONEY MONEY and not about animal care. No decent vet would be prepared for a poorly animal to leave the vet without pain relief or medication. Longtime customer no-more. Read Less

I honestly have no idea why this vets has such good reviews. Ive had, & heard, nothing but awful things. I was told once that my bulldog had terrible hips & may need an emergency op immediately... Staff didnt want to do the op until they'd confirmed with the owner, but the owner was off on his Sunseeker for a week so we'd have to wait. Yet they said it needed doing urgently in the next few days? ... I took her to another vet (Parley Cross - Kevin is amazing!!) & it turned out she has great hips, excellent mobility & definitely did not need any kind of operation. 5 years later her hips are still perfect so no idea what the vet at Spring Corner was on. Spring corner also kept her in over night for a morning xray which is completrly uncessary & purely just to make money as never had to do this at Parley Cross with either of my dogs. Ive had friends who have had awful experiences at Spring Corner too. One of them was told her cats eye was so severely infected that it needed to be removed. My friend was devestated. She took her cat to Parley Cross & Kevin managed to treat the eye & she didnt need it removed!! My other friend dropped her dog off at 9am for an operation she was told would happen at 11am. She specifically pointed out he is super anxious when left alone & will whine all day so the staff agreed to have him operated on early as possible. He didn't go into surgery until gone 3pm, was just left in a cage all day stressed & unhappy... One staff menber said he'd been really good all day, calm, quiet etc, another said he had been really stressed & barked the whole time. When she finally collected him she was given absolutely no after care advice for his operation, & they forgot to give him a cone collar. Another friend took their limping dog there & the vet didnt even check his pads to see if anything was stuck. They just sent them home with no absolutely no explanation at all! I really would not recommend this place to anyone. It seems most the vets have literally just finished university & just do everything textbook. 100% I would recommend Parley Cross, kevin is so lovely, helpful & will always explain absolutely everything to you so you have full understanding. The receptionists there are equally as nice. You can really tell that everyone there has a very deep passion for all animals! Read Less

I've had my baby in a few vets over the years never happy,however spring corner do have the time for you and your pet your appointment is never rushed and all questions u may have answered,the best vets in Dorset often we see Tim and he really cares for the animals and it shows I have also spoke to the owner on the phone on one occasion and he helped me greatly with some priceless advise and I really can't praise this vets enough,also not expensive compared to most vets. All the staff are excellent .I have used them for over 5 years for my cats and dog . They always ft in emergency appointments and give the very best care for the animals .I have had 2 animals stay in for treatment and Had daily phone calls on progress when I couldn't visit .My dog Milly was such a regular visitor due to illness the staff greated her like their own . Sadly last week we had to make the horrible decision to put Milly to sleep after being diagnosed with terminal cancer ,they rearranged staffing so they could attend a home visit to do this as we felt this would be best for her and both Hannah the vet and her assistant were so respectful and made a awlful situation as easy as possible.I always highly recommend spring corner to other pet owners . I have been using this vet surgery for many years, firstly when it was in Spring Road and now where it is in Knyveton road. They are very good at their job, they are always kind and thoughtful and are extremely good with the animals. One of my dogs is not well at all and they have gone out of their way to help him, he is now a lot better thanks to the care and dedication of the vets, also a big THANK YOU to all the staff for being so caring and friendly. Have always taken my pets there and would highly recommend them. They have always given excellent care to both our dogs and cats which has extended to us (the owners) and have been great through our bereavement too. Friendly and professional throughout. Highly competitive prices but without compromising care. They have recently had a major upgrade to theatres and equipment but have not put up the prices. I transferred from a franchise vet who was charging high fees and giving inconsistent care. I recommend Spring Corner to everyone I know. They saved the vision in my cat's eye with excellent care, they also boarded her while we were in Germany as unfortunately it happened the day before our holiday. We have now registered our puppy with them and they are always able to fit us in whenever we go. We went yesterday due to the puppy helping himself to Christmas chocolates, easy, fuss free, preventative care. I have never known a time when they don't fit you in. I am sure the waiting room gets busy at peak times but we have always been called at our appointment time or been seen right away when it is quiet. Their care is kind, practical and sensible. They are not interested in turning pets into cash cows. Our previous vet charged 21 for human eyes drops that you can get in the chemist for 4. When I questioned this I was told they were animal drugs until I pointed out the adult and child dosage on the box. Spring Corner charge 4, the same as the chemist and the antibiotics are half the price. We have had good value, consistently high care and I could not recommend them highly enough. I'm sure that the people who work here are nice people who do care about animals, but personally I wouldn't recommend anyone to take their pets here as it's not the best and there are places that have much better service. The waiting room is always busy, loud and unfortunately people seem to let their dogs urinate inside the building. I've seen this happen multiple times over the year that I took my cat here, and, while obviously the staff try to clean it up as soon as they can, there is usually horrid smell - either urine or disinfectant - and this is quite stressful for unwell animals, especially cats or smaller animals. I found that the staff are polite but very busy - often too busy to really give you the necessary time to talk over your pet's needs. Because they're trying to get everything done as quickly as possible they don't put the animals at ease, can be quite rough and generally make the experience more stressful than it needs to be. My cat picked up fleas when having an operation there, and only seemed to be able to get rid of them properly when we stopped taking her there regularly for weight checks etc. My cat also got diagnosed with a health problem that it turns out she doesn't actually have, which caused a lot of stress on everyone, and expensive procedures that she didn't need. I could forgive this if they had ever admitted any sort of mistake, but instead her vet continued to let us believe it was an ongoing condition that just wasn't showing up on the tests, despite other staff members saying they could see no physical abnormality that could cause the issue. The uncertainty from this conflicting advice was horrible and lead to lots of unnecessary vet visits since we thought she could be seriously ill. When taking her to a different practice, they found no evidence of any problem which was such a relief after months of worry. It may just be that I've had a particularly negative experience, but I can tell that my pet is much happier now that we don't take her to this vet. Read Less
