Medivet have ruined choice in our local area, buying up as many practices as possible and raising prices. Charged me £70 for a consultation and two small tubes of isathal for conjunctivitis, second time charged me £35 just for the meds, £17.50 for something that costs £8 online. Asked about prescription fee and it's £16, 60% higher than vets for pets. When the average partner is earning £350,000 a year and the largest partner over £1,000,000 it's clear their priority is not delivering affordable care. Thanks to their near monopoly now we have virtually no choice to go elsewhere. They said someone would call me to discuss the charging but obviously they've not bothered. Read Less

Shame on you Medivet... several months after taking over a local community veterinary practice in Wimborne Dorset , despite reassurances, you are now in a 'period of consultation ' (previous sentence edited for confidentiality at your request) The majority of staff have worked there for many years and are an integral part of the local community... there are many of us already unhappy with your extortionate prices, that have stuck with you as we've been loyal customers for many years, and some of us, all our lives. What a shame, as the new vets seem lovely. However you approach/business model speaks volumes... as will your empty waiting rooms. And for what? Profit! Genuinely saddened. Read Less

My beloved dog was euthanized at Medivet Gravesend recently, the most difficult decision I've made in my life, a blood test was suggested to see if anything could be done for him which I of course wanted, I left the room to stand outside the door and could here him struggling and panting, on returning I found him in a very distressed state with blood marks on his neck where the Vet had had two failed attempts to get the sample and she was preparing to have another stab at him... until I said no more, that is my lasting image of him, and it is very upsetting. I felt pressure to agree to have him put down, no blood test no treatment. She then put a catheter in his leg to euthanize him, it was not explained to me why this was needed, and has never happened with my pets before, yet more stress for him, after he died it would have been nice to be alone with him for a few minutes but this wasn't offered, instead I had to say goodbye sandwiched between the two staff. my dog was the world to me and a regular patient at this vets, almost weekly at the end, and each time I took him in I had to ask what they were treating him for and with when this information should have been freely given, I paid enough for the service after all. I would've liked my boy to have had a more dignified end. Out of interest This same vet a few months ago insisted on a blood test for our cat who'd hurt his leg, she had to do two needles full as she didn't take enough the first time, twice the stress, charged us well over £100 and then told us that the testing machine there wasn't that good or accurate, didn't give us a refund for this rubbish machine though, the pain killers made the cat ill and he got better with rest on his own, not long after by coincidence another of our cats hurt her leg we saw the lead vet this time and sure enough no blood test was needed, no fuss no bother. After I've collected my boys ashes next week I will not be using medivet again. And then they block me so I can't write a review on their site. And abuse me on the phone. The way this company have treated my friend is diabolical. They carried out treatment on his pet after he was involved in a near fatal car crash outside one of their practices. He was totally disorientated and didn't know what day of the week it was. Anyway, they hounded him for the fee. Their area manager made highly intrusive probes into his professional and private life to bully him into paying. He paid. When he later queried their ethical approach, he was (rightly) inform...ed they shouldn't have charged given the circumstances so requested reimbursement or at least a dialogue to discuss the matter. They agreed but then renegaded on the offer making what appear to be malicious allegations about him 'attending' their practices and upsetting staff - none of it is true. He has asked them to substantiate these allegations, and they refuse, because they know they've been caught lying. I've heard similar stories from other people and in my view they charge way too much and put profit before animal welfare. My family won't ever use them again. See More Read Less

Visited West Byfleet branch Saturday 17/02/18 after being told on the phone my 12 year old staff had been fighting arthritis for a while and maybe it's best to consider euthanasia as it is not fair to him and we have to consider his needs not our. Floods off tears all afternoon and evening, giving him strong pain killers from them which were non tested on animals and actually for humans, and singing up for £700xrays to confirm it was past hope before I could agree to euthanas...ia. Spent the evening nursing him thru what I thought was my beautiful boys last weekend. I couldn't face it so went to vets for pets Byfleet for a second opinion.. He was positive and praised his condition and general health, and actually let me feel my dogs knee joint as he moved it proving where the issue is, and said with glucosamine and condroitin twice a day for 6weeks it will improve massively and he will be able walk pain free again even after two weeks I will see a big difference. When I told him I had been told I should consider euthanasia he was shocked!!, and totally disagreed. On my return home u rubbed algesal (like voltarol) on my dogs knees and he was able to stand and lay without crying out. How DARE medivet use euthanasia as a first option and destroy hope and ignore other options available and make owners feel they are being selfish and cruel to not end their pets life. Because they have arthritis!!!!!!... Other options dismissed!!!. Never ever going there again, been with that vets 12 years! Disgusted!!! See More Read Less

I have been with medivet risedale for in excess of 10 years. I cannot rate them high enough for being friendly or caring. Their extremely helpful and they go that extra mile on many occasions. I have 2 cats and 1 dog and sadly I had to say goodbye to her in 2015. To her the vets was her second home and she loved going there. The whole process of saying goodbye was extremely hard but to their credit all the staff were brilliant in what was a very sad day and I know that they care so passionately about all the animals that cross their threshold. I now have another dog who I rescued and was nervous but after a couple of visits she now loves going there too. I consider myself very lucky to have such a wonderful team looking after my babies because that's exactly what they are and I am never worried about leaving them there because I know they will always look after them as if they were their own. So Risedale. Kyumi Nicola Steph Sarah Rachael you are all awesome and do a brilliant job. I know you will always keep up the good work. Thankyou.Read Less

Three cats, aging from 16 to 3. One has an impressive pedigree, two are girls, two are grey, two are laid-back, two love Dreamies, one needs regular claw-clipping, one is over 6kg, one has Colitis, one has had a Thyroidectomy, one has been spayed... twice (before we owned her). They all have one thing in common; they get amazing care and attention from MediVet-Ark Aid, Poole. The staff are wonderful, warm, kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable and make one feel that one is the only client that matters. They truly go above and beyond to look after our beloved animals. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to another pet owner. Read Less

My dog Molly had treatment in the Carpenders park branch for a lump on her eye, she had it removed all seemed good regarding payment from the insurance then I was asked for 54.74 extra, why I asked when I was covered and had paid my excess of 80, it seemed they went for a very expensive HISTOLOGY test rather than the 62.98, rather than asking me if this was alright they tried to get it of my insurers, and they said they will not cover it, as it was unnecessary. I then had a nasty letter from Medivet saying this can't continue, and payment had to be made !!!!!!!! , I had never received a letter from then about any money, so I rang the branch at Carpenders Park and asked what was going on, the receptionist took the message and said she will look into it, nothing happened, so a week later went it there and asked what was happening, she took a message and said she will get back to me, again nothing, then Anna was on holiday so another message was left, why should I pay extra money for something that was NOT neccary and no one at this branch knew why it was charged, was unhappy and think I will be taking my 2 dogs elsewhere for treatment as I feel the trust has gone which is a shame as I have been going there for 6 years Not happy at all, I know you have to make money but reallyRead Less
