Acorn were able to see Bonnie our cat at short notice as we were due to fly to France a few hours after identifying Bonnie was unwell. The team worked very efficiently to identify Bonnie had a virus and immediately injected fluids to cool down her high temperature. We then brainstormed to find out where Bonnie could be kept while we were out of the country. due to time restrictions it was not possible to get here checked into an overnight hospital. The vet volunteered to look after Bonnie at her house and agreed to drop her at our home when she had recovered, this act of kindness went well beyond their job description. My wife and I are immensely grateful for the support and care shown by the team. Read Less

If anyone is registered to Acorn vets in Hove I would suggest you re-register with another veterinary practice as soon as you can. We where told that our lovely Rosie girl (border collie) had tumors in her stomach and that we would have to have her put to sleep (even though they hadn't taken her temperature, blood tests, scans or anything). They were absolutely sure there was nothing else they could do and the kindest thing would be to let her go. After spending a night laying on the floor with her, crying our eyes out, we said our goodbyes and agreed to take her to another vet for a second opinion before we let her go to doggie heaven. The other practice couldn't find any suspicious lumps so suggested she had blood tests and scans to be absolutely sure....The results came back showing that Rosie has pancreatitis but NO TUMORS. What a massive misdiagnosis. We have gone through so much heartbreak over the last couple of days thinking we were loosing our beautiful girl. What a relief to hear we get to bring her home tonight. After being hospitalised and given medication she has now made a FULL recovery. I highly recommend Coastway Vets in Kemp Town. They have been absolutely fantastic and have been completely thorough in exploring all options before making such drastic suggestions. What an emotional rollercoaster! Enjoy every moment with your fur babies, because even though I get mine back today, I honestly thought I had lost her. *UPDATE*: Just for clarity, this is not an angry post directed at acorn vets or the vet who diagnosed Rosie. I do however feel that they should improve their process of how they test and diagnose animals. Had we not have received a second opinion we could have proceeded with euthanizing our baby, who could have been saved had they investigated a little further. Read Less

Acorn have cared for our various dogs’ for the past 15 years and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Their staff are always friendly, efficient & knowledgeable and above all we trust them. They’ve already cared for 2 of our dogs literally from cradle to grave and when they ultimalty had to be put to sleep their care for us humans was as perfect as how they dealt with our dear old doggies. I even got a hug from Carey one of the fabulous nurses when I was sobbing in reception. Following the retirement last year of the practice’s founding vets Andrew & Sandy, we weren’t sure what to expect as those are tough shoes to fill especially as we now have two more young dogs in their care. However we needn’t have worried as we had the pleasure of meeting Frankie today - one of Acorn’s shiny new vets - when we took young Betty Boo in for an operation. We instantly liked her and we left knowing the practice has a bright future. We also love their new annual care scheme (seems great value to me - especially when an annual nail clipping is included!) and also the new ways they contact us with text messages reminding us to give the dogs flea treatments or when jabs are due.
