Absolutely amazing care from all staff concerned. My dog was old and unwell for a while and we always received good care until she sadly was put to sleep a few days ago. The vet was absolutely amazing especially as contact due to coronavirus is difficult. We were able to stay with our dog outside in the sunshine, stress free until she passed away. We cannot thank you enough for the care and consideration in difficult circumstances. Read Less

This organisation refused to treat my beautiful pet named Bengy. He became poorly on boxing day. Rand PDSA and they demanded £84 to see my pet. Did not have the money at that moment so the PDSA told me to come to Brighton surgery next day at 0945. Turned up with Bengy but receptionist demanded I pay £24 before the Vet could see Bengy. Did not have cash on me or bank card so told her I would have to find cash machine. She told me "Come back when you have the money". 15 mins later found a cash machine and was getting my wallet out when Bengy collapsed. Rushed him back but he died on the counter of the PDSA. Am grief stricken. Bengys sister is pining for him. Read Less

Cannot rate this place highly enough. Wonderful vets, wonderful receptionist that are always happy to see you and always always sympathetic. My demon cat who I love dearly usually comes with a disclosure to all vets. We warn them that yes, he is adorable but heck, he will claw your eyes out. Well this vet was like the flippin cat whisperer! Usually we wince and await the bloodbath but vetty mcveterson hushed him in his arms and held him like a lil baby who had fleas. Fleas treated, no lawsuit , we are very happy customers. This place is amazing. Read Less

Our cat was having breathing difficulties and was admitted to the pet hospital for treatment. We were kept fully informed of her progress at regular intervals. X rays were carried out and unfortunately a tumour was found. She did not respond to treatment and a hard decision was made to put her to sleep. This was done peacefully and the staff were sympathetic and caring. Our cat was an inpatient for three days and apart from the initial £20 consultation fee, no other payment was requested. We did however make a donation to help them continue their important and brilliant work looking after our pets. Read Less

I cannot say enough about the team that run these Pet Hospitals, I've used the PDSA for many years. There have been changes to the criteria for eligibility to use the service, not great for some. It angers me that there are many, many people who don't give back to the generosity of the service their pets get. With the cuts that have been forced on the charity if every owner gave say five pounds I'm sure it would make a difference. I'm on benefits and qualify, due to the changes a while ago I had two Staffordshire Bull Terriers registered at the PDSA, I had to get a private insurance because you couldn't have two pedigree dogs registered. I new pay nearly fifty pounds a month out of my benefit I wouldn't have dreamt of rehousing my second dog, even if I have to go without in order to pay the insurance. My original dog has recently been diagnosed with cancer, then got an eye infection, unfortunately she had to have the eye removed. She is on pain relief now. I always make sure I give as much as I can, cutting out a few treats in order to do this. Please remember you would be lost if the PDSA had to close, so give at least a fiver. That's less than a pkt of cigarettes a few cans of lager. Miss an evening at Bingo or a trip to the pub. Don't have that weekly takeaway or meal out. Help the PDSA carry on helping your pets, PLEASE! I did put in a complaint it made no difference just as protocol they would check elderly cats for kidney problems that wont help my cat they did not diagnose properly . Im sure the PDSA do a wonderfull job looking aftr dogs and cats But the reception must be the worst part of the organisation. It is staffed by a few part time staff earning extorshanate amounts of money so therefore have to reley on voluntery staff. Voluntery staff are people who give up their time to assist charities but this is not the case at PDSA Brighton. I recently went to volunteer in Brighton. I was told the centre is going thru considerable change at the moment and is a dark time. Volunteering for PDSA was like going to a job you hated. You were expected to be able to do the same job as a permenant employee within a few shifts otherwise if you need constant mentoring you are not an advantage to them. After 3 shifts i was spoken to both unprofesionally and inapropriatly over a mistake although i was told it was directed at the entire team and not just me. I was told by reception staff that it was not their job to train volunteers and get no thanks or pay for doing such. They constantly said their new manager doesnt do her role and jobs are passed on to them to do. When i challanged the manager over the issues i was told maybe i wasnt suited to the role. Because I didnt accept the way the vet speaks to people I didnt feel that the training i recieved was adiquate so therefore wasnt a benefit to them if i needed constant mentoring. I didnt find it appropriate to partake in the high pressure that is expected from its volunteers the same as it is from their over paid staff !!! The comments and reviews on this site are so true. The phones are ignored or put on hold The clients are kept waiting at reception whilst people do other things. The clients seem the last on a list of things to do. On my last shift the phones were on hold a queue out of the door for reception and 2 receptionisits and the manager held a 20 minute meeting on how to fill a form in for a meer 5 donation valuable time wasted when 3 of them could have been seeing to calls and clients with sick animals. The entire set up lacks respect training and customer service and there is no wonder people do not stop long when offering time to them thru volunteering. It is a major shame as the charity does wonders for sick animals but like lots of big charities spends too much time and money on un neccesary administration and management which is also mostly un necessary and total waste of recorces as half the tasks are pointless when the front line is where time and money is needed. I did put in a complaint it made no difference just as protocol they would check elderly cats for kidney problems that wont help my cat they did not diagnose properly . In my opinion the vets do not seem qualified to deal with serious condition . I wont be going back i cant afford vets fees but i will find the money from some where . Read Less

The hospital took great care of my dog when she needed an operation which would have been totally unaffordable in the private sector. I agree that actually getting through to them can be hard however it's a charity and reliant on contributions from the public so I personally make allowances for that when balanced with the great service they provide in terms of their veterinary practice. contributions getting through to them can be hard and you mayRead Less

I agree with Daniel... constantly have issues getting through to them on the phone, it has once even taken me a week of calling multiple times a day, everyday, to eventually get through to someone. I cannot fault the work they do, however the lack of availability of anyone to answer the phone is concerning... especially if its an urgent situation.Read Less
