Once upon a time I would have given four stars. I can just scrape 3 today. Why? The good points: Reception staff are lovely, and seem genuinely to love animals. If an animal of mine broke a leg or needed surgery for something like rotting teeth, I think I would still use them. For things that are essentially mechanical they have the equipment, efficiency and expertise. For anything else, probably not. They used to have a monthly visit from Tim Couzens, a homoeopathic vet who is based in East Hoathley. I understand that there has been a change of management, and that the new management decided to axe the service as a policy decision. A lousy choice, since, whatever anyone thinks about homoeopathy, Tim is simply a superb vet. My dog recently had sores on his feet. I was reasonably sure that there was a foreign body in there and said so every time I visited. I finally realised that there was a grass seed which had been making its way through the foot. The treatments the animal had been receiving had all been aimed at getting the sores to close. They actually needed to be encouraged to open and discharge. Once I realised that and adjusted his treatment accordingly, the wounds healed within two weeks. I then had to deal with building up the stamina of an elderly dog who had lacked proper exercise for four months. It's not that the vet in question didn't care; just that they lacked the intuitive qualities which would have helped the dog to heal much quicker. It is these qualities that the vet they have effectively sacked has in bucket-loads. Read Less

Avoid these rip off 'vets' like the plague!!! Rude vet, who didn't bother to check our dog and was too lazy to make a diagnosis, but had the audacity to charge extortionate fees by using guesswork as to what antibiotic to prescribe him Also, it's a rare known fact that medication does NOT have to be dispensed in the vets. Ask for the prescription and get it online yourself. For the antibiotic they prescribed at £65 the first time, it was £29 online. They also did nothing to rectify the problem when I made a high level complaint. Bottom Line, they don't care, are a money making machine with extortionate 400% mark up on products and our dog still suffered due to lack of care. Avoid avoid avoid! Read Less

I had some problems with the previous vet my cat was registered with so I left them and came to Grove Lodge Vets. I am delighted. Not only do they know what they're doing but also the staff is truly amazing. I highly recommend Lucy Hartnell - she took a really good care of my Sphynx. She was the first veterinarian who actually took her time to listen to what I had to say as an owner and really understood the issue I came to her with. Her attitude and willingness to help is to be applauded. This is what I call a good, dedicated veterinarian. I also recommend Carla Cruz who's super sweet, knowledge and great at what she does. The old saying 'wolf in sheep's clothing' springs to mind when dealing with this veterinary concern! On the one hand, your first contact [in person] with them is all sweetness and light and they promise you the moon, tell you this and that and every thing they will do for you!!! But when it comes time to put things into practice in the cold light of day, all you really get is a Stone Cold Reception, Bad Attitude followed by Lame Excuse after Lame Excuse? Then trying to contact them by phone is at best a nightmare and should you manage to (eventually) get through and speak to one of the most unhelpful members of staff going ... [this is talking about their Worthing Branch] you get spoken to by acid tongued staff members who then takes great delight in trying to make you feel guilty for disturbing them as 'they are all so busy and have better things to do than waste that time answering your silly concerns over the phone'! ... REALLY!!! If I was so inclined - anyone who spoke and dealt with my wife in the way they have over a sick animal - I'd be straight round there and right up in their face ... and not in a pleasant way!!! [ It's just lucky I'm trained to resist such urges when dealing with such low class members of our society? ] So be warned ... they are all about Money over Service, as long as the fee's keep rolling in, their happy and as long as THEY are happy then that's OK. And there was me thinking it was supposed to be about the animals (our pets) and the customers (us)? How wrong was I! :(Read Less

I think grove lodge are very unprofessional, my parents took their puppy to grove lodge and he was diagnosed with a heart condition, as my parents didn't have insurance the nurse told them that maybe she should of got a dog from Shoreham dogs trust so then she wouldn't have vet bills, the cardiologist also told my parents to make sure the puppy has a happy life as he could drop down dead at anytime. They wanted my parents to spend a 1,000 to look at the puppy, my parents simply couldn't afford this so they paid 300 for a scan, grove lodge then told my parents that he couldn't be treated but did they want to investigate further (costing more money) grove lodge then became very unsympathetic and unhelpful once they released my parents weren't going to pay the 1,000. We also asked the vet if the puppy was born with this condition and she explained she was unable to tell us without investigation (1,000) yet the breeder of the puppy was told (by the same vet) that the puppy was not born with the condition. We have written a complaint to grove lodge and we received a letter back explaining that a reply will happen within 14 days. It has been roughly 6 weeks and we still have not had a reply. We have been taking our two mischievous kitties here since they were 8 weeks old and they are now both 2 and a 1/2 years old. Grove Lodge have neutered, vaccinated and fixed them up when they've got themselves into trouble!! At all times the veterinarians have showed real care and compassion.Twice we have really needed them and they were so lovely both times. One morning we came down to find one of our boys in shock on the lounge floor, on a bank holiday weekend no less!! Grove Lodge saw us within half an hour and immediately took him in for x-rays etc. The results were sent to a kitten consultant in west sussex, as they wanted an expert opinion (something to do with bone formation), and he called us a few hours later to let us know he fractured his pelvis. They were honestly so kind and took the time to explain how to look after him when we picked him up. We were even given a little pack containing all the info plus the bits and bobs we needed. The other time wasn't quite so dramatic but we needed their emergency services (they have a 24/7 animal hospital in Worthing). I called them on a sunday morning as the other scallywag hurt his tail. They took a few details then a nurse called me back and he also sought the opinion of a doctor to rule out a broken tail over the phone...then they booked us an appointment for our local grove lodge the next day!So to sum it all up, they are all really friendly and show true kindness towards the pets and the humans too!! Excellent service, we're proud to have them as our vet. Read Less

I cannot thank the lovely staff at Grove Lodge enough, my gorgeous Ashley was hit by a car on the Friday of the bank holiday (possibly the worst time possible) but they were able to fix him up with the best possible love and care. Sadly he had to have a leg amputated but he's back home with us now and we're hoping for a speed recovery. I am so grateful, what a lovely bunch of caring people. Ashley sends his thanks for all the lovely fuss and chin rubs. Read Less

Read Less
